I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
Exit scam canceled? He probably afraid of being put in jail for the rest of his life. Not sure if "I am sorry" would be enough and free him from problems that might arise.
I think the same, on the surface this may seem like a good action but it is not, he is worried about going to jail for the rest of his life or at least for a significant amount of time and now he is trying to make it seem as if he had a change of heart, but in my mind this person will always be a scammer and anyone dumb enough to invest in such project or in future projects that may involve him is asking to be scammed and if they do then they have no one to blame but themselves.

Now his reputations have been restored I think. I haven't seen anyone in crypto who at least apologies after doing a scam activity. Maybe he feared that he will go to jail for his doing. People won't trust him anymore because many lost their money. But some may respect him because of this right decision after all.

Not fully  restored they are just giving it back the money to real owner  that he plan to run so he will not go to jail a wise decision for him . but if I am the one who invested I will never think to invest again to a person that tryng to run my money . He just failed to do it because he knows the consequences that he will deal after . what his done is done so no way people should trust that kind of person.

Well, at least they are not really taking the investor's money and run away.
We can learn from this, the community project funds should not be at one's control, it should be requiring some people to move the funds.
If only one person can control the funds freely, this case will likely happening in the future.

Dude basically assumed since he was the creator he should be paid, and he took what he assumed would be enough and didn't even consider it as money that he was stealing, he assumed it was money that he deserved and now after "apology" he still says "and I will let community decide how much I deserve as original creator of sushiswap" meaning he still wants money.

Basically after all he has done, he still has the audacity to think that he deserves money, if he created and put some aside from himself I would have understand that, but to do it later and now asking for money for it is just plain evil, dude should get nothing if you ask me. Because of him sushiswap is now worse and he didn't created it, a whole team did, he just had an idea and that doesn't worth 14+ million dollars. Specially not after what he did.

To everyone. I fucked up. And I am sorry.
$SUSHI migration went successfully and the journey of @SushiSwap began. I was fortunate to have a chance to help in the background and it was a very enjoyable moment in my life. Congrats for the successful migration!
I would like to apologize to everyone who I have caused troubles to. I was emotional, I was greedy, I was afraid. I made bad controversial decisions under pressure. And it hurt everyone. I failed your expectation and I am sorry.
@0xMaki @zippoxer @Sushi__ninja The early believers in the project. Thank you for joining the journey with me early. And sorry if I made you feel betrayed. I really appreciated your help bootstrap the project and push it forward.
@lawmaster @scott_lew_is @danielque @tomhschmidt @rleshner and other Crypto OGs. @DegenSpartan @mewn21 @intocryptoast and other degen friends. I failed your expectation. I am sorry.
@AndreCronjeTech Thank you for helping with some ideas and code. And very sorry for bringing a bad reputation to the DeFi movement.
@binance @cz_binance @nomorebear I am sorry that I may have caused you trouble. @haydenzadams @brendan_dharma sorry for being cocky. You guys are awesome builders.
Most importantly @SBF_Alameda. Thank you for your help getting SushiSwap back when I almost destroyed it. Same goes for other signers @AdamScochran @mickhagen @cmsholdings @sinoglobalcap
And there are probably hundreds of other people that I did not mention here, but well deserve an apology from me.
I have returned all the $14M worth of ETH back to the treasury. And I will let the community decide how much I deserve as the original creator of SushiSwap. In any currency (ETH/SUSHI/etc). With any lockup schedule you wish.
I will continue to participate in the discussion and technical implementation of SushiSwap in the background. But I will not have any control. Will not take any spotlight. Will not be part of the governance.
I hope that SushiSwap continues to evolve. Don't let my mistake deter it from being a 100% community-run AMM. The success of SushiSwap will set a precedent for many more community-run projects.
It has a lot of potential, don’t let my action alone fuck it up.

If someone fall for it a 2nd time, you can no longer be helped...
Sorry!  Roll Eyes

I am 100% certain that dude faced with a lot of legal stuff and he was really afraid of going to jail for a very very long time and that is why he did all of this. Obviously he is not off the hooks yet, what he did was illegal and it is not the same to just give everything back and think you are innocent, let's assume you go steal someone's money, and you bring that money back to them, you think that is not a crime? Of course it is, this is the same thing but just digitally.

