I am for this a 100%.
When I first joined this forum, I was soo confused and I had no idea about the rules of the forum.
If there was a PM for me as soon as I joined then I am sure that I would have read the rules and figured stuff out. Cheesy
What exactly were you confused about?  There are whole threads devoted to spelling out all the rules here, and threads where people explain the rules to noobs.  All it takes is a modicum of willingness to read, but it seems most people here don't have the willingness or ability to do so.

I'd say most "new" accounts are alts, and a welcome PM would be wasted on them.  What they ought to do is lock the forum and not allow any new users.  Sounds harsh, but this place has turned into a cesspool of shitposters.

Well, as a beginner in the world of bitcoin, I was confused about a lot of stuff, but mostly the forum rules. It's just like when u install a software, you don't go looking for the terms of service, you just tick it. So, obviously, most new users wont go looking for the rules. You will have to make them available in an easy to notice place. Software Development 101.
I'm sorry to say, but if I sign up at a certain place, I make sure I fully understand the rules before asking for things that wouldn't need an answer if I just read through the rules before that.

If you as newbie don't read the rules, then it's most likely that you're here only to make a few quick bucks through signature campaigns, and mostly, this is exactly the case.

Just look at the sheer number of newbies here asking why their activity isn't moving up even though they made like 100 shit posts in a matter of a few days.

If they were really here to learn something, they would have noticed that there is a thread in the same section explaining activity and everything important in easy to understand language.

If I remember correctly, it was already offered in past. I think that such welcome messages for newbies would be really helpful. And maybe then we would see less threads by newbies who are asking things which was asked and answered millions of times. But as always, so far nothing has been done to implement such feature.

I am seeing that as more and more newbies continue to join the forum, they start posting the same posts "How can I earn bitcoins", "New to bitcoins",etc. So I think that there should be an automated personal message that would be sent to new registered accounts, having link to important stickied and such posts' answers.
Agree.A message with links to common and frequently asked questions like 'activity/post info' should be sent to the newbie account.Too much spoon feeding though. If you're not a 12 year old trying to be cool, you can probably figure that information out yourself.
