Education in Nigeria has been so expensive with most people eager to have education in the higher institution and to be called graduates but not everyone has the chance to have this education. Most people still struggle to go but at last will be dropped out of school because of school fees issues by right education or a university owned by the government of a state or the once owned by the federal government are not supposed to be that expensive to the extent that a common man won't feel comfortable to go into it or won't even be able to have it.

Not talking of the private ones owned by an individual when the government are not helping matters concerning these fees how do you want a private owned university to be affordable by right the government universities are supposed to be well furnished than the private but things are going otherwise. Most universities these days no longer care about the knowledge all they want is high fees before you enter it's another problem of clearance fee and others. Every year school fees increases.

Let's take a look at the top 10 most expensive universities in Nigeria, you see the fees but you go for it you notice it's more than what you have seen.https://nigerianprices.com/most-expensive-federal-universities-in-nigeria/
The honest truth in this matter is that education in Nigeria is no longer valued, most people no longer find the urge of going to school anymore, because they claim going to school is “scam”.  I don’t blame those who feel this way, the Nigeria educational system is giving them more reason to believe that school is scam. Our leaders no longer invest into our educational system, they rather spend the money on materialistic things. It only in Nigeria where a Senator receives more pay than a professor, a professor who has the ability of impacting thousands of students. To me these are the people to be taken most care of but it the other way round in this region.
Even in our low reform state in our educational system, the youth are still very brilliant this why we exile better In other countries. The government need to do better in their  education sector,  because we have very bright and intelligent young people in the country who are just looking for who will groom them well. We pray to have good leadership who will take our interests to heart and see the future in the young generation.

These are some of the reasons why most of us are complaining about the misgivens of government, government have refused to go into productivity and help to grow the economy so that every sector will be working, rather the government have improvised means of wanting to over tax the already impoverished people, all in a bid to sustain those of them that are living in affluence that we call leaders.
Looking at the national minimum wage that is not even up to a living wage, and for a very long time it has not been increased, yet universities and other institutions of government are on a daily basis increasing their services, where do they expect parents to get the money to clear some of these bills when their salaries have not been increased for so many years now.

I don't know how far about the student loan that was promised by this administration even though personally I have my negative disliking about it because after the loan, how do you repay where there is no job?

Well about the high cost of education especially in the government owned universities, it will be a miracle if tuition fees are cheaper when other aspect of sector is crashing with inflation. So the educational system is part of the whole gamuts of the challenges of bad leadership and corruption bedevilling the Nigerian economy.

Honestly education is very expensive in our country and the worst thing is that after graduation, with all the amount of money that was spent in school one won't be able to get good job. Since the country is like this I don't think their is any need for to go an expensive school,  instead I'll prefer going to a school I can afford that is not expensive,  than spending so much money in a school that their is no guarantee of having a good job after graduation.
I agree with your point. The worst part is that, after graduating, a person won't be able to find a good job because of how much money they spent on their education. After all, education is highly expensive in our nation. Given the state of the nation, I don't see the need for attending an expensive university. Rather than incurring huge costs for a school where there is no assurance of a lucrative career upon graduation, I would much rather attend a less expensive university.

Personally I’m shocked at the way our society is taking these increments in federal university fees and in education at large, In a Country as ours where most educated people are either unemployed or working jobs not inclined to their field of study why are people still lamenting over fee increments, Education is not free in Nigeria and their are no plans or even future ones aimed at subsidizing the price of acquiring eduction why don’t we choose to cut our coats to our sizes if it’s too expensive go pick a skill master it and grow if you still have interest in the education now you can freely fund yourself.

I believe the youth and also parents should look and see Nigeria for what it is a country that’s labor intensive in the light of the current administration where everything has tripled in price what do we as a society see as a way forward education will not save us what have we done with all the education we’ve acquired so far rather than use our degrees to argue with ourselves at beer parlors and village meetings go pick a skill master it and begin earning so you can begin investing in Bitcoin rather than thinking about price of university fees.

The expensive disposition of our education system doesn't equate the quality level of what we do pay for. I mean there is more of theoretical teachings and less of practicals and field exposition of students to their discipline option.

You see a political science students over the duration of study has never been opportune to attend a plenary meeting either at the state or national level to have a direct experience on how plenary meetings are held and laws made in the national and state house of assembly. Rather all what they are been taught are strictly within the classroom in paper.

And same applies to many other disciplines which is why you will have many university graduates in the society doing beautifully theoretically than they do practically in their area of specialization. And this is something the universities governing body should look into and restructure the school curriculum to meet current dynamics and academical trend and not just only focus on making the educational system expensive for an average citizen not to find ease sailing through financially.

I'm not proud of our education sector in Nigeria, ranging from expensiveness of getting a formal education down to poor teaching habits, poor teaching environment and no availability of technological equipment during practicals and illustration. When I newly gained admission I was told not everyone will graduate due to not being financially able to meet up the cost of school expenses then it all begin to happen over the years, so many people dropping out as one thing is to begin another is to finish well,  sadly it all happened in a federal university where things are supposed to be less expensive.

Sometimes I don't blame government for there inability to do some things. If our religious representative can build school that There members can't even afford, what is the essence of putting the blame on government always? We behave too religious yet indirectly wicked and put the blame on government, where as if that same power given to politicians are given to some religious people they will be worst than the so-called evil politicians. It pains me alot that most religious representative can't make life easy for Common man. You guys might think am insane but people with higher reputation has in influence on people's life and how they think. Apart from politicians the influencial people are musicians and men of God. And there are many churches in Nigeria. If they can help the masses without government I think the country will be a better place. I don't want to go further or mention anybody's name but you all knows what am saying. If most of those money where use to invest in peoples life it will be a great blessing.

Everybody can not afford the necessary needs to attend education, the ways school fees are expensive many couldn't afford to go to school any longer because they don't have the money to continue their education. Some families sold their only properties so that one among their children can complete their educations but after the whole concept of studying there will not be a better job that can pay back the money which he has spent while schooling and this makes many of our citizens not to put much interest in school anymore.
They say "school na scam" but it's not scam, all this that they are saying are because after education there will be no place for you to work, when it comes to government jobs, some of us are blinded by these things but it is good to go to school, not because you are looking for a job, schooling can make students to be more socialized and smart when it come to books, only those that doesn't know why theu are going to school can jot be able to picture those things.

The expensive nature of our education and the unemployment associated to it after graduation is alarming. Many saying of education is a scam because our government has failed in all aspects they are after money exploiting it citizens, not educate to the citizens. The expenses runs in the university for four or five years can't established the person if invested and managed wisely. I still Wonder weather our leaders really know what they are doing to this nation as no sector is working, education is zero, because we have University of petroleum but common modular refinery will don't get left alone refinery.this saying is really true when a purpose of a thing is not know abuse is inevitable many of our university don't know their purpose abuse is the order of the day.money making is their concerns lacking productivity, no good work or product education wing.

Education is really expensive in our country, it is just that our economy is so bad that even the little additions  placed on our education are not affordable to us. I am sure that none of our conventional universities are up to a $500 tuition fee per session which covers virtually every other expenses that are attached to the school demands.

Our hostels both on campus off campus have not been that expensive as well when you compare it with other countries out there because you have countries where the hostel(accomodation) fees alone are worth much more than what you would pay here for a conventional university to study. By the time you check and balance everything, you will realize education is still pretty cheap here in Nigeria but what has made it look very humungos in terms of the expenses is because of the level of economic downtown that we are facing in the country today. It is quite of a disinterest and distasteful that we cannot match up with other countries in currency valuation and standard of living of an average Nigerian.
