I am creating a website http://bitrat.de were I would like to list Bitcoin services e.g. wallets or exchanges, and users could vote for their favorites. The rating system is a simple up- and down-vote inspired by websites like reddit or alternative.to. I am aware of other services like bitcorati and coinjabber but I believe the first is extremely complex: you have to join a social network just to see what are the most popular Bitcoin services, and the second is fueled by users that add websites just to get some jabber points. In my opinion rewarding users to add and rate websites can only lead to spam.

Still, a simple like/dislike rating system might also be just too simple and might not fully tell everything of a service. I am looking for opinions of what you believe of my approach and if you believe such a rating system would ever be useful. What do you think a rating system would require? Would you consult such system? Other suggestions?

Do you know other rating websites? Do you like the idea? Which categories do you think are relevant?

I really like websites like alternative.to because they give you a first impression about the popularity of an item such as software tools. Most of the time I use alternative.to as a first measure of how popular a tool is and then try one or two of the top.

I am also using this post to advertise http://bitrat.de, feel free to join and provide your votes.

Thanks!
