The first T20 match between New Zealand women's team and Bangladesh women's team was played today in Christchurch. The series will consist of three T20 and three ODI matches. In the first match, New Zealand set a target of 165 for the loss of just 3 wickets. That's a good enough collection to win against a team like Bangladesh. And I was sure that New Zealand would win easily. But I don't expect the Bangladesh team to bat so badly. Bangladesh Women's team batted 14.5 overs. But their total collection is only 32 runs. The Bangladesh team was defeated by a margin of 132 runs. Bangladesh lost the first 5 batsmen by just 12 runs.

BCCI has to realize that the women’s IPL is not going to generate as much money as the men’s IPL is doing right now. Because honestly, the women’s IPL is barely popular. Even the NBA which I believe is the most popular sport all around the world right now is not getting enough revenue generated when it comes to the WNBA. So this is honestly a big risk for quite a low reward.

I believe everyone in BCCI, stakeholders, including fans are aware of this reality.

Yeah WNBA is kinda subsidized by NBA in general so that would be a challenge in WIPL too and the goal should be self sufficiency in the longer run, even if it faces some roadblocks for a year or two.

Not sure about the whole subcontinent but in India landscape is changing for sure. In the Indian context (it's also true for others too), I guess no one is expecting them to take over Men's cricket in any form but just being self-sufficient would be great.
BCCI is about to float tenders for 5 teams and the base price is 400cr INR. Let's see how WIPL goes and progresses in the next 3-5 years.

The base price seems to be a bit steep for me. I am not forgetting the fact that two franchises in the IPL recently got sold for ₹7,090 crores and ₹5,625 crores respectively. But here we are talking about women's cricket and at least during the initial phases the franchises may be in red. A better idea would have been to allow the existing IPL franchises to come up with their own women's team, without any license fee. Nowadays, the BCCI is hell bent upon making money from their franchise leagues and WIPL is no different for them in this regard.
When Men's IPL started in 2007-08, the base price was around 450 cr INR so after 14 years WIPL base price looks balanced.
But i understand why this amount looks big to some if we consider the fan base (obv). Yeah, I agree Ideally, existing franchises should've been given the first right to buy the teams as they are in a better place to subsidize (rev, infra, fan base) their Women's team in comparison to a new buyer but don't know what's BCCI thought process, maybe they are hoping for some inflated bids during an auction.

Inflation had a big impact on the increase of money of IPL. And people have to understand that the value of money in 2007-2008 is not the same as in 2022. But at the same time, I am not saying that the price has not increased. The price has certainly increased because as there are going to be more viewers, the awning will also be big and the revenue will also get bigger, and so does the net worth.

BCCI has to realize that the women’s IPL is not going to generate as much money as the men’s IPL is doing right now. Because honestly, the women’s IPL is barely popular. I beg to differ, the way i see it. Women's cricket in India will win big in this charade be it a big bidding war or even fetching a base price.

We saw how drastically Men's cricket improved in terms of the talent pool so i believe drastic improvement is going to happen in Indian Women's cricket in the next 4-5 years due to WIPL.

Yeah, these guys are fucking up with the selection process when it comes to Men's cricket but that's a different discussion.

Perhaps you are right. Back in 2008, Rajasthan Royals was sold to Emerging Media, for a sum of $67 million. And recently, the two new IPL franchises got auctioned for almost $1 billion each. That represents an increase of close to 15 times in around 15 years. The same may happen with women's cricket as well. But then, I am not expecting crazy appreciation similar to what we witnessed back in 2008-22 period. The base price is already high, and the market is more or less saturated. So it will take some more time for the franchises to break even.

In South Asia, cricket has become a prestige issue. The best example is what happened during the IPL team auctions. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants attracted really crazy bids, which made no sense at all. Lucknow Super Giants were sold for a record bid of ₹7,090 crores, which makes it impossible for the franchise to break even. The same may happen during the WIPL auctions as well. Some of the bids may fetch crazy amounts. It is beneficial for the BCCI, but I am not sure about the overall impact on women's cricket in India.

Even within South Asia, there is a large variation in popularity of the women's game. Indian women's recent tour of England, as well as the women's Asia Cup attracted record audiences, while in countries such as Pakistan there is very little interest in women's cricket. And in SENA nations, franchise leagues such as W100 and WBBL generate revenues that are close to what the men's leagues generate. Women's cricket has evolved over the years and it's growth will continue to outpace that of the men's variety in the next few years. But I don't think that women will overtake men, in terms of revenue and popularity.
Even Ramiz Raja announces about WPSL, and they are working on this but most chances this could be the worst for them because in Pakistan things are no easy for the women's sport but good thing they are working on this and have positive development under Ramiz Raja which is good for the game and women's in this region here we can't compare this with India and SENA because difference is very big and financial problems are also surrounding Pakistan here I can say WIPL can generate better revenue and surely this could be good for the Indian women's game with strong economy and system is surely going to help them, and they can compete with SENA but for any other country in this region it's long term dream because life is not easy with default risk is also on head.
Although Ramiz Raja is planning WPSL and is working on that but what's more important than him is franchises who should show interest in women's cricket and their leagues as their support is extremely important to promote their cricket in pakistan.
Unfortunately the teams have to be supported by a strong franchise and we hope that happens in Pakistan that  will have a great positive impact on cricket worldwide.

Viewership numbers are low for women's cricket but the numbers posted by Hamza2424 look like a doomsday scenario in women's cricket.

But IMHO overall situation is not that bad, at least in SENA. Also, things are surely improving drastically in India as well and surprisingly BCCI taking the right steps in favor of Women's cricket, WIPL is about to become reality because of this.

The current cricket revolves around BCCI or India. Until BCCI doesn't launch and IPL for women, things wont improve for women cricket. Even Indian women players are advised by BCCI to go and play T20 leagues in Australia and England to gain experience. While there is no NOC for male players for playing any other T20 league. Right now only Australia, England and Newzeland are giving importance to women cricket.
In recent times, India and Pakistan have started to give the importance to women's cricket. The way they want to proceed will make a big difference in the performance of the women's cricket team. No matter where women's cricket financial condition is situated at present but women's cricket will also be profitable in the future.
Importance for the women's team is a must and slowly Asian countries have realised it and are working on it. Nothing big, the importance will drive more women into cricket. If women's cricket isn't supported, surely players won't show interest to play good cricket.

It looks like the days of ODI and test matches have begun. There is no T20 matches for long. Countries like Ghana, Nigeria are playing one off tournament.

When women can show more maturity in cricket, woman cricket will be more stronger. In this regard a player have to be fit for all the aspects. Women cricket is far behind comparatively mens cricket. If they were able to recover a lot from that position. In recent times, various companies have also been trying to give sponsorship. I think women cricket like mens will be able to move forward in the coming days.
Dear from the technical and other aspects Women's T20I cricket is far away. A major questions for the sponsors is how to bring intrest of audience as ita not their job they are most affected ones by the number of audience. Actually there is the lack of the intrest in the Women's Cricket especially in the Asian Region, according to their culture.

Women cricket is less agressive than men's cricket that is why viewership is less. Organizing WIPL won't help in viewership unless these cricketers start working on agression. I haven't seen a lot of close matches in women's cricket and there are a few batters & bowlers who have shown that they can win matches all by themselves.
If the T20 game is not aggressive then the audience or spectators are not interested in that game. When women's cricket have good teams and players who have the game changing power in any situation then women's cricket fan will increased and their cricket can be quite profitable. To create that situation, the cricket organization and all concerned must take initiative.
