When there was a development in computer software, which made all current capabilities available, there was a development in online crime. Viruses of various kinds appeared, which led to the emergence of a market for antiviruses and cybersecurity companies. We are witnessing a revolution in artificial intelligence applications, which will inevitably lead to the emergence of AntiAI, and currently there is Programs to identify fake images and AI-generated texts are available so it is only a matter of time before we see more sophisticated tools.
If we get to pay more attention to the fears of hacks and scams, we may really not achieve much because just as you said, it implies that evil exist wherever there's good and just like an anti virus developed to combat malicious bugs and spyware virus, am very certain that there will be developed programs and software to combat AI related online crimes.

We need to verify always what we are trying to access since if we are not so careful for picking up anything unknown or unsure to us then provably we might encounter those problems that we don't want to experience. So as earliest as we can we should be aware on anything risk that can possible show up by using this AI technology since there will be a lot of people will abuse this especially if they know that they can take advantage on this technology and take a lot of money in return if they can fool people to believe on those lies they are trying to spread. A tool will be created to combat it? Maybe there might be something like this might be develop or there is a tool that exist. But what's important is we are aware on any potential attacks and by that for sure we are still safe.

Good for you, but you can't deny the fact that AI is the new revolution, every technology that we have seen throughout mankind's history has it's cons and pros, even the most widely used internet. And most likely AI is not for everyone.

I'm not questioning the fact that AI has its application in human society, I'm just expressing my opinion about how inappropriate use and abuse can (and probably will) have extremely bad consequences for people. Even those who started the whole thing at one point expressed their concern regarding the mass abuses that have appeared in the online world thanks to the new technology.

If you consider the majority of sci-fi content that has to do with AI, in most cases this very technology has disastrous effects on the human race. Regardless of what anyone thinks, I am of the opinion that the chances that this technology will turn against us at some point is at least 80%, but it is obvious that people have some kind of self-destruction gene that encourages them to dig a hole in which sooner or later they will fall into.

I know others will say that we should go and look for the official page and check everything before downloading. But with the recent AI resurgence, including myself joining the picture and taking advantage of it for whatever purpose it may served to me, still there are dangers lurking in the dark specially for us crypto enthusiast and those trying to learn AI.

I would say that people should only use the once that is mostly recommended, if you ask Google which is the most safe AI tool to use, it can provide the result for best AI tool to use or you can ask people that uses AI tools the safe one to use. At least it will be safe to ask questions and make inquiries before using any AI too, rather than just downloading any kind of AI tool and start to use it. Again, why are people even using AI for everything they want to do? We have all the capabilities as humans to do anything we want to, we don't just need AI tool for everything. Since the invention of AI apps and tools, I can beat my chest an say I have not used any of those tools but yet I have been doing everything perfectly for myself. Laziness in some people, leads to using of AI

Not even recommended by Google, criminals can still used the big G, paying for their ads to be in the first page so it's not safe.

The trick here if you are in AI and crypto then separate everything. It's not that easy for some of us, but at least you are on the defense and feeling somewhat secured. I've been trying out some of the most well-known AI for myself alone and so far I wasn't be affected by this because I investigate and research the tools that I want to used and make sure that I downloaded from the correct source.

I'm sure majority of us are into AI, at least for me I have been trying to learn a lot of tools, like Mid Journey, Capcut, In-video,  Leonardo AI, Elevenlabs, Runway and others. So when I say this reports, I was taken aback as how cyber criminals is also leveraging AI tools now to steal our crypto credentiasl as most of them are info stealer.

Personally, I'm not fascinated by nor have I ever used any AI tool and I'm glad to be completely out of it. I understand that people have the need to use such tools in order to be more efficient and save time, but most technology has its negative sides and all those who support all these AI innovations must face the fact that sooner or later a lot of negative things will surface, which this technology produced.

The fact is that we are just at the verge of AI advancement and subsequently better AI models and types will flood the technological space as time goes on. Therefore as a tech person you should try as much as possible to get updated on malwares and hacks like these to help us level up our security consciousness from time to time.

Yes, if there are people on the bad sides, (scammers/cyber criminals) there are also people on the other side like those who really find this criminals and exposed them. So it's a battle between bad and good guys and hopefully we will not be another statistics or would be victims.

