Isnt there a user here that sells quality risers? I have bought many different kinds of molex and only about 60% seem to work.

hawk's amazon store currently says unavailable. not sure if he plans to restock or not

I think that the reference 480s were the main cause of those dreadful images of burnt SATA cables.

We skipped long-term overclocking and overvolting tests, since the Radeon RX 480’s power consumption through the PCIe slot jumped to an average of 100W, peaking at 200W. We just didn’t want to do that to our test platform.

Now, what puzzles me is how the hell can SATA with its 25W power provide enough power to the pciex1 slot on the riser?

The answer is simple. SATA provides more than 90W of pure power!

So whoever started spreading that 25W bullshit needs to apologize for spreading... well, bullshit!

As I understood it, problems could arise if you're drawing more power from the cables than they are rated for.

In my case the GPU is 6-pin so 75W from the 6-pin cable and, I assume, the rest from the riser which is connected with a Sata cable.

sata = shit.
molex are good if you undervolt your gpu
pcie are best in all case.

There is nothing wrong with using the sata style, i have literally thousands of them running on everything from R9 380s to RX series as well as the power hungry R9 Fury. As long as you dont put more than 2-3 adapters per chain coming off of the PSU you wont have any problems

Hard to argue with your argument.

Hello,

I'm waiting for my 006C risers to arrive but have a lot of new 007S risers lying around (not from this seller but this kind: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Latest-version-ver-007S-board-PCI-E-PCI-E-Express-1X-to-16X-Riser-Card-USB/1627923_32766321782.html).

Would it be possible to use them for about a week until the others arrive? Of course, I would be using a single SATA cable to power each riser. The PSU is an EVGA G2 1300W.

I'd be running 6 Sapphire RX 570 Pulse Mini. The specs claim that it will use <150W (one 6 pin) but I could of course under volt it to use even less.

Thank you for your input.
