This is the first grand slam in ages where Djokovic & Federer aren’t going to figure in the latter stages. It makes it exciting & fresh, hopefully Nadal doesn’t win then we will have something new Smiley

Yes, we need some breath of fresh air to see a new champion in their years US Open. The women side has done it, with Bianca Andreescu winning over Serena Williams. So its time for Medvedev to really show his class against Nadal and inject his name in the discussion as the one who will going to replace those ageing tennis greats.

As a Nadal fan I’m hoping he wins this as I don’t think he’ll continue playing for long now, he’s had lots of injuries in the past and it’s only a matter of time before he calls it quits. While many are favouring Medvedev to win I feel Nadal has an advantage because he’s more experienced than Medvedev, and that’ll prove to be the key difference in this match. Serena Williams loosing is not a surprise loss, at her age I don’t think anyone was expecting her to win.

You're right mate. Nadal is still playing at a high level and it is really exciting to watch the match. Medvedev is done, make a good comeback has all the momentum in the final set, but I guess when you are really down with such great tennis player as Nadal, it will be really difficult to climb. But kudos to Medvedev wasn't his time to shine but he is fast rising and climbing the latter and could challenge anyone even the top 3 today.

I was in holiday for a week. No tele, no internet, in a remote place. So, it was obvious that I missed the semi and the final. However I was predicting a final between Nadal and Medvedev. Good to see that it was them in the final however I was also predicting Medvedev to win the trophy. But looking at the scoreboard I see it was a great fight and Medvedev was very close to have it even though he lost first two sets.

Missed a great battle. Good thing that I was out of touch or I would lose some money (gambling for Medvedev) LOL

Congratulations to Nadal and thamks to OP (Bossian) to create this topic. If it was not you then I may discover Medvedev after the final.

Oh well, the same guys win again & again. I was hoping to see Daniil Medvedev claim this title but sadly it wasn’t to be.

It wasn't his time yet. But man, Nadal put up some terrific tennis out there. It was his fourth US open trophy and his 19th grandslam champion. Medvedev has a bright future ahead in his teannis career and that time around is not yet his time.

At least we have seen someone stepping up and trying to challenge. The big 3 has been so dominant in the Grand Slams that I'm also hoping to see fresh faces winning but as you have said, it wasn't meant for Medvedev this year. But I'm sure in future Grand Slams he will try to break Nadal, Federer and Djokovic's dominance or see young and fresh talent to win.

You're right about the need of fresh air to see a new champ but there's different between what will happen and what people need. Besides, I said it the other day that it too early to decide if Medvedev will be the one to lift this year trophy which is what we see when Nadal beat him with 7,6,5,4,6.

It is no longer any surprise that Serena lost.
She has lost the last 4 big finals in the grand slams and obviously she can no longer psychologically withstand the great pressure that goes with such matches.
Nadal is different and also have more experience than Medvedev.
Medvedev will be under a lot of pressure, like never before in his life.
Not sure if he will be able to overcome it and play good well.

I'd like to differ. Nadal would be an easy opponent for Medvedev. The whole tournament has been in his favor as he didn't needed to face with the players that could really give him a challenge. It's really surprising to see Medvedev getting such a large odds. I'd blindly bet on Medvedev this time.

Yes, the women's game is very interesting. Unexpected changes took place with the young blood just 19 years old has taken the trophy on the first time participation itself. Serena gave her full effort to win the match, but what Bianca played is unbeatable. The second match too seems to be a fight back, yet Nadal has got the higher winning chance.

I really want Dimitrov or Medvedev to win US open this year. It's gets really boring when Nadal,Federer and Jokovic win everything.I can't predict what will happen, because I'm not an expert in tennis, but I would bet on Medvedev.Tall tennis players are the future of tennis(unfortunately).
I'm also rooting for him, I'm not really familiar with him but when he played and beat Wawrinka, I was like,, this player is legit and could be a champ this US open. Wawrinka beat Novak Djokovic which was suppose to be my bet to win this competition, I understand because the guy is playing with some injury so because Wawrinka beat my guy and Medvedev  beat Wawrinka, I'm with him all the way.

In womens US open, I'll support Williams to win, obviously since Osaka is out.

Medvedev have been delivering good performance lately and luck has totally favored him this time. Though we could not underestimate the players like Dimitrov or Nadal, there are no big names in the semi finals this year. Nadal has always struggled in the grass court. Not only we be seeing a new US Open champion, Medvedev could be the next tennis champion and replace the likes of Djokovich and Federer.

It's not luck that favored medvedev but he has a great control over the ball. I love how he return the ball against Dimitrov and he win it in a beautiful passion. I think he can be this year's US open champion.

Federer has an easy draw though. Nadal's draw is a bit trickier.
And Djokovic's has a mine field in front of him: Querrey, Wawrinka, Medvedev.

Another pick is Daniil Medvedev reaches the final @ 7.0.

Constructive opinions always welcome!!  Tongue

Yes, Medvedev and Nadal are the only players who make it to the final stage of this year US open.
I think user DeathAngel is somehow good in tennis prediction because he actually said the two players will play the final of this year tournament and I was somehow against it because I thought G. Dimitrov will be a tough opponent for Medvedev.

