That's great to know that there are places who have known cryptocurrency. That's pretty good because they are aware and exposed to it which may lead to better economy. I hope my country people will know more about this so we can all make our economy a better one.

By looking at the differences between answers of European countries, it seems like the poorer countries tend to be more positive towards Bitcoin. This can be explained by poorer people viewing Bitcoin investment as their ticket out of poverty, or because they blame banks and corrupt politicians for their economic problems and they think that economy based on Bitcoin would be better for them. I think Europe, especially eastern parts will be a place where most Bitcoin adoption will occur in the next years.
It is not necessary to distinguish between poor and rich countries. Simply put, there is a chance there is a successful effort every day. This is an intellectual science, not a betting gambling, so the human aspirations are very high. Simply who has succeeded, has helped mankind?
Or just know the money in your pocket and leave ignored live life is not valid for the community.

The information here is pretty descriptive. Crypto usage and investment increase in europe but new people scare of the market because of crashing btc all day. This shows a positive attitude of our public towards this revolutionary technology and future money system.

Not really scared it seems. People are just playing it safe and are being very cautious in putting in money in this market. We've all seen how bitcoin plunged hard along with the whole market and people wouldn't want to be in the middle of such a dump.

I think Crypto currency is known in the world, it is also accepted in some countries, most users are aware of crypto currency since for some it is their source of living.

LOL Yeah Obviously people making a living on cryptocurrencies are aware of what are cryptocurrencies. Your post doesn't make any sense.
Can you imagine people are paid in cryptos but have never heard about it?
Sometimes people are so dumb in the forum. Cheesy

Yeah the rates are quite good. Much better than i expected really. If they ask it in my country, the results will be probably below 10. There so few people knows cryptocurrencies here.
What I see here is a survey involving only tens of thousands of people, that means only a few percent of the total population of the country, but the results are beyond my expectations, many of them know orever heard about crypto, and many people are interested in crypto and may use it in the future

After countries in the continent of Europe, I am sure the country in Asia and Africa will continue to increase. And with increasing demand then in accordance with the economic law, there will be an increase in prices. Let's just wait that time is not long anymore.
Good luck friend.

There have been many countries and regions around the world accepting Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in exchange and payment services. From Asia, Europe, the Americas and now Africa, is trying to apply the technology of blockchain as well as cryptocurrency in life to improve the quality and efficiency of work. I believe that if applied correctly the cryptocurrency is indeed the future of world currency.

It's a survey conducted by ING Bank and the respondents are from Europe, The U.S.A, and Austalia (15 countries in total ~15,000 respondents)
The results are not bad for the reputation of cryptocurrency. I mean, look, in Europe, 66% have heard of the technology, 25% indicated they expect to own cryptocurrency, 35% in Europe agree Bitcoin is the future of spending online.
To me, cryptocurrency is more mainstream than what we can think and hear. Sure, it's not yet in each house but it isn't bad as of now

so cryptocurrency is popular, this is good news, the community is getting biger and biger day by day.

I was about to bash you for asking an incredibly stupid poll here on the forums but i was sorely mistaken when i saw the data you provided.

Thank you for sharing this survey. It's really interesting to see that more than half of the world is still uninformed about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Can you imagine where we all would be once adoption rates starting growing beyond 50%?

Not every people heard about cryptocurrency, those people who are not aware about how the technology is growing today does not know anything about cryptocurrency.

It's great to see the popularity of crypto is rising, but a bit sad to see that not many people owning crypto, and I believe most of the people want crypto because of the price that keep on rising, but I still happened to see the data, with increasing popularity there will be more developments for crypto in the future
Indeed, almost everyone that possess crypto keep it because of price rising. In other words, for them crypto is an asset and not currency. Which is sad indeed, but that will continue as such until crypto becomes as usable as fiat currencies. But that I don't expect to happen soon.  Also with increase of crypto users, everythiny becomes better.
Yeah more people are getting to know about crypto. Mostly are impressed with it because it is helping everyone. We all know that basic necessity of humans are fulfilled with money and everyone here is looking for different ways to earn men. So this basic necessity is just endorsed by bitcoin and other crypto, so the response was definite from people. Good luck to all those who are on stake.
Bitcoin and crypto in general had given people new opportunity for improving their lives and as you said to earn more money, and that is one more thing that helped the hype from the last year. But people should understand that there is more to crypto than simple money earning. But I guess that money earning will be primary thing for long time, or at least until bitcoin becomes true currency.

I did not know previously that so many people have heard of crypto currency, not sure how many have bought crypto currency though. I believe more and more people will be involved in the crypto world.

