Yeah that is the reality of bitcoin holders but when someone wants to buy a new car and they have option to buy with bitcoin then why they are not interested in spending the crypto but they will spend the same equivalent amount to buy it with Fiat.

If you read post on page 1, there are two links that show it is possible to buy LL and many other car in EU also with BTC. What is true is that people have a hard time deciding to spend large amounts of BTC, because they are waiting for some magical moment when its price will rise at least to six-digit numbers.

Thanks for the very interesting information, below the seemingly ordinary advertisement there are obviously a lot of related interests with BTC and blockchain. New technologies are something that needs to be explored and applied to business if possible, and there seems to be serious work being done here.

Actually you can buy a car by paying in cryoto currency in countries like Japan if I remembered it correctly which itself didn't bring considerable effect towards adoption of cryptos yet.But this is a good thing atleast other people will find they can buy anything with bitcoin and its not been used by hackers only.

Hope you are aware that the parent company of Land Rovers is not just a car company but it is much bigger than that.

Since the parent company is not just a car company but the parent company is Tata Group which own Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) which is one of the largest IT companies in the world and they are doing projects related to BTCitcoin and blockchain for the past several years which i personally know and mentioning BTCitcoin in an advertisement is not just recognizing in an advertisement but they are creating projects in the blockchain space through TCS and funding developers to research.

For people who are not aware of the vast empire of the Tata group they are into different business around the globe in over 100 countries including the Taj hotels, Airlines, Automobiles including Tata motors, Steel, Communication sector and 25% of the global internet goes through their underground sea cables, eCommerce sites, Chemical plants and then the IT giant in TCS and many other ventures. So a company that big which is having presence throughout the globe and advertising BTCitcoin is not a small feat.

The total amount of people the Tata Group employ globally is much bigger than google, facebook, microsoft combined just to known how big the company is those who are not aware of it and it is an Indian company.

Companies like Land Rover have recognized Bitcoin that bitcoin is a very profitable technology. In the future, it will not only be a land rover, but there will be many other big companies that begin to look at bitcoin as a safer and better payment platform.
Adoption will be done with some adjustments, of course.

There is no doubt about bitcoin an important event in modern financial history and what i liked about the advertisement is that they owe and accept the fact that bitcoin is an important development which we do not see often, i am yet to see the advertisement but it good to see that major companies highlighting the importance of bitcoin promoting their product which i never expected a few years ago.

Big companies will soon fully adopt this new technology and today's situation where most people are preferred for online transactions it can be more advantageous to have this technology. Not only Land Rover did this but many others did earlier and could tell the benefits they get from this. jaguar Land Rover have a dedicated Distributed Ledger Technology team working on projects such as rewarding drivers with crypto for reporting road safety and environmental issues so its not too surprising they would mention Bitcoin in their ad. Its not much but it its a step in the right direction.

It would have been better if they did something bitcoin related, since they are selling stuff and people buy stuff with BTC.
 

You've deeply mistaken my criticism and at the same point acknowledging that I was right.
I was saying, as you can see in my post that the add "mentions" bitcoin, it doesn't at any point recognize the advantages of BTC like the title says.

If Land Rover would have recognized the advantages of BTC they would have done something, profiting from those. Instead, they used it as a piggyback ride for their own purpose. I'm going to be grateful to a company that mentions it in their promos when they will do something for it or with, not taking advantage of a userbase by showing them a shiny carrot and at the same time stabbing them in the back

Would it have been better if they hadn’t mentioned Bitcoin at all? It is a promotional advertisement for a company that produces cars, do you expect it to be logical that they promote Bitcoin in a way to put it in focus instead of their company?

I'm actually surprised how some bitcoiners are ungrateful because someone mentions Bitcoin in a more positive context, even for a few seconds. Perhaps the average bitcoiner likes to be placed on the margins of society or to be called "rat poison squared"?

There are a lot of companies already who revealed the same thing like land rover and yeah that is not news information so far. Even some of them have decided to make bitcoin as mean of payment for their costumer and I think that is the best part from the information. If they only say bitcoin is good for payment system but they don't decide to put bitcoin as their payment system yeah it is worthless. I don't think it may a regulation factor from the goverment or the demand for bitcoin is still lack. However, I hope sooner or later they can be realized to adopt bitcoin and for those countries which still not know bitcoin they will learn and accept it as well.

There are some freelancers who just make use of Bitcoin to simply accept payment for their works and they don’t invest in it. Everyone just knows what works best for them. At first I was using BTC as a means to accept payment from clients abroad, and as time goes on I started investing a little in it. So, everyone already knows that Bitcoin is one of the greatest works that has been done, and I really love the way that it has simplified peer-to-peer payment.

The unlocking thing isn't adaptable in unlocking the door as it should be quick enough because no one will wait and type their private key in order to unlock their car, instead they should accept payment in cryptocurrencies for their services like autoparts, servicing for vehicles or maybe purchasing of new vehicles and that would be awesome or maybe add a bitcoins wallet in their factory made cars so as to give publicity to cryptocurrencies. This will be innovative and also feasible, as if a person doesn't want to use that wallet then he can leave it as it is, but the same can't be said in case of unlocking the doors of car with private keys.

