Just a hundred years has passed since the famed 1984 where a totalitarian state controls everything - even thought. In the midst of global financial turmoil and increased centralization, an idea is born and delivered to the world. Satoshi (Prometheus, if you will) gave fire to mankind. He gave them a way to transact beyond national boundaries and beyond the control of the centralized state. The most important tool for controlling the actions of men was now lifted away from the state and given back to the men (and women) that it was meant to control. For the first time in a very long time, people were now free to trade any way they liked.

Noble goals were stated and vested parties came together to form the beginning of something great - The Bitcoin Foundation. A non-profit with the express mission of standardizing, promoting and yes protecting Bitcoin. Industry (well, what little industry there was in a concept with a market cap of just over $100MM) came together with technology and formed a consortium to guide Bitcoin's future. Hurrah! We trust all of those involved and we laud them for their undying efforts. We know some of them and others we've simply heard good things about so we are comfortable and safe.

But in 2084 the world is a different place. Bitcoin, once the tool for freeing people from the arbitrary control of the autocrats, is now the tool to control people even more. The BCF has, over time, become more centralized and exerted more control over Bitcoin. History has shown any group that has power will inevitably seek more. Bitcoin gave power back to the decentralized mass and the BCF began to take that power over time.

The Constitution of the United States of America was an incredible leap forward in that it gave power to the people. But over time, the power found its way back into the hands of a few and left the people with nothing more than dreams. The power centralized itself into the Federal Reserve, the Corporatocracy and the have's.

I, for one, will support the BCF but will do so with the hopes that this time things will be different. This centralization of power will not be like all of the centralization of power schemes before it. I will trust in the spirit of Bitcoin and our mighty alien leader, Satoshi, who has gone back to his home world. I will use the BCF as the vehicle for me to get more involved in Bitcoin at large. I will focus on keeping a watch over the BCF and call them out when I disagree with them. I will support them when I agree with them. I will champion Bitcoin first, then BCF.

Good day.