The thing is that the media jumps on Bitcoin every time it goes through a bull run, so it's impossible for quite a large number of people to not know about crypto. It was like that in 2013 and has been initiated last year as well. The difference is that while people back then believed crypto to be a scam or a scheme and ignored it for that reason, they found out last year that they missed the opportunity of their life. It made them realize that crypto is here to stay, and exactly the same will happen with the next generation of people. They need that *I missed the boat* moment to realize that crypto is a real thing.

Its good when people know what cryptocurrency and blockchain really are, but to be honest I don't think that is enough. What is more important is the number of people that are using crypto, and not only in your country. Number of users needs to grow, and if people know what blockchain truly is and are not using it, everything will fade away eventually...

The numbers I find very interesting and from my personal experience i can say that they are quite suitable. If already about 66% of people in europe heard about crypto, i would like to get to know the numbers from asia or the whole world. I think it's because of the last hype from the end of 2017, early 2018, when Bitcoin and altcoins also got a lot of attention in the mainstream media. I can imagine that the numbers will rise in the next few years and we will soon see 99% in europe.  Smiley

What's going on in Belgium for awareness to be so low? And what's going on in Turkey for such a ludicrously high percentage of owners? I wonder if the samples per country were of the same amount of people and the same method and demographic.

If you compare Belgium which has about 10 million citizens and France which as about 65 million citizens, it's not so bad. The difference is only 2%. See also the UK and The Netherlands. I think the high percentage of Turkey is because of a situation like Venezuela, myself I was surprised with Turkey. Overall the stats are not bad

But, I do not think crypto can be used like fiat currency for various reasons. But if only to be used to transact online might be better implemented in the future. With its high popularity, it is very likely to happen in the future. With the bitcoin is definitely going to make it easier for shoppers between countries, because with bitcoin we do not need an intermediary like transact using fiat money that tends to be inhibiting and will take longer.

The differences in some cases may very well be related to the economical situation in certain countries. Turkey has been dealing with a depreciating currency for quite a while now, and it seems to get worse with every month that goes by. It might have triggered people to research what the alternatives are to park their capital in and avoid further loss of purchasing power. In the last 12 months the Lira lost like 28% in value against the Euro, which is horrible for anyone that works hard for his money. It might also be something else adding fuel to the fire, but this is the most plausible from what is publicly known.

This is really good and shows how many people are interested in. Bitcoin in this our current world. The last question on where to get information if one ever gets interested in it, I think heading to a specialist website is the best.

No better place than to get online and read different opinions from different groups of people and also get to know what they think about it, that would be really much helpful than other options that were given. Eehm… As for the how many people that owns bitcoin🤔Mehn… they are not much, but anyway Bitcoin is mainly for investment and nothing else.

This is a great research and very well presented and it all shows that the adoption of Bitcoin and crypto currency in general is on the increase on a daily basis. Although it's value since the beginning of the year has been on the decline but that doesn't deter people from not investing their money in crypto currency.

Every people managed to know about cryptocurrency even when they are young like in college or highschool days but not everyone can manage to invest because they did not have money money or they are just not interested.

Totally not surprised about the low number of people owning any crypto. In most cases people have only invested in crypto with a few hundred bucks, likely just to test and play around.
What really is surprising are people who have not owned crypto yet on the survey wanted to seek advice from special websites which typically are spreading FUD and FOMO over time. At the very least, it is better than seeking advice from a bank/financial advisor who are biased sometimes. Nevertheless, it is not surprising that others who expect to own bitcoin in the future wouldn't want to invest in cryptocurrencies, maybe they are expecting to get some hefty sum on free bitcoin earning sites.

It might not be a coincidence we have news headlines of turkey achieving greater than 12% inflation, with turks scoring highest on current and future crypto ownership rates. The sad reality is, many nations including the united states could currently have inflation rates greater than 10%. The way inflation is calculated in many countries has changed over time, in the way that the unemployment rate no longer reflects true unemployment.

I saw poll research last year which claimed 2% of americans had owned or used a crypto currency of some type. From 2% to 8% is decent growth with 21% planning to purchase crypto in the future, indicating further expansion. The high growth and adoption rate might be correlated with greater demand, which possibly should be driving bitcoin's price upwards. Greater mainstream adoption coupled with lower price could indicate there is severe manipulation occurring which is driving down bitcoin's price, artificially.

High percentage demographics intending to purchase crypto in the future could mean that economic prosperity is correlated with higher bitcoin prices as it would allow end users to better follow through on crypto puchasing plans.

