These is a chance for the bitcoin price to reach $6k-$7k by early January but no one knows exactly what is going to happen by the end of it when the Bakkt is launched. The cryptocurrency market is unpredictable but I think after the Bakkt is launched a lots of things are going to change.

Only one from 18 voted for 5000-6000 and now it's real , but we have time yet))
Heh 5000 down and now only one prognoze that)))
The opinions of people have a tendency to fluctuate with the market, when we were in the middle of the bull market it was not the weird to see predictions that said that bitcoin will touch 50000 and now that the price is very low we are seeing predictions that say that bitcoin will touch a price of 2000, my opinion is that we are going to see a small recovery and the price will be slightly above 6000.

In my opinion, until the end of the year we will remain in a thight range between 6000 and 6600$.
But as soon as we break the orange resistance line showed below, we may go quite fast to the 10k$ resistance.

Good to see realistic predictions, no one has voted that it will go above 20k with the majority being between 10 and 15k. A small pump is likely rather than last years meteoric rise
Of course, judging from the way this market has been acting lately, someone in their right mind will not even be thinking of the possibilities of hitting the previous ATH as at 1st January, 2019. Market is always bound to at least, try as much as possible to develop and so far, before I would even be able to say there could be a possibility towards the previous ATH, I would like to see the behavior of the market at the $10k resistance and the ones above first. Times are changing and we are beginning to see a more matured market gradually and as we keep going further, it is something we will keep seeing.

People are overestimating the effect of BAKT. It sounds delusional when none of the guys here predicted that the price could be under 5k$.

I am thinking of around 8k USD, giving the fact that BAKKT is coming in, it will not make the price skyrocket that much for the mere reason of accumulation.  I think it the price won't get that much improvement (x2 or more). I also think that FOMO will not kick in during this time since investors are more knowledgeable now than before.  I hope to be proven wrong but that is what I am thinking about the price of Bitcoin on January of 2019.
You think the accumulation has not been going on already ? One thing with big investors is that without doubt, they are already doing what they have to do to at least get the best of the market in the long run. Bakkt coming in could come in different shape as the case may be, but one thing I have always known is that the market is still always going to get to grow anyway, with the way most financial institutions are really beginning to pop into the space and seeing how they can tap from it as much as they can.

I would not be expecting so much before the end of the year, there could be a possibility of slight movement upward in January, but how things will turn out, time will tell.

Imagine all those guys riding the 2017 boom, they probably thought they were a lot smarter simply for owning Bitcoin. They're probably the same ones now whining and wringing their hands. They'll do no different the next ATH.

Correct. Last year pretty much everything went up in value by at least 1000%, so there wasn't much that anyone could do wrong, not even those blindly picking a coin to park their savings in.

I was the loser here for advising people not to invest in this or that shitcoin. Every coin I told people not to invest in last year went up balls high. I was literally told that I don't know anything despite being here for so many years. I couldn't even counter that with how the prices kept going up even after I thought they would correct, lol. That's why I'm keeping my mouth shut when I'm being asked for input.

People should do whatever they think is necessary. They are expert as long as the price keeps going up and silently find their way out when things start to move in the opposite direction.

I also think that FOMO will not kick in during this time since investors are more knowledgeable now than before.  I hope to be proven wrong but that is what I am thinking about the price of Bitcoin on January of 2019.

investors who are already in the market and are trading are always more knowledgeable than before. and they never FOMO buy. the FOMO buys which make the price jump up mostly happen because of newbies. and newbies come in when the rises are already happening and the hype is at its max. that is also why we have the big drops/crashes with every rise that bitcoin has. but when rises are small the crashes are also small like the dozens of 20-30% crashes that bitcoin had in 2017.
That is the thing with the market getting more matured over time, the more people pop in, possibly made some mistakes at first, but learned their lessons, the more they keep getting smarter based on the knowledge from the experience they have had, and the more the market will keep growing until we reach the level of huge adoption. For now, I really would not be thinking so much for this year or towards January 1st 2019, what I am thinking right now is to accumulate as much as I can below $10k.

Call me a pessimist but as much as we'd like to believe that people learn their lessons after making their mistakes (not possibly, they make mistakes first time around, sort of a given. Otherwise they luck out and just happen to make calls at the right time), people don't. Take a look at the world of international finance. We haven't learnt from the various big lessons of the past century. The Great Depression of the early 1900s to the turn of the 2000s "great depression". The global economic crises every decade or so.

Stock market traders, crashing and burning out after riding the highs. No different from Bitcoin speculative markets. They're kidding themselves if they think they got smarter. Imagine all those guys riding the 2017 boom, they probably thought they were a lot smarter simply for owning Bitcoin. They're probably the same ones now whining and wringing their hands. They'll do no different the next ATH.

The last year, the cryptocurrency markets have undergone significant adjustments and many experts predictions of the fall of 2017 were beyond fiction. This year, experts are much more cautious and pessimistic in our forecasts. The price of Bitcoin is tied to stocks, the dollar and other various factors. But it seems to me that there is no more interesting and fair forecast than a survey of people who are part of this market. And where, if not on Bitcoinflc, can you find such a number of crypto enthusiasts and experts of the cryptocurrency market?
I voted for the range of 6001 to 7000, it seems to me we are going to see more of the same for a long time, so I do not expect any kind of surprise, maybe the price could move a little bit above that price but nothing that will surprise us and it will not last long and then the price will return to the current levels.

