For farmers and shitposters, there is another tool called "banning", which I find far more fair and powerful to clean the forum.
Demerit people will have many issues:
- Demerit people for something personal.
- It is going to be difficult to pick all the shitposters in here, for they are too many, and demerit them.
- The merit system is based on reward, not in punishment. So this is going to be against the system existence itself.

Gaining merits may not be as difficult as you find. There are many users in here searching each day for good posts, so just avoid giving lessons to the forum function when is clear you have not enough experience and just do a good work.

Verified Bernie Bro - Feel The Bern!
Hi Community,

I feel that merited community members should have the ability to penalize or 'deduct' merits from accounts that incur any wrongdoings (spam/scam/farming) on the forum. Of course, there must be a cap as to how much merit a member can penalize the other person.

The downside is that the merits would be effectively 'destroyed' from the ecosystem. Thereby the amount of merit distributed have to be more than the amount of destroyed merits.

P.S: I also published a guide on ICOs for noobs. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

What do you guys think?

Aren't you the same user that started a KYC for bitcointalk thread(or something similar)?

You seem have a habit of posting topics here that have been discussed and essentially dismissed lots of times already.  Learn to use the search function.

Careful what you wish for!  If there was a demerit option I would be strongly considering you as a candidate to receive some from me!

And whats with the promoting your ico for noobs thread in this "suggestion" thread?  The stench of desperation for merit is overwhelming!

Reporting to mods is a rudimentary demerit function of sorts, people should try using that as well.

I translated your post with a bit of poetic licence. Please note that I changed the word 'user' to 'member'. One major way for newbie users to gain merits is for them to realise that they need a major mind shift. They need to stop being users, and become members of the forum.

Thank you, member  Wink! I accept your remark.

The users with 1 merit are very creative and sophisticated due to felt the taste of rewarding. Now 1 merit members try to creat any type of post to move forward. I think it's not the worst way, at least we try, not just spamming Smiley

I believe that members with 1 merit become very creative and sophisticated, and this is due to the fact that merit rewards become addictive. As a result of this, they are prepared to create any type of post in an attempt to repeat the experience. They believe that they are helping the forum, rather that just feeding their addiction, but in reality they are just spamming

I do love it how users with 1 merit are so opinionated about the merit system. They always want changes to the system and are totally unable to comprehend that all it takes is some changes to their own posting to fix the issue..

I don't think that demerits should be generally available. I think there is a case for a selected mod to be given the power to award negative merits. As this could lead to down ranking, it could be used to encourage a change in behaviour by those senior members who continue to spam the boards with worthless posts. It could also be used to reduce the value of purchased accounts.

I think that the demerit system won't also work. If the merit system now is being abused by members what do you think a demerit system can do in the forum? Even if you put a limit into it, the potential abuse won't stop. All I can see is people will try to bribe or even extort money out of people because of this system. Having ths merit system now is a big help in removing the spam and shitpost and for the scammers we always have the Trust system to take care of them.
