Many people and investors are thinking that bitcoin's price was manipulated at late 2017. It might be manipulation which caused bitcoin price to go near 20,000$ or bitcoin was at all media, news, everyone was talking about bitcoin so maybe that could be the reason too.
Tether and Bitfinex are held liable for Bitcoin manipulation. Criminal investigations are heard to be filed. Let's see if the allegations come true or not.
with the increasing in the growth of the market, scammers smell money and will do whatever it takes to make money easily by conning people. these type of investigations will help the people in the cryptocurrency market to know which coins, projects and tokens are safe for the people.
If this is really going to work out and they won’t quit on the long run only if it’s real. Then, it’s still a great development.

as i remember investigations about tether were all completed positivily and they decided that they have enough usd for created tethers in crypto market so i dont thing there will be any problem regarding tether.

the popularity of cryptocurrencies is increasing day by day. New investors are entering the market and new coins are being created frequently. The risks of investors is always high, as with market fluctuation some companies are tapping into the market to maximize their own profit which will leave the coin holders in loss.
i think tether will fail miserably because crypto is crypto and fiat is fiat no one care about fiat anymore go and choose some asset class like realestate gold silver

I hope it is not true. The consequences of this would be too heavy for all of us. I always found Tether's money funding dangerous, but that's a serious claim.
I think it’s alarming for the investors. Don’t invest which coin is scam. Before invest you need to research about their performance and customers feedback. If you think everything is alright then you can invest. But i suggest you invest on bitcoin.

Too bad we hearing such a disgusting news information, however proper investigations need to be carry out before conclusions are made. If the news is found to be true then the management of Tether and Bitnifex has not done well. Let us be patience and should not panic.

The token is issued against dollars.
They claim to have equal amount of dollars as the tether token.
But newer investigation suspects they are lying.
There are already more than 3 billion tether and they don't believe a broken exchange like bitfinex can afford to keep that money liquid.