This is still pretty cool even if it was only a basic mention of bitcoin. Not to mention Land Rovers are awesome cars. Any publicity is good publicity saying would go well here.  My uncle actually runs the entire Ford Truck division, maybe I could talk him in to running some sort of bitcoin /Ford Truck ad.  Cant hurt to ask lol.

Being included by this company for this film of the summary they've made that happened for the last 50 years is already a great thing. I hope that this will also give the skeptics an idea that Land Rover is aware of bitcoin's existence and can even change their minds that it's going to be a big thing in our era.

Actually, for me, this is even a better plug for Bitcoin than you could hope for from a famous brand (referencing the time Bitcoin was born).

LR's been in blockchain for a while already I think, at least trialing some tech, can't remember what for exactly.

After reading the thread, I searched for the ad but I can't find the exact ad that has been. I landed to this video[1] of Cointelegraph news with the summary of it.

And while I'm searching, I've seen this video from CNBC TV posted a year ago that Jaguar Land Rover is testing Crypto rewards for drivers.

Australians say a Land Rover is what you need if you go into the outback. If you actually want to return from it then you need a Toyota Land Cruiser.

They are paragons of British build quality - ie horrifying.

Pretty cool ad but I seem to remember Land Rover 'partnering' with IOTA which is strangely appropriate.

There's just three reason I could think about every time I see a company who advertise bitcoin, the is the TRAP this one is the obvious one and we all know where it would be after a period of time, the second is the BACKRIDING, this one has to do with technology and they use bitcoin as a front to gain more attraction from bitcoin users, and the third is the real committed company who is working solely for the support and purpose of bitcoin. sadly most of the time they are just backriding with bitcoin 

It has nothing to do with the promotion video that the Land Rover posted, it was just a mere tech innovation timeline that includes bitcoin. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's not anything fake or malicious, on the contrary this is a very good advertisement for Bitcoin since the video will be seen by a lot of people who may have never heard of Bitcoin (in 5 days 115 500 views). They also say clearly in their advertisement "Bitcoin network is created", which makes it clear that it is not just about blockchain that many identify with Bitcoin.

If you read the comments below the video you will see many interesting questions - and some of them are when LR will accept BTC as a means of payment. Unfortunately, they do not know that such a payment is a reality on some sites which even offer worldwide shipping.

Every time I see Bitcoin advertisement from large companies/corporations I wonder first of all whether it's legit or a trap. I keep being skeptical about it every time.

The thing is, showing Bitcoin as a revolutionary invention doesn't necessarily bring upon the idea that Bitcoin itself is amazing. Might actually be a promotion for Blockchain tech, not BTC, as digital currencies are being developed right as we speak on the blockchain tech.

Or maybe it's just the skeptical me.

By the way,I'm not a big fan of Land Rover and British cars in general.I used to have a Rover Metro,this is shittiest British car I have ever seen.

The show appeared for 3 seconds in a car advertisement, and not in an official statement from the company, which is similar to Bitcoin in darknet in a popular series like la casa de papel.
Things are developing in a positive way, and we may see more warning ahead, but so far, it is just a promotional announcement and not a very important event.

Yeah, probably a good endorsement for bitcoin, nothing else. Sure they are more involved on the technology behind because of blockchain. But I don't think it will be enough to push the market for adoption. We have seen a lot of big companies in the US talking about blockchain technology, but not bitcoin itself. So we will see where this is heading, exposure is exposure though, the net effect should be felt in the years to come.

In my country at the end of the last year a TV channel was showcasing the biggest technological developments of the decade, and they included Bitcoin too. I'm sure there's a lot more examples of Bitcoin getting recognized.

But I personally wouldn't give such high status to Bitcoin just yet. Bitcoin can still be considered as an experiment, and as we are seeing adoption is growing as fast as we have hoped. Bitcoin is far from being a global power.

Even though I'm a Bitcoiner, Bitcoin doesn't influence my daily life in a way smartphones or the Internet do.

Whatever they are focused on this appearance of Bitcoin to the latest commercial of Land Rover is a big push for Bitcoin advertisement.  Imagine Bitcoin as one of the important historical event of the 50-year history coming from blockchain technology.  Isn't it a boost in awareness about Bitcoin and as stated by avikz, boosting/increasing the credibility of the Bitcoin brand.  That is not a small matter in my opinion.

They don't mean anything to it as they only shows a historic timeline where bitcoin is included, of course it will coz reaching a $20,000 in price as a " bubble" asset is seen as an impossible event. There's nothing much to expect here! No advantage of bitcoin is recognized by Land Rover. Rather they have just mentioned it as an important technological innovation that happened in last 50 years. While I don't expect anything to happen but it may just increase the credibility of bitcoin brand. Probably few people who are already intrigued about it, will actually go to Google and start searching about bitcoin to know more. Just some visibility it will provide. Nothing to cheer about!

I don't think they are so focused on Bitcoin itself but on development of technologies. One of results is Bitcoin itself so they pointed that out. What they actually wanted to stress out is that they as a industry follow development and new technologies and don't want to be left behind, that is how I see it. I think that blockchain has more importance for Land Rover than Bitcoin itself.

Land rover for most of us is a vehicle that can go where no other can. It's the one that leads every tracks and trails. And the importance they have given to bitcoin's creation is a tribute to the robust and sturdy system of decentralized payments. As safe and dependable as the land rover itself. A name that people can trust blindly.