He is hoping that since he gave the money back and he stepped down as the CEO and he is no longer a part, he will not be considered as a criminal and nothing will happen to him, he might be right in the crypto world since most people do not really care about it, but I still think it is quite dangerous as well.

I do not get it, why do you think that one person should have power over something? That alone should tell you how this is all wrong and f- up, decentralization is a thing and if they do not care about it at all, that means they are not doing it right at all neither.

We need people to actually have some sort of uncontrollable thing, like bitcoin because that way you know that it can't be controlled and people could actually have a decentralized currency, however it is not like that, now this dude made a mistake and it screwed up everything but even if it ever recovers, giving that power to someone else doesn't really make a ton of change, it just changes the ownership from one person to another, who is to say that new ownership will not make any mistake neither? Nobody can guarantee that.

He's trying to regain his reputation and i think it's a smart move knowing that you might get into jail after running with the money of the investors, but I don't think that would be enough to appease the people he scammed by just returning the money, but i guess it's still a good thing that he returned it, many people would run because of it.
Nobody will trust him again we don't know exactly why he returned the money, maybe he's not really that bad or someone in the group threaten to expose him,we do not know the real picture, this is how risky investing in Cryptocurency so even if you do your own research this things still happen, that is why we should tagged this unknown or anonymous developers because they have a way to get away, because nobody is going after them.

It's a really good thing that the owner is feeling guilty and has apologized for his behaviour.
It takes huge guts to accept a mistake in front of such a large community.

This is just a tweet. He can delete it if he wants. So his guts are not so huge. He could have gathered all the people that had lost from Sushi in one place and apologise on public.

It is unclear what this is all about. Did he really meant to apologise or he was forced to.

But this doesn't mean that you guys should trust him again and invest in Sushi blindly.
This is where you should pay focus. Take out all your money or most of it and invest in a potential coin.
If the scam has happened once then it can happen again. If not the owner it can be someone else from their team as well.
You money lies in your hands now. Let the DeFi hype settle and then decide whether to invest in it again or not.

He took a huge step by returning the stolen funds unlike other devs will disappear without a trace, that is a commendable act, but to me, I think it will be difficult for me to trust him again because of the incident, he will really have to work hard to regain my trust, although he did a great job acknowledging his mistakes and ready to make amends.

If only more people had that attitude.

For most people saying sorry is the most difficult thing in the world.

Even if he now makes much less money from it it will be clean and honestly earned money.

He say sorry for fear of going to jail. I think it's better to apologize than anything. Everyone has mistakes, but not everyone dares to apologize. And what is more important is that he dared to return the funds amounting to 14 million dollars and that is a very large amount.

if only half of those devs (ICO scammers) had done the same act as with this sushiswap founder, ICO investors had been very lucky. not many people can admit their mistakes publicly. though he may be thinking of evading jail time but still most scammers will just disappear and will do other things to avoid conviction.
now i remember again the now defunct Quadriga crypto exchange and the strange death of its CEO...

Get out of it! If he was able to do that, he will be able to do that in the future right? The creator of SushiSwap is completely anonymous, so we can´t trust his words. He probably did the worst thing, stealing money and now giving it back? Doesn´t make sense at all, he will not get the credibility back.

He's trying to make amends for what he did to the community, but maybe not very effective. There are a lot of people who have lost money on this project and they won't leave him alone. His lost trust cannot be recovered so easily, even though he apologizes 1000 times, they still hate him. The most selfish developer I have ever known, he brought his project out to the community, and then he took profits and announced that the project was still growing.

Ahaha, now he should buy Sushi tokens back and double his previous holdings (I am speculating, I am not aware at which price he sold them, but I am pretty sure he sold them higher than the current price is). Its kinda humorous tho, maybe the Litecoin guy is next, but I would not hold my breath.

xOdiumNostrumx if you think about Charlie Lie as the Litecoin guy he sold his Litecoins long ago, and he said he will continue
to work on the development. He didn't want to get in conflict of interest, he sold all his coins at the top in 2017, I believe the
price was around $300, we can check that information.
I saw a lot of talking on the Twitter about this guy who sold his Sushi tokens for +$7 millions. I saw his tweets where he is
trying to explain himself. I don't have Sushi tokens, and I will hold myself with investments in this token after his move. My
trust is shaken, and most people feels the same.

