Hi Alan,

Mike has posted on the meta forum to suggest making new sub fora and linked to this thread that the consensus is for it. I think it is in the works.

(nice MultiBit topic title BTW !)

On the other hand, we could just pass a "convention" that it is appropriate to use the Alternative Clients forums as if they were client sub-forums.  You just prefix the subject line with "[ARMORY] Cannot import Bitcoin-Qt wallet"  or "[MULTIBIT] Why are you so awesome?", etc

I suppose it depends on the difficulty of setting up an arbitrary number of sub-forums.

If talking about re-org of the forum, what about instead of using Satoshi vs. Alternatives we would
move to categories like Wallets, Libraries and Server?

It is hard sometimes to make clear distinctions - for instance bitcoind is both a server and a wallet and something like BitcoinSpinner is both too (depending on how you look at it).

I don't disagree with you that things would benefit from reorganising, but it would be like herding cats to get everyone to agree on an overall structure. I think the OP has hit on the simplest way of removing the "everything in one thread" frustration that it seems a few people (myself included) feel.

As to when a new client/ library should have its own sub folder, you could easily have a rule such as when the thread hits 10,000 views or a certain number of posts. It is when the thread gets too long is that it becomes unmanagable.

Wow, good idea.  You're right it's strange it hasn't been thought of before.  I always feel annoying constantly triggering notifications for all watchers when one user has a user-specific problem that no one else in the thread really cares about.

it is so confusing and hard to follow this way. All clients' discussions thrown in the same folder. With usually just one "master" thread for each client, and that is supposed to contain all topics related to that client. Not very helpful. How do you think?

I would volunteer as a moderator for the Bitcoin Wallet sub-forum.

I think this is a good idea as I certainly miss things 'up the thread'.
All of Armory's, Electrum's, blockchain.info's and MultiBit's threads are quite busy.

Also, for historical reasons they are scattered over this folder, Projects and developments and service announcements. It would be clearer if they all lived together.
