It looks interesting, but I'm kind of skeptical.  They seem wildly optimistic about their budget, it's difficult to find information on the people organizing it, and there's a large application fee.  That makes me concerned it might be a scam of some sort.  It seems like a cool idea, though.

At first, given its location  I personally thought it was gonna be something with white only residents or something racial.

And the only reason that came to thought was Hayden Idaho and the surrounding areas and there racial views. However when I lived in spokane and would frequently on a weekly basis cross in to Idaho you dont really see any of that. Infact quite the opposite.

But I did take a look at the site...

I picture a hippie commune at the hands of miltiamen and hardcore constitution enthusiasts/defenders. Very highly opiniated people all coming under 1 roof to live in a castle. And Im hoping that a major cable company will pick this up and hopefully add another show to my growing list of tv shows i enjoy.

Who needs a fortified redoubt when you can just take out a $2 billion loan to build a city-slash-theme-park called Independence, USA...

*sigh* god damn I hate that asshole...  Tongue

Heh, he's a douche, but occasionally he craps a gem. Not sure if this is one or not yet.

Edit: Yes, this looks like a good idea. Likewise, a little over-patriotic, but at least it's idea-oriented, instead of the frankly slightly creepy fortress of The Citadel.

[Aren't the porcs doing something like this up near Grafton? That I could really get into.

Yeah, I heard about the porcs first. I think the difference is these guys are of the apocalypse survival variety (slightly nutty in my opinion, especially with so much emphasis on needing to shoot guns and rifles to stay there). From what I know, the porcs are just more NAP/Libertarian as opposed to prepper. Would be interesting to see both communities get established and see how they compete.

Well, if these Citadel folks get established, I fully expect to see a news report about a militia group in Idaho being taken down. Way, way too paramilitary.

I thought it was a bit too "patriotic" as well, and weird that they are as concerned about recycling, especially when in a SHTF collapse situation that would be paramount to staying self-sufficient, but yeah, seems interesting. Totally expecting it to fail though.

They probably will have a sort center or soething, if they actually want to recycle. Or use positive incentives to get people to split it up. What they're really saying is that your home is your home, and nobody's going to be breathing down your neck about the grass.

A little too much "Amurika, fuck yah!" for me, but otherwise looks like a pretty decent place... especially this part:

There will be no HOA. There will be no recycling police and no local ordinance enforcers from City Hall.

I love it!  Id be into it if it had more space.  I want to be able to piss off of my front porch and not worry about my neighbors seeing me.