The data is pretty descriptive. Nevertheless, I did not expect the results to be so high. Europe started to understand cryptocurrencies'  value. This awareness will increase every passing day. By the way, it is also quite surprising that a bank made this survey.
You should not be as surprised, because who would do this better than the banks. They want to explore their options on the matter. To see statistics about peoples who are involved or not, and to find best approach for making money out of it. Crypto could change a lot, and banks would suffer a lot if they don't adept.

Now the cryptocurrency ,works better than a bank. The main purpose of cryptocurrency is to act as a medium to earn more money from your investment. Now the Europe strongly analysis the value of cryptocurrency.Crypto currency had advanced feature,if the bank fails to accept it.It may suffer a lot.

Looking at the countries in the list, it seems that the citizens of the countries that are in very good economic condition are not very interested. but countries that are in a worse and more economical position seem to have shown a little more interest. I guess it's about people's willingness to make money. the more information you have about this topic, the more it can be earned. For this reason, people from many different countries seem to be very interested in this issue.

I guess if I did not need the money, I would not have been able to do a lot of research on how many things I can "earn" on many issues. If for that reason such a question had been asked to me, probably my answer would be "no I have never heard".  Smiley

Im not surprised with the awareness because no doubt it grows especially with hype bring last year 2017. And it will continue to grow as time passes by. Every big price crash or pump are now reported right away by media resulting to much increase awareness of the people.

But still with that kind of awareness, for let's say in general, only few individuals owned crypto. Many still in doubt.

We just have to trust process and soon we can actively see not just awarenewss but big adoption literally.

not just about listening to the bitcoin and crypto sounds, but moreover, I've witnessed the tremendous growth of bitcoin and much of altcoin in 2017 in terms of value and influence on the popularity of the plus copper. So, I see bitcoin and crypto as the trend of the future. Early speculation is perfectly beneficial in terms of profitability in the long run.

Yeah the rates are quite good. Much better than i expected really. If they ask it in my country, the results will be probably below 10. There so few people knows cryptocurrencies here.

Totally not surprised about the low number of people owning any crypto. In most cases people have only invested in crypto with a few hundred bucks, likely just to test and play around.

Imagine what happens when they go big on crypto and start converting a certain part of their savings to Bitcoin as a long term store of value tool. Everyone starts with alts and ends up with Bitcoin in their portfolio.

On the other hand, we shouldn't really pay too much attention to these surveys since they can be answered just for the sake of answering or to mess it up. Fact is that the price is and stays a better measuring tool.

I would say the number isn't bad, personally, I wasn't looking to see something like 20-25%. About the survey itself, it has been done by IPSOS in the name of ING Bank, this type of agency is pretty strict with their surveys (Very hard to reply bogus replies and it's checked 1 by 1).
I think the result is giving a good overview of the state how cryptocurrency market is seen.

Interesting! Crypto's surely are getting more than mainstream and look at those data's, they are sweet!

Percentage of those people that want to own some crypto's in the future is lovely. This is encouraging and looking at the number of who actually owns crypto now.

The market cap is too high and we are that still low in population so what will be expected if these numbers started to get into the market and starts buying their own crypto's like bitcoin.

Imagine what happens when they go big on crypto and start converting a certain part of their savings to Bitcoin as a long term store of value tool. Everyone starts with alts and ends up with Bitcoin in their portfolio.
There will be a boost to the market.

Its interesting to see something like this. And to be honest, I have not thought some statistics would be as high.
But still, percentage of those who owns or will own crypto in the future is too low. It would be nice if those numbers rise a bit, don't you think?
Also I am not surprised that most of people would not want  current way of getting payment or paying in general to change. But who knows, maybe that will change in the future.
Crypto-currencies are still new... so I guess that my expectations were a bit too high.

I think that is great that majority of people from Europe recognize and are aware of cryptocurrency. Once mass adaptation and awareness about crypto happens there will be more demand, which means the price can even surpass the recent ATH of all the cryptocurrency price.

Nice data!!
I think year 2017 has been a great milestone in the journey of cryptocurrencies. After 10 or 15 years from now when we analysis the history of cryptocurrencies, surely 2017 will be the year showing enormous rise in usage, inflow of cash, prices, ICOs and everything.
Along with European countries, Bitcoin and other cryptos are now on the path of becoming household names in Asian and other third-tier countries too. There is a significant rise in number of exchanges and money invested in cryptocurrencies in countries like China, India, Korea, etc.
Here is one of the video showing how Bitcoin is empowering citizens of African countries like Uganda and strengthening World Economy : https://youtu.be/BrRXP1tp6Kw
