Thank you all for the reply. And I’m so glad that TMAN didn't bash me for shitty English skills Grin. My conscience is clear, good to feel relieved now. Apologize again for creating this selfish thread. I'm locking it.

So far I haven't received similar messages and I think it's unnecessary. Let's say you are Merit source and you award lot of users each day. And if many of these users then would send you "thank you for a merit" PM, would you be happy.
But sometimes when I send my sMerit and reply to post of that user, later this user reply to my post and some of them say "thank you for Merit. I don't see nothing wrong in this case.

I think some people just have the irrefrenable instinct to use the word sir, it's something beyond their control.
You're right, Sir.

I've had a few "thank you" PMs. They were from new members, and I can understand why they sent them. I've sent and received a few hundred merits, so it's easy to forget the thrill of the first merit. I don't get stressed over it, and I appreciate that the guy is being polite, and that seems to be a rarity on the net these days. I think if I started to get a lot of them, then I might start to worry.

The best reward for me is for the poster to think " Hey I'm doing something correctly, and the community recognises this", and for him to carry on making good posts.

For me, it is unnecessary to PM someone over a merit given. Just keep doing the hard work, contribute more, and do not cheat, that is the way how to thanks properly for people who gave you merit (because they help you to rank up).

What do you think of messages like "thank you for the merit sir" in Inbox?
Totally unnecessary. It would be like sending thank-you messages for Instagram likes.

Hello, sorry for creating another merit thread.

What do you think of messages like "thank you for the merit sir" in Inbox? Is it the acceptable way of courtesy exchanges? It can be stepping out of boundaries to clog someone's Inbox and you could express a gratitude otherwise. I can imagine that members which usually give merits, do it several times a day and might not be happy to get that kind of messages. Or I'm ungrateful SOB and totally wrong?  Huh
I received PM like that once and had a mixed feeling. It wasn't unpleasant (hell, it was my first given merit and I was proud! Tongue) but felt unnecessary.
