So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
That would not be a very inclusive policy. In the fight against spam we don't want to deter anyone who is actively trying to become a prat of the BTC community.
Those who want to become a part of the community wont actually bother about how many merits they gather. Rather they would try to make informative posts and get to know each other. Grin

I have a better idea: let's ban everybody who hasn't received a single Merit yet, despite making hundreds of posts.

You are wrong!
It's hard to imagine how bounties' managers can manage to avoid massive abusements.
It's hard to find enough merit funds to give them away to their supporters.
Merits (limited merits awarded) for highest qualitied participants might be taken into consideration but merit bonus like this might lead to potential serious arguments from participants on why someone got rewards, and someone else not.
I think making merit as a form of reward much like in bounties can improve the activities of members in the forum.

I gave you 5 merits under my cMerits initiative. I looked at your post history, and several comments seemed to be helpful and constructive. The award was a collective one for those posts.

Much appreciated! But I feel the need to state that I'm not begging for merit with my post.

Guess then the Forum is cleaned fast lol

I think you underestimate the value of active members. Not everybody is able to create awesome content.
I consider myself an active member, and although I admit that I initially posted to rank up (which implicitly seemed the purpose of posting), nowadays I like to read and learn, and sometimes I express my opinion or give information on topics I feel comfortable  with.
This does not earn me merit, yet the above idea would exclude me, suggesting my activity does not hold value.
I'm sure I'm not the only one...

What a brilliant concept - giving merit as a reward for making good posts. I wonder why Theymos didn't think of that. Smiley

Getting merit is way too hard but I am trying my best to earn merit.I know lots of members here are just spamming just to post for bounty reports but not all newbies are doing those things. There are still newbies who are trying to learn and wanted to earn merit in a good way.Banning members who had no merit is like closing bitcoin to others.I thought bitcoin is for everyone.I rather suggest to banned those spammers unlike closing opportunity to every newbies who are still in the process of learning.

So you're saying we should give Merit to quality posts? We do that already, so why this topic?
I bet Jet Cash will put you on ignore now.

it is very hard, but we can limit the no. of the post in a week for newbies and jr.members, So they can't fulfill the bounty requirement and then they have to make the quality post for earning merit.

But yea this probably good one and maybe ban every user that have 0 post after 24 hours after he register on this forum.

That would not be a very inclusive policy. In the fight against spam we don't want to deter anyone who is actively trying to become a prat of the BTC community.

Some people come here to just lurk, and may not feel like posting for a while. It may actually be more productive to prevent an account from posting for 24 hours so they can spend some time reading first.

Yes, to have an account and do not post with it is not actually a problem. On the contrary, the issue is all those accounts that immediately begin to post nonsenses in order to gain activity and join a bounty soon.
I think the @Loicev`s idea is great: if you are unable to earn at least a merit in your first hundred posts, well, probably you should not be in here, for I can bet that all that you are doing is spamming.

I bet Jet Cash will put you on ignore now.
I bet OP is already on Jet Cash's ignore list  Grin

Those are usually the people who should just be content with being a Jr. Member for life.
And finally they will give up. The forum will become a better place again.  Smiley

@OP: Not sure if you will take it or not... Merit will be awarded if you keep creating good contents. If you find it too hard to earn then there are some merit reviewing topics here and there still exists I guess - try there. However, this path will not position you in a better place though for long term.

I think making merit as a form of reward much like in bounties can improve the activities of members in the forum. For instance putting up a well detailed topic / post that is provided for that week can make the quality of post in the forum grow, whether it is a topic for trading, investing or even off topics that can pertain to an individuals well being can be good. For me this is to have members a sense of achievement as there are members here who deserve a merit but can never have one, with this deserving members can have a merit for their quality work and information in the forum.

eeeeeehhhhhmmmmmm in fact, merits are a form of "reward" for good posting activity, so, don`t worry, it is already happening.

Probably the best idea ever.

OP is a moron who hasn't gotten any merit because he's trying to write garbage in a language he has no proficiency with.  It's not surprising that no one has found any of his posts merit worthy, and his suggestion here is--if you can even understand it--idiotic.  Like LoyceV said, he's basically stating that good posts should be rewarded with merit.  Derp.

Don't listen to people who have yet to earn any merit and who've been around since the beginning of the system.  Those are usually the people who should just be content with being a Jr. Member for life.
