We should thank all the idiots for the cheap coins. They give Bitcoin free publicity in the media < Bloomberg > and we get more expose to the general public.

This is JP Morgan's track record : http://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/jpmorgan-chase

When these people make desperate statements like this, you know they are up to something. Everyone should applaud him for his actions, because people already hate institutions like this and they just opened up old wounds.

Bring it on, we just love all the free publicity, even if it is negative. This gets people talking about the things that started all this. Satoshi did not introduce this technology because it was just another fun project. It was perfectly timed after the near collapse of the world economy. < Then the government jumped in and bailed out these companies with tax payers money. >

We will NEVER forget this. Thank you Jamie for reminding us. ^smile^

In every situation, there is an opportunity which is what smart people have been doing. Its a risk though but we are willing to take such risk afterall the higher the risk, the bigger the reward and that is  exactly what is happening. While the doubting individual will still come later after recovery and whine about some people getting into bitcoin early not knowing that early happens every time and its not only a matter of time or years but gets in.

I think his comment is just another one like all the others, it will make only a few nervous but the real bitcoin people couldn't care less what these banking people have to say, of course they will try to derail bitcoin as it directly opposes their sinister business.

I agree with your point of view. My first reaction was to roll my eyes.

I know that the timing coincided well, but I don't buy that someone making a negative comment about Bitcoin has caused a 9% drop!
People speak out against Bitcoin almost every day, I think it is just chance that Jamie Whatshisface spoke out, then the price fell.

That's not to say that the price will recover, but it probably will.

His timing should not be underestimated. We have seen a drop in the price before he made his statement, because the Chinese banned ICO's. Then rumours started that the Chinese are going to ban Bitcoin and close all Bitcoin exchanges. < a further drop in the price > Then Jamie jumped in and made some negative comments as CEO of JP Morgan. < this added fuel to the fire and the Bitcoin price dropped even further >

This all started because his daughter is invested in Bitcoin and she is outperforming his investments. ^smile^
I will quote him, " I'm not saying 'go short bitcoin and sell $100,000 of bitcoin before it goes down," he said. "This is not advice of what to do. My daughter bought bitcoin, it went up and now she thinks she's a genius." Jamie Demon

Nothing lasts forever
What if there is something really fishy behind his statement ? I have two situations in my mind which might be a possibility for Jamie statement.
1. Jamie's friends who are whales tell him to make a statement like this so that Bitcoin's price would drop and then they benefit out of the situation.
Don't tell me what's in it for Jamie as his whale friends could easily generate more money and give some to him.
2. Jamie himself wanted to buy bitcoins but considered it a costly investment and so made the statement to decrease Bitcoin's price so that he could buy more for less money.
Just some assumptions with no certain facts.

Yeah there are two problems with this conspiracy theory.

1) If it was indeed caused by that guy it means that a lot of bitcoin holders trust this guy more than everything else.
So, it's quite a disturbing scenario.

2) If you really dig deep I don't think there is a single day when somebody hasn't called bitcoin a ponzi scheme in the papers. Probably on Christmas and Easter.

So I think is pure coincidence and if it is related it's more likely that his statement was caused by the first drop and not the other way around.