Even though the damage has been done I think they could still continue to work on it and make it better project in the future.
At least this founder knows how to return their investors money not just another hit and run project that would run away with all their investors money.

Although the damage has been done by the former CEO but am happy to see a potential exit scam project doing a good restructuring of it leadership. He portrayed good elements of trust in my opinion as he returned all the money stollen from investors back to them, this is strange in the world of cryptocurrency, though not justify his actions. The new project CEO has a good reputation which is enough to transform the project to it enviable position among it equals to stay at the top.

still going to be hard to earn the trust once again. even if he will return them all back, the disappointment of the users disgust to sushi project. i can't even eat my sushi tuna anymore lol it reminds me of the project every time i see a sushi on the table.

he realized too late that what he did was terrible. he could really make a lot more money than what he got right now if he just stick to the roadmap. now that CZ had tweeted about them scaming, its hard to take it out of our mind already.

I'm sure he just wants to recover his good name. but that will not mean the morning of those who have seen what he has done in the market.

He already make the damages for sure it won't be easy for those who got involved and lose their money from this project, even he's trying to catch up and return the money the damage has been done.

This issue will be hard for the market to accept, but the sushi asset is now being considered for release on several exchanges.

There's still chances that traders will join the ride, people who knows how to play well with this kind of trends, they are willing to take part and risk their money.

it happened when so many people were trapped. and now we will wait for how the market will respond to this.

Indeed, it will be depends from how the market will respond to this action that the dev made. If there are more investors who will buy this and show back interest with sushi then expect something decent.

I think this guy has redeemed his image, to be sincere not everyone can afford to do what he did, $14 million is a huge money to refund because this is life changing money, for him to come and admit he is wrong to me is a great feat, I just hope the community will welcome him backa nd let the buy-gone be buy-gone. Now the project can move forward

I wouldn't agree with this. It seems more likely that he realized there was good chance of getting Doxxed and caught by the authorities or even worse getting caught by perhaps some unsavory investors who could perhaps do far worse things to him( not just in sushi But In DEfi in general since his Exit scam attempt started a cascade of more exit scams /rug pulls and collapse in prices of most Defi coins which many would argue was unsustainable).

Also as far as returning the 14 million who is to say that he has Not shorted his own coin before new broke of his exit scam and repurchased or longed it again before he "asked for forgiveness" essentially front running the entire market. This along with the whole transfer of Keys to FTX just seems extremely suspicious to put it gently.

All this of course also does nothing for traders who may have been liquidated both times as a result of his decision. ( still expecting many official complaints to be lodged against him)

I just don't see how anyone can let by bygones be bygones here.

His greed fail him, he would have gain more from sushi in the long run but he might have thought selling his share and cashout was the best decision. Happy for him that he got back unto his senses.
But I still think the damage has been done. Once bitten, twice shy, many has move on and will not come back to the project.

If he had no bad intentions, even if he's been under fire for selling all his coins, he wouldn't have cared the same way Charlie Lee didn't when he sold his. Why would he care that if that's simply something he wanted to do and felt wasn't wrong, right?

This man's reputation shouldn't recover imo. If nobody gave a damn and everyone accepted the idea that he exit scammed, he wouldn't have returned his bucks. This seems like he realized there's no way he could escape through an exit scam with $14M (or the risk is too high) so he gave up and tried to recover from his mistakes.

Not everyone can do the same, because admitting mistakes is a very difficult thing for us to do especially when it comes to money, and I salute what sushiSwap's founder has done and this is very good because he is aware of the mistakes made so far and it is very detrimental to others, for other scammers can hopefully be a guideline.

