I'm all for being green. However, I am hoping that by the time I purchase a new car, the technology for a full electric car will have significantly improved. Like, really better. Maybe something like, all of the sudden I can just plug into the regular power socket instead of having to have a special charging unit.

The future is hydrogen fuel cells. Current electric cars are just a stage in their development. Toyota already have some on the roads.
