You'd likely be losing more when the packets hit your ISP connection than your router. Most ISP connections (even cable and FiOS or something similar) are like 5-8 Mbps, once the single is split out among everyone in your neighborhood.

But either way no miner needs that kinda speed.   They use very little bandwidth.

Very true... I just did a speed test and it looks like I'm getting 30mbps down and 6 up. The upload speed is where it would matter.

I don't know if this is true yet.  A lot of places at this point have fiber and you can get 50+ on speed.   My town is not the most technological yet they have ran fiber through the whole town.

Thanks for the info that is what I am currently running and I just wanted to make sure I was not loosing any hashing power.

The miners only sends&receives only few kb per second!

As said above even an 10megabit switch is more than enough Wink

Does it matter if I use a 10/100 switch for mining or do I need a gigabit.

10Mb is more than enough.