That is, based on the OP’s post, what needs to be done to prevent such an “attack” by the AI? Stop all kinds of communication on social networks, especially on your behalf. Not only is Facebook itself a garbage dump of advertising, which is regularly replenished with all sorts of scams, but if you add to this the participation of AI, you will have a completely nuclear composition for scammers.
Anyone who likes to trust social networks will sooner or later fall into the AI’s network since this tool is regularly improved, and there is no guarantee that we will soon be unable to distinguish it from the one it wants to pretend to be.
Therefore, skepticism and great distrust of everything that seems tempting on the Internet will be a good safety net.

.

Personally, I have nothing against someone using such tools for entertainment or educational purposes, such as some forum members using AI to create fun pictures and post them on the forum - but when we communicate with words, they should be a unique product of our mind, not artificial generated garbage.

I've tried some of these AIs but I am not going to download anything from them. I'm good using them with web-based websites like the chatgpt and any others. But if they're going to require me to download some of it, I won't be downloading any of them because that seems to be not the thing of mine. Or, if I use them and I want to download it, then I won't be downloading them with my main device or pc where in my wallets are found. So, I'll use a spare laptop or anything where I am going to use them. Otherwise, I'd stick into those web-based AI tools.

I will like to make a plus contribution too.

Once unpon a time, when we are looking into a new project, we will try to make sure that the project team are who they said they really are, once we detect that the pictures of the team are not looking so good we become suspicious of a foul play.

In today's world where AI is capable of almost everything, scammers are now using AI to generate almost perfect human pictures, the type that you will see and almost believe to be real.

I was very various of new projects in 2018 but today I am ten times more cautious because we now have AI everywhere, and they are free to use, its a plus for scammers to take advantage of, we need to be super careful.

as ai becomes increasingly sophisticated, it also makes it increasingly difficult for users, especially ordinary people, to avoid online crime. and because of this, it is important for us as internet users to understand the negative impacts of the presence of ai technology by always understanding internet security. if possible, install antivirus on the device and always verify the site we are going to.

and it is also important for big platforms like facebook or google to develop anti-ai, so that it can prevent ordinary users from accessing and falling into such traps.

If any of these AI-trending softwares were used to steal investors assets, either crypto or other assets, then I would be the last person to lose my asset to any AI tool. That's because I am not a fan of any of these AI-implemented softwares. So many people have said that AI is also helpful in so many other aspects of life and day-to-day activities, but I am someone who believes that anything that has an advantage also has its disadvantage. Although someAI might be useful and harmless in every ramification, it could be easy to get pirated and unnoticed by lovers of AI, and before they could even realize it, it may have caused harm to them.

I don't really like AI, and mostly in the crypto aspects, I wouldn't want to put AI to use in any of my crypto activities.

The most important aspect of this post is the fact that you have helped create a nice form of awareness against malwares of this nature. +1 for your information op. However it is important to note that AI is simply an advancement and plus to modern technological advancements and therefore it is neutral.  Every single AI created has its distinct motive for it's creation . It is this reason or motive of creation that actually determines the use of the AI. If an AI was created to assist in generating malwares to aid hackers during their hacking processes, the creators are to be blamed not the AI since it's role is to obey a certain command .

The fact is that we are just at the verge of AI advancement and subsequently better AI models and types will flood the technological space as time goes on. Yes, at least we are made aware of this kind of trend as this hackers are exploiting everything than they know they can victimized unsuspecting people. Who would have thought about it? And it somewhat late that the investigators have found it out as they could have already defrauded a lot of individuals by downloading it as they want to used this AI technology.

Therefore, we should exercise caution here, and download only from a known source.

The malicious use of Ai will continue to grow rapidly and majority see it as the future in how it makes things easier to be frank if used for good Its an amazing step for humanity but now I think it will do just more harm than good to humanity with some of it negative effects as:
  • deep fake
  • Identity theft
  • Generating malware or writing malware code
  • Degrading student critical thinking and others

My issue here is that some still think Ai is a more better and having less demerits as technological invention than blockchain which is actually fact except strict regulations are placed on the use of Ai things will get worst.

To be frank another annoying thing is that when it comes to malware and phisping scam Facebook hardly get criticism for this in order for Facebook and other social media platforms to be move to improve their security against malwares and phisping links but still they are a low key home for hackers and scammers.

In the end it's all depends on us to protect ourselves online from any malicious activity because the first form of vulnerability is depending on other sources to do this for us, God help us all.

