So yes, technically you could transfer in and purchase, you would just have to sit and wait until everything gets restored.

Ok:

1)  last I heard its just wire time to send money in.  so 3-5 business days.  but that was months ago.  anyone know if sending from US accounts takes longer than that going IN?

2)   Can you clarify - wait until what is restored?   If all they've done is halt fiat withdrawals, then putting money in and buying BTC should be unhindered, no?

BittBurger, BTC withdrawals have been halted indefinitely until the transaction malleability fixes are implemented. This is not only on MTGOX, but many of the other exchanges as well. This is why we are seeing the drops in price, people are exiting BTC and holding USD on the side lines.

Or you could just try and buy in the RealBTC for Gox BTC thread.

Risky. You might end buying BTC from some account that gets suspended. BTC transactions from Gox to Gox are reversible. Smiley

Last I heard deposits are working, I don't know how much of a delay there is (if any). So yes, technically you could transfer in and purchase, you would just have to sit and wait until everything gets restored.

Well i was always under the impression that you could wire *in* to Gox even from the USA

You just couldn't cash out to USD ...

False?

Well, yes, but how long does that take? The longer it takes, the more likely it is withdrawals will be restored and you no longer want your money in there.

The minute withdrawals are restored, the gap will be gone. The gap you see now is because of people thinking Bitcoin is doomed, or that it would be easier to get EUR/USD out of an insolvent Gox than BTC.

I was about to suggest Money Polo or OKPay, but it looks like they removed those options.

Anyone know anything about that?

I know Gox can't do "withdrawals".  is that withdrawals of BTC from their online wallet to another one?

In other words, could someone get USD  *in* to Gox right now and purchase BTC then transfer that  BTC out to a local wallet?

At a price of $416 it would be worth the effort.
