Omicron is another FUD
This is very interesting..  I have a plan for a vacation to Thailand and this service will definitely be very helpful for travelers who want to use crypto as payment.  I hope that cryptocurrencies will be increasingly adopted in the future so that everyone can easily transact and track transactions in real-time.

This is nice to know that bitcoin is now accepted even as things as little as payment for taxi that won't cost much and coming to this forum to make it known shows this is a huge publicity forum for bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
Surely, bitcoin adoption will first get more concentrated from a bitcoin community like this.

Here in India, we don't have any service providers accepting Bitcoin, because the government has banned the usage of BTC in making payments. So we are currently making use of some of the loopholes. Users like me are first converting our Bitcoins to Uber gift cards and then using these gift cards to make payments. Very smooth process, although the mark-up is a bit high.

Nothing lasts forever

I decided to do a quick google search after seeing this thread to see if people were actually paying in bitcoins for their taxi rides in Thailand, and the end result is that they’re not paying in Bitcoins but they’re using fiat a lot to pay for their rides.

Even if people are using more fiat for their transactions I will still consider accepting bitcoin as a great move.
Why ? Because it will promote bitcoin's use as a payment. It will also promote bitcoin since there will be many who wouldn't know about bitcoin.
So even if they are paying in fiat, it will make them aware of bitcoin and that there is such a currency which exists.
May be this is how they learn more about bitcoin and may be start using it some day.

So it's been months but you're still working, right? I don't leave and Thailand and tend to use public transport, but I think it's good that you allow people to pay with Bitcoin. Could you share your experience with us? How many of your cars rides occur per day or month? Are your prices typical market prices in the area or are they higher? Has anyone used the crypto option yet? If paying in crypto worth the same as fiat, less than in fiat or more than in fiat?
It's just really interesting how crypto adoption works or doesn't work for local businesses.

Therefore I wish to know what kind of promotions are you’ll doing to market your services, and what happens if the transfer gets stuck due to low amounts of confirmations how will you settle the payments?.

I don't think that it would be a surprise after all people who have crypto on their hands would rather hold it than spend it.
If they have Fiat then why would they even choose to pay with crypto if the price could go up any moment?

This can actually be a start of something big. By adoption of Bitcoin in everyday thing such as transportation, more Bitcoin and non-Bitcoin users can be saved. This can help promote Bitcoin as long as there will be certain rules to be imposed by the service agency or the company. If this is still a plan, I think many factors should be considered first such as the how's and do's. But if this is really in motion already, then the thing to do is to review customer's satisfaction to be able to maximize the use of Bitcoin.

That's a great initiative on the part of the Taxi Services in Thailand. Many people use taxis throughout the day and accepting bitcoin as payment will introduce bitcoin to the general public and not only the technologically inclined group. But I just want to know that apart from bitcoin, which other cryptocurrency do they accept and to how many confirmations do they approve a payment?

In addition to what Juggy777 said, i think that using bitcoin for taxi paiements is useless and not efecient for several reasons like the high volatility in btc price and mining difficulties plus the extra amount for the transaction fee.

It would be more logic using a stable coin price like Fiat or Usdt.

This kind of news is really most welcome. This is the kind of adoption that everyone wants, right? This is Bitcoin being used on the ground as actual payment, as a currency. My wish for Bitcoin is exactly this, that it can be used as an actual currency of the masses, to buy a kilo of rice, to pay for taxi fare, to buy clothes, to pay for a set of meal, and so on. Calling it useless and not efficient is rebuffing this development.

Volatility is not much of a factor if you are paying for a mere 50k Sats or around that price. Fee is also not a factor if they are using a local app which offers free transactions among users. If I am not mistaken, such is offered by coins.co.th in Thailand.
Am not against the adoption of cryptos in our daily life, it's a commun goal. But let's not be stupid while using it.
Volatility and transaction fees are major problems if we want to discuss how the project will function. Am not ready to pay half a dollar extra for the network fee in order to pay a taxi course of two dollars. It's a real problem to determine btc price at the exact time of paiement.
FIAT money is working good with taxi services, but for a great company like Uber, it can adopt crypto if it can solve some of the issues i mentioned.
I would like to hear reasonable opinions about this. Note that there is still no confirmations about the service being successful in Thailand.

Nice to know that Thailand has a Taxi service accepting BTC and crypto payments. Is payment with BTC or crypto legal there? I just doubt the regulation there since it is still illegal in my country (Indonesia). However, I know that every country may have different regulations and laws.

Anyway, I am curious about the reasons that you accept Bitcoin for the payments. Do you have special reasons? It should be interesting to see your explanation. In addition, I'll be more surprised if it is the first time Taxi service to accept BTC and crypto there.

*I suggest you improve your site appearance and provide more information there.

It's always a piece of great news to hear local businesses accepting bitcoin as a means of payment. It is by adoption only that cryptocurrencies would find there way among general public.
Your facebook page hasn't been updated for over a year! You have got to share that you now accept bitcoin as well because that's the way to get your potential customers from Thailand to be aware of this, just posting on this forum is not enough as we are a much smaller part of your target audience.