Tomorrow's semi final will give a conclusion on which player to reach the finals. From the previous games played I believe it's the chance for Dimitrov than Medvedev. As in the above quote the height of the player matters big in tennis, still this can't be the deciding factor to win the game.

Did you guys tail the pick Medvedev reaches the semis? Smiley Hope you made money!
Could even get to the final.
Man I am having the feeling to see him to lift the trophy. This is the best chance for him. The only BIG gun for him is Nadal at the moment. This tournament is not favoring the top ranks anymore.

Nadal is also playing exceptionally well in this tournament and doesn't have that five set extended game. So far he has rested his body very well here and Medvedev is fighting very hard to stay in the contention.

Federer is out, but Nadal is still in contention but definitely the game was blown open with the ouster of Roger. But I wouldn't sleep on Nadal here, for me he is still the favorite to bag this crown.

You're right about Djokovic and Federer absent in this grand slam but I'm sorry to disappoint you about Nadal not reaching the final stage because I don't see M. Berrettini having the possible experience to beat Nadal.

Bossian, Medvedev has already make it to the USTA semi finals.
Royse777, no doubt Medvedev is in good shape but I think it's too early to decide if he's going to lift the trophy cause he still have to face G. Dimitrov in the semis game and Nadal or whoever makes it to the final behind Nadal, Berrettini, Monfils or Schwartzman

How do you keep Djokovic and Federer out of equations?

Federer : Five US open title

Didn't win since 2008. Betting against Federer this tournament is a sure win at some point.

Tbh I'm kinda rooting for Djokovic to reach semis than Goffin but yeah, as you said it, the road will be pretty hard and tedious especially Medvedev who seemed to be in a good playing form right now. Federer, well, yeah, Cincinnati, but then again you can't rule out how this man controls the tempo of his games even though he somewhat played bad in Cincinnati, especially against Rublev who's basically a rookie when compared with Roger's experience. We'll see how it goes, but I have my pick for Djokovic and I believe he can get past the hurdles, but he will have to earn it.
Good luck.

I placed a bet on Karen Khachanov @ 85 to win the US Open. Big gamble but it was a thought bet:
- he can beat Nadal if he plays a tad better than last year
- he can beat Djokovic (see last year final in Paris)
- Federer? Who cares, the old man is washed up

Only player I would worry about is Medvedev.

Oh man, don't count the old man out. When Federer is in good condition, I know he can defeat anyone. Also why don't you root for djokovic? This man is the best player out there, hopefully injury will not hindehttp://r him this time in the US open.

I am not betting on Djokovic, mainly because his odds are crap.

Also, remember two weeks ago!

Just watched the clip and impressive. I spotted this Medvedev fella one day ago and his ranking, the talk about him so far are impressive.

Yap, you got me there for both Djokovic and Federer. I will be following today's match between Medvedev vs Dellien. I need to see a full match of Medvedev.

I too just watched the video.
This kid is impressive. At just the early age of 23, he is the highest ranked tennis player below the age of 25 at current times. Ranked 5 at the moment just below Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Thiem. He has a great future if he's able to keep up with his performance and work harder to remain fit and learning.

or
Medvedev vs. Kyrgios.

any idea if there is any btc site still offering the winner outrights ? I want to bet on the WTA but can't find it anywhere
I guess there is good value with Barty and Andreescu but not sure if I can bet with the bitcoin sites

Barty is priced 12.5 and Andreescu is priced 15 on betfair , both has really good value IMO but the volume there isn't that big if you want to bet over 200 euros ( unless someone matched more which may happen )
Fairlay has the outright markets for both men and women. Their website is not very easy to follow though, liked the old version better.

not able to find them even now , are you sure they were available after I made my post cause I checked at that time as well and couldn't find them
if you can get the link please post it here or DM me , maybe there is a bug with the search in Fairlay but couldn't find anything related to outrights for the US open
I don't know if links work, try this https://fairlay.com/markets/?q=us%20open

I knew that injury can be managed by him, but true skills will prevail at the midst of the game. Federer is indeed skillfull guy in the world of tennis, but if ever its not his lucky day of course losing the game was just a part of every journey.

Like soo much boring. Every tournament you already know it's either Federer or Djokovic. Andy Murray has always been a follow follow kind of player, very incapable of breaking into the top spot. I kind of like what's happening in female tennis lately where finales has suddenly becomes unpredictable, unlike before.

any idea if there is any btc site still offering the winner outrights ? I want to bet on the WTA but can't find it anywhere
Have you tried sportsbet.io?
Usually they have possibly all sorts of markets. Lately I was out of touch from Tennis but now just noticed that US open is underway and I can not stop but coming back for Tennis now.

Edit:

Okay I see they have the market but with zero active. They sometimes do inactive the data from the market. You may keep checking with them to find the active market.

David Goffin to reach semifinals @ 13.0

You heard it first  Kiss

Of course it's a bold pick, but Federer looked poor in Cincinnati, and Nishikori is very mediocre lately.

Full draw:

Federer has an easy draw though. Nadal's draw is a bit trickier.
And Djokovic's has a mine field in front of him: Querrey, Wawrinka, Medvedev.

Another pick is Daniil Medvedev reaches the final @ 7.0.

Constructive opinions always welcome!!  Tongue