I do not believe that can happen but if it is true that will be great, usually no one gives back the money they cashout looks like the owner has realized his mistake or he may be threatened by someone or he could have felt scared due to any legal action against him whatever the reason if it is good for the project we should support it.

Well, he did  a a nice job to return the funds. it shows that he has much trust and faith in his project. he really want to see his project succeed and he needs to lead by example. i think it was a nice decision by the chef. people will believe in him and support him whenever he calls for assistance from the sushi community. NO wonder the token made turn around.
He did well by refunding those monies afterall there are some of fraudulent ones that had absconded with people funds without any trace at least he came out openly to apologizes for his misdeed and mistakes this will bring some credibility and trust in the token no wonder the token had made some pumping this will likely encourage more investors into the project and more buyers will invest in the token.
However, that has not been able to make Sushi rise again because the current situation is different and it seems everyone here has left this coin a few days ago. However, if you are a big investor, you should only choose day trading and sell when it is profitable because this will help you ensure a good return. I think investing in this coin has been risky until now and should be looking for another better coin.

No one will forgive Nomichef's actions as he drastically reduced the market. As a result, the traders lost a large amount of money. His 14 million returned to everyone also could not resolve the situation because everyone had lost money, which is undeniable, the derivatives traders on Binance were even worse because of the high leverage.
There are several allegations that Nomichef was involved in the Band Protocol project and people thought his fear of being sued was the driving force behind him to seek forgiveness from the community.

He still liable for this but investors can forgive him for coming out and giving back the money, we have so many developers that run away with bigger funds, we need to give the community a teeth to run after these kinds of developers, if we will not they will do it over again because they can get away and the community is soft on getting after these scammers, this is sad but true.

If this was a movie it would called "the return of the mark" or the  "greatest come back" who inspired or however this decision was reversed is just divine. Not seen anything like this in crypto. I just like the fact this is a precedent to those that have scammed people. This is really good for crypto space.

What could have he thought when disappearing. Certainly the persons intention were not good. If he just disappeared without any communication or update. And why he is back after so much devastation in the price and reputation. He might have evaluated his chances and consequences and decided it's better to give up and return the money than to live a life in fear.

even if there's apologies I wonder if people still put their trust into sushiswap. I mean there's always reason behind the apology and to think that a man returns money that he has taken before is kinda fishy lol in my opinion.
I think this is the first exit scam attempt that went good in the ending Imagine he return the $14 million worth of Eth I'm sure he bothered by his conscience or maybe he just afraid to get bust and jailed but no matter what the reason of this sudden change I believe it brought a good omen to the SushiSwap price because it was on the rise again.
maybe someone trying to dox him or something similar? even after few days the apology from him appear SUSHI didnt get any better there's price bump but that's just very small. I think people already leaving this project. the volume still enormous tho.

I think this happens because chef nomi identity has been leaked to public (whether it's real or fake), I'm sure if chef nomi identity is safe it looks like he won't return ethereum that he stole, but there is a bright side, it's just that I still doubt the ability of ftx exchange ceo because this sushiswap project now shifted to them.

Well, definitely he is, and probably lots of death threat in his private box.  This news brings smile to me, and even though sorry isn't enough, at least he has guts to admit and apologize in public.  I think the guy (sushiswap founder) isn't really that  bad.  And now that the Sushiswap have $14m funds in their stash, I so wanted to see this project to be successful. It would be great to see  supposed to be scam project going legit and successful.

Maybe he realized he can't get out of his mess without being killed. Because who knows, he might be receiving real death threats because he screwed huge amount of money and there may be big names behind those funds? Though his action is very rare as most scammers disappeared into thin air.

By the way is Chef Nomi a Japanese? Because Japanese are known to ask forgiveness publicly and some of them commit harakiri if they can't bear it with their conscience what they've done.

whatever the case that be , him returning the amount is first of its kind and trending now. SushiSwap is trading in green as we speak.

That is really odd and surprising to see that someone who scams people changed his ways and became afraid. I think he might be living in those countries with very harsh punishments for stealing money from other people, and that he chickened out and got very afraid. It is noble (somewhat) that he was able to ask forgiveness and did a refund of a large amount of money and he was able to do so without hesitation. Anyway we will see what will happen next.

