It remains as legal tender provided certain aspects of the actual bill are still visible/discernible

Correct... https://cdn5-ss4.sharpschool.com/UserFiles/Servers/Server_80688/File/Departments/Business%20Office/How%20to%20Detect%20a%20Counterfeit%20Dollar%20Bill.pdf

I don't understand how this is, "Actual legal tender Federal Reserve Notes" & "The face value of $2 (USD) is fully backed by the US government."
You should learn to google.... No wonder you put your foot in your mouth all the time  Huh Roll Eyes Grin

It is a real US $2 bill printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Legal tender. It is colorized by the Merrick Mint. They colorize real bills and coins for novelty. They also make a 50 cent piece with BTC colorized on it. There are other examples of US Silver Dollars, Canadian Maple Leafs, Niue Silver coins, and British Britannias etc. that are colorized with various themes. The bill and/or coin is not destroyed, still recognizable, and still valid to be spent at face value if you so choose.

I don't understand how this is, "Actual legal tender Federal Reserve Notes" & "The face value of $2 (USD) is fully backed by the US government."  Ignorance aside, this is a pretty cool piece.  I'm not sure it justifies the price tag for me personally, but if I collected Federal Reserve Notes this would be a no brainer addition to the collection.  Who knows, maybe this is something to grab and tuck away in the safe just because it's cool.  It shows have far Bitcoin has come that such a thing even exists.

Uhh, nice. If only they were limited to 1k or something like that. Cheesy

We did a group buy on these last year at some point. A doge one as well.
Oh wow, they probably rode Elon's hype train back then?

Just checked, still available: https://www.jmbullion.com/2-dogecoin-legal-tender-note/

Does anyone how this works - who decide which designs can become legal tender in the US?
Don't think anything like this exists with the Euro.
