Not all technical questions go into "tech support", while the name might be misleading its the board where you ask questions regarding bitcoin core mainly and not the protocol in general.

Apologies for being unclear here, but by "technical board" I meant "Development and Technical Discussion", not "Technical Support".  The former is where I posted the thread.  Either way, I think you summed it up best with "Its your personal assessment that the suggested changes are not possible within bitcoin that lead to the thread beeing moved."  I will use this to guide me in the future.  Thanks.

No I dont escrow anymore.

I wouldn't have created this thread if my other post had nothing to do with the board in which I posted it.  The actual thread, for reference: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/tx-malleability-for-altcoins-1036572.  My first question there was a technical question.

But I didn't create this thread to talk about that thread, at this point I care more about what to do about future questions of the same type.

Your are free to discuss possible changes to the bitcoin protocol in "dev & tech discussion"[1]. If you dont want to risk that the thread gets moved into the altcoin section do not suggest it as a change for an altcoin. Its your personal assessment that the suggested changes are not possible within bitcoin that lead to the thread beeing moved.

When you post anything about altcoins or cryptocurrencies that are not bicoin, you should post it in the Altcoin board. Do not try to get more attention by posting in a more popular board which has nothing to do with the actual thread. This will only get your post removed

Furthermore, your response doesn't make sense.  The altcoin board is way more popular than the technical board.  My reason for posting to the technical board is that the kind of people who can answer my question are more likely to frequent that board than the altcoin board.

Not the answer I was hoping for, but thanks for the quick response.  Do you have any recommended forums for altcoin developers?  Or if I've misjudged the bitcointalk altcoin forum?

Just google 'altcoin forum' and take your pick:

https://allcryptotalk.com
https://cryptocointalk.com
http://altcointalk.org/

Those were the first three hits (but I'm not endorsing or recommending them just to clarify).

Not getting an answer to your question isn't a good reason to post in the wrong section, and reposting the thread would not be advisable, especially if you attempt to obfuscate the point of the thread after having had your thread moved once (you should consider that a mild warning).

Licking my boob since 1970
I recently posted a such question to the technical forum, but a mod moved it to the altcoin forum, where I feel it is much less likely to be answered.  I can rephrase the question in such a way that it does not explicitly mention altcoins, but it will probably still be clear that I'm asking for purposes related to altcoin development (basically, I can treat it like a hypothetical Bitcoin hard-fork).  I just don't want to annoy the mods on that board by asking questions that don't serve Bitcoin's interests.

My question here is what is the proper board to post such questions, and what is the proper context in which I should phrase them?

If it relates to altcoin development, it belongs in the altcoin forum.

This forum is for bitcoin discussion.