Kudos to him and bravo the action steps taken by him by saying "am sorry". The problems with many investors were to see their investment money come back to them., and he has done likewise. Sucshi investors will have good confidence in the project.

Exit scam canceled? He probably afraid of being put in jail for the rest of his life. Not sure if "I am sorry" would be enough and free him from problems that might arise.

What else would be enough! At least he recognise his mistake and make amend, like what other members already said, $14 million is a life changing opportunity which many greedy people will not give up so easily even if they will go to jail for it, but this guy sincerely return all the money and make public apology and also remove himself from important aspects of the project, i respect his guts.

Is he really returned the money or just joking on the social media?

If this is true then it could be the trending talk right now in the crypto world and probably a best thing we can see like someone returning 14 millions after successfully stole it and in just few days of the exit scam attempt.

I think it was the CZ that influenced his decisions, Binance got a strong reputational blow because of this whole situation.

yeah, could be, Binance listed Sushi after few days of existence, which is not in line with deep and thorough check that should be done for each new project listed, and obviously Binance did not check Sushi at all, just listed it, and also CZ tweeted that trading is highly risky and then deleted tweet, probably after thinking it again what could be the boomerang effect for Binance

Or he was afraid of being killed. Maybe i am too skeptical of his sincere apologies and he really means what he says. Who really cares at this point. Damage is already done. At least he came back, this could have been even worse situation.

sushi is like $2.70 are we good to dive into it right now then?  13% green right after his tweet.

this is the first of the kind that we are witnessing so he must want to project to proceed and on with the bullrun to happen. something must have made him change his mind not just jail time. maybe he realized he could get more than what he had right now if he waited for the next few more months after BTC hit ATH.
We don't know what his plan and how sincere he is in apologising but I hope he is really sincere. There will be a need for lockup, the longer the better  to avoid him doing these again since it can happen again once the money reach higher value.

Founders should not be dazzled by money to improve their project more and just be contended that many supports his idea. If I'm a founder I should think for long term progress of the project and how it can be keep in the volatile market where not all coins were able to be noticed. I hope he realize it thatt they were lucky enough to be noticed that's why he return the money.

I think he got spooked. He obviously did not expect so much attention or he thought he would be able to disguise his actions in some way.
It took him a while to realize that the cat was out of the bag and that it wouldn't end well for him.

Apart from the fact that I have never trusted, and probably never will trust, the whole Defi- Circus, I find it a little bit amusing...
So for me, the so named Nomi, would definitely have lost all reputation and trustworthiness irretrievably!

Imagine that he just does that, because he realized, there is much more money to be made.
The potential of Defi is supposed to advance to undreamt of dimensions, they say...
Why only $14 Million dollar instead of for example $140 Million?
Scams like Onecoin have even managed to reach several billion dollar without any real blockchain...

we need public statement from the team on some of the claim on his return to the project, they need to acknowledgement of fund reception. Obviously he should never be in a role in disposal of fund. I also expect the team to put some of the fund into buy back of coin to help hoarding the coin. The fund at the moment is not in the project and it is easy to divert for personal use

I think it's canceled, I think the founder is not confident with the scam attempt he did and just ask for forgiveness. But it's really good he comes up with the decision to give back the investments, This occurrence is rare tho.

Ofcourse some investors wouldn't be satisfied just by apologizing, I agree that this can cause a new problem but it won't be fatal as it supposed to be.

He became a world wide sensations because of his exit scam and that spooked him to come out and apologize to everyone or CZ who took the heat for the event by allowing these scams happen in binance and CZ is settling with him to come out and do these things and he will compensate to make him look good and for his exchange. The founder is still anonymous to the general public and there is no way he would come out unless there is something going on in the background.

If only more people had that attitude.

For most people saying sorry is the most difficult thing in the world.

Even if he now makes much less money from it it will be clean and honestly earned money.

@lawmaster @scott_lew_is @danielque @tomhschmidt @rleshner and other Crypto OGs. @DegenSpartan @mewn21 @intocryptoast and other degen friends. I failed your expectation. I am sorry.