It is not an exploitation of artificial intelligence, but this is the trend at the moment. They are exploiting any opportunity that enables them to make money or convince users to download random applications.  adhere to the simple rule that says to avoid downloading any application that you do not trust and to research carefully before downloading.

Just to add on what OP provided, the creation of AI and its application to the modern age can be both a boon and a bane.

With recent technological advancements being developed and created, it is obvious that its integration into our world is inevitable. Unfortunately, this tool is also used in order to perpetuate fraud and deceive the general public with its various applications, such as creating fake advertisements with seemingly real photos (computer-generated), a lengthy whitepaper (most likely AI-generated), and fake credentials that had been grabbed from legit and genuine projects.

The only way in order to combat against these scammers is for the public to be cautious and doubtful for every transaction or project they enter into. Like what I always mention, it is 100% better to prevent a disease rather than to cure it- better avoid projects and their red flags than to be lured into their seemingly good offers.

Vidar by @Lafu
Thats not really something new , and this all are used for years now as you can read the post i made about that Vidar Version is already 4 years old.
The only difference now and today is that it will be created faster with that or some AI tools

And one of the well-known AI tools right now, Mid-Journey,  had 1.2 million followers and reach of over 500,000 individuals in Europe before being taken down on March 8, this year.
At least there are some that care about it and getting rid of that Ai Tools that try to spread Malware with it.

The most or normal User dont really care about when you try to making them aware about Malware or other shady Links and stuff.
I would can maybe write a song about that as i am doing that and reporting that kind of stuff now over 6 Years.
But its good to post sometimes a reminder.

Personally, I'm not fascinated by nor have I ever used any AI tool and I'm glad to be completely out of it.

Unfortunately, the development of AI has made a great gift to scammers in my opinion. For an inexpensive subscription to an AI service, scammers simplified tasks and gave a new impetus to their schemes, such as voice forgery, video and others. You can't trust anyone or anything right now.

Not every Ai out there is friendly, as  most of them are spyware and are created solely for destructive purposes. It even goes beyond Ai, to simple apps, sometimes we can find some unknown apps in our devices. Apps that we didn't install ourselves. These spywares can also even include random things like non default keyboards, as you can type lots of passwords over these keyboards, and can give access to whoever is on the other side, spying. Staying away from downloading files from unprotected sites. Sites that supported mod apps, are usually  unsafe.

So when I say this reports, I was taken aback as how cyber criminals is also leveraging AI tools now to steal our crypto credentiasl as most of them are info stealer.

The way it works is that this threat actor will take over a Facebook account, hack it specially those who have a lot of followers and then turn it into face site similar to the original AI tools.

  • Cybercrooks have taken over Facebook profiles to run sponsored malvertising campaigns impersonating Midjourney, Sora AI, DALL-E 3, Evoto, ChatGPT 5 and many others
  • The malicious pages on Facebook are meticulously designed to trick users into downloading purportedly official desktop versions of popular AI software. The cybercriminals behind these campaigns regularly change and adapt the malicious payloads in an attempt to avoid further detection from security software
  • The links direct users to malicious webpages that download a variety of intrusive stealers to harvest sensitive information from compromised systems, including credentials, autocomplete data, credit card information, and even crypto wallet information.
  • The analyzed campaigns employ malicious ads that contain links to executable files that serve Rilide, Vidar, IceRAT, Nova Stealers. The entire batch of malicious software is often offered as malware-as-a-service by threat actors on specialized forums and channels.
  • The malvertising campaigns have tremendous reach through Meta’s sponsored ad system and have actively been targeting European users from Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, and elsewhere.
  • The ads use convincing descriptions alongside generated AI videos and photos to lure potential users into accessing malicious payloads
  • One particular Facebook page impersonating Midjourney with a whopping 1.2 million followers was active for nearly a year until it was shut down on March 8, 2024. Since then threat actors have continuously set up more fraudulent pages to deliver malicious ads to users.
  • The Midjourney malvertising ad campaign was directed towards male Facebook users aged 25 to 55 and had an ad reach of approximately 500,000 individuals from Europe (demographics and reach of the campaign were obtained by tracking Meta’s Ad Library catalog)

The malware included here and most of them have been reported already in this community,

Rilide Stealer by @The Cryptovator
Vidar by @Lafu
Nova Stealer