I voted for 10K USD.It would be pretty normal for the bitcoin price to increase by 50% somewhere around Chritsmass or the New year.We have witnessed this many times in the past few years. However,we are too far away from a new ATH of atleast a "recovery" of the last ATH.
The SEC decisions is postponed and the Bakkt project hasn't launched yet.

i believe we will see a rise before the year ends but i am not sure if we can see the big resistance at $10k be broken which is why i would say a price in range of $8k to $10k is the most possible scenario. specially with Bakkt news on the way.

The price of Bitcoin is tied to stocks, the dollar and other various factors.

not really. bitcoin has always moved on its own. it may sometimes move in opposite of Stocks market but that is not big enough or common enough to form a real connection.
I would not actually expect the $10k resistance to be broken this year as well, and I feel one way or the other, there is a possibility we may get to have some consolidation within this range into next year, before we start seeing some up rise further. One way or the other though, I guess time will surely give us the right answers eventually. This is why I believe that one way or the other, the altcoins will be the ones making the first big move this year, then bitcoin will take the big move towards early next year, I might be wrong, it is all speculations anyway, as no one knows the future.

The price of Bitcoin is tied to stocks, the dollar and other various factors.
How strongly are the "tied" together? Present the data showing, and proving that it's true before making statements based on nothing but assumptions.
The thing with a lot of people is that they really just love tying something to the other, based on how they just want to feel, but there is nothing tied here as far as I am concerned. Although, a lot of people believe that with the stock market taking deep correction, the institutions may start looking for another well dropped market to take advantage of, which in this case, the crypto market might be taking the win. However, it is still something we cannot just assume things to always be like that, considering that this is cryptocurrency market and it basically just moves on its own one way or the other.

I think the price will still be in the 6000-7000 region based on the fact that it's not moved out of that region for nearly 8 months, and there's little to suggest that will change in the coming months. I hope I am wrong and I am optimistic a bullish momentum will be coming some time in 2019 but I'm not sure exactly when.

@Lucius - Those predictions seem ridiculous, especially the $150,000 per coin one but you know what, as a bitcoin HODLER obviously I’d LOVE any of those 3 predictions you posted to come true. Even the $15,000 one would be amazing right now Smiley

I fully agree that some of these prediction are not realistic for the beginning of the next year, but I think the majority of them was actually based on possible BTC ETF, and others are just speculating that something big could happen, although they do not know what that would be.

We all know that only one crazy month can push price two to three times up from where is it now, but I doubt that it could happen this year. For me personally 10 000 $ for the beginning of the next year would be quite nice price.

$15000 is nothing really specially since this is a price that was reached and passed not so long ago. and even psychologically speaking it would be easily possible to reach it.
apart from that, $15k can be considered a small rise after this gigantic drop of nearly 70% which has brought bitcoin to an under priced place.

I meant - many experts tie the course of Bitcoin to various factors. Personally, I am not) Therefore, I can’t connect the data to confirm availability.

Maybe one good case is the recent crash of stock market that trickle to crypto, I think it started from EU then quickly affected the US and Asian stocks  and the domino effect reaches crypto as well. I'm looking for the article and will try to update this thread. And I've seen it discussed in this community as well  Grin

What else to expect after such big correction we have after last pump? That so-called experts are right with caution, they do not want to give some kind of wild speculations so that people can laugh at them after few months - especially if they do not have a basis for them.

But if you like to read some prediction for January 2019 by some experts here are some of them :

Quote
Alexander V. van Dijl, Financial expert:

At the beginning of this year I predicted a bitcoin value of 150.000. While that seems like a lot today, I believe some firm price movements will take place in the (very) near future. Something big will happen, perhaps a large retailer will accept bitcoin, perhaps adult advertising will accept bitcoin as payment. Something big will happen that will cause the price to skyrocket again. 150.000 is my prediction for January 1st.

Quote
Eric Brown, Founder and CEO of Aliant Payment Systems:

My Bitcoin price prediction for 1 January 2019 is $23,000.We were practically at this price once, and we know what it takes to get it back there. We are very much in the infancy of this type of currency, and as technology grows, so does the value of the currency. The future is technology and Bitcoin is the currency of that technology.

Quote
Danny Scott, CEO and Co-Founder at CoinCorner:

Based on our existing data combined with industry trends, we predict the price of Bitcoin will level around $15,000 by 1st January 2019. We take this view as the industry is growing at a healthy rate, with the retail market developing steadily and considerable new interest from high net worth individuals and institutions being recorded.

of course price of literary anything in the world is tied to other "factors" and takes effect from a lot more. the world is interconnected. but in case of bitcoin this connection between it and stocks does not exist and I have not seen any experts make that connection to be honest.
what I have heard has been a speculation or two that during some stock market drops bitcoin price should rise.

I think in January 2019 , we would be talking of $12,000 or $15,000 in bitcoin pricing.  If all things been equal and the summary of the people predictions happened then now is the right time to buy or invest in some of the cryptocurrencies that are currently very cheap.

I said 7000-8000. I think it'll hang around the bottom into early next year before the market finally decides to start a new bull market. I think it'll mostly be in the 6000s until then but could see it being in the 7000s for a few weeks after BAKKT in mid-december.

I agree with such prediction ans don't expect some biger price growth. 10000$ would be nice to see but as the market looks now this is only desire.
Maybe later in the year some more significant changes will occur but so far I don't have big expectations. The end of last year will not repeat and I think that the bigest optimists are now very well aware of this.
