You should check out Malwarebyte's YouTube channel. The guy behind the channel records the scams (either via phone or TeamViewer or anything like that), and then deals with the scammers (such as turning the tables...). This is just funny to see the scammers getting trolled. Malwarebytes (on the site), has a list of scam phone numbers, which might come in handy one day.
Check out the channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Malwarebytes
Videos trolling scammers are always funny. Well, this is what I do when I have a feeling it's a scam call. Tell them to hold the phone so that I can finish whatever. They wait. And wait. And wait. Then they hang up. Cheesy

Let me put it this way, any time a company or corporation tells you they won't sell or misuse your private data, they're lying, what's likely is these people have probably sold it on the black market for a quick buck.

Don't even bother giving them the time of day, just cut off the conversation and save yourself the trouble, if these people are real they'll use far more polite methods of contacting you, I firmly believe that landlines are primarily used by scammers now.

I didn't give him the time of day but when someone calls and asks for a person I have to answer. They have information. My address. My home number. I don't know how they got that. My stepdads name.
Nearly before ending the call I said "You have 10 seconds to explain yourself, to give proof" He started saying my address and I cut him off saying That's no proof.

It's a little exciting talking shit to an asshole scammer on the phone. Time has already been wasted anyway.

Don't take it too personal, that's my advice.
If you feel like you can't help it then install an App that records all phone calls, record this call and upload it to YouTube, share it with your friends on Facebook and other social networks and tell the guy he "has just shot himself in the leg" for tying to scam you and now he's exposed.

I don't think they care about being exposed. Searching the number online there are reports of scams originating from the number.
I suspect it's a call center making some money on the side by doing scams, or perhaps one dedicated to scams.

This guy calls me up. He claims to be calling from "Microsoft Windows" (after some bs).

I tell him "Microsoft Windows" is not a company. I sincerely doubt a software product is calling me.

His sound quality is shit. His pronunciation is that of a petulant Indian scammer.

He gets rude and says the call is pre-recorded. I tell him to go fuck himself. He argues. I argue.

I hang up.

I go to the FTC to report this nonsense (since I got the number, which is a known scam number) but didn't because it asked me how I payed and I didn't pay any money so I got bored with it.

I can't believe he was telling me to mind my talking while he was trying to explain his scam. I was talking over him, he was talking over me etc.

Next time I get this I'll make it personal just to get under their skin (if they call).

I'm not quite a good storyteller but I'd love to hear your stories.
