Yeah, it's quite scary how unsubstantial Ether actually is. It's not even a currency. It doesn't even have a supply cap. It's a digital IOU. The whole concept just seems very convoluted, and more to appeal to investors than developers. Right now you're paying for an idea. Not a product.

Truth for today what Ethereum it's a idea, BitShares it's already a product.

I think today technologically Ethereum can learn/take many innovations from BitShares, BitShares can get only marketing support from Ethereum.

Let's see at the end of the year what we will get from Ethereum, if their idea goes good, I don't see any problems to make BitShares Ethereum DAC based on BitShares toolkit and Ethereum technology which will be supported by BitShares community.

Chill out folks Smiley
I am not invested in Eth either, but it would be an interesting experiment to watch for sure, and I most certainly wish the team the best and hope they succeed. The real power of Ethereum isn't supposed to be from Ether anyway, but applications that build on top of it. It might as well just be the first iteration of something better.

So maybe somebody can follow on with "Pretendium" or perhaps "Unrealium". Those both sound way better than "Crapium".

Too much hyperbole all round.

Yup, exactly.

In the case of Etherium, if someone wants to invest in it at least wait for it to be released and the miners start dumping it. Judging by the amount of money they took in, it would appear that crypto investors don't like to read fine print. The Etherium devs could fly to their island in the sun tomorrow without delivering anything and there isn't a damn thing anyone could do about it. The sad thing is, even if that happened I bet there would still be tons of people defending Vitalik. Gotta love sheep!

Cheesy They already got rich from their funding period.  All that's left to do is fake some infighting, dissolve the core group, lament about "what could have been", and disappear into the caribbean sunset.

So I talked to Ethereum.. they basically told me that they are not interested in a partnership..  and that they felt that this announcement of a partnership was shady.

Need proof?  Comes from Ethereum core coder:

Ethereum turns down BitShares.  Bitshares feels toyed and taken advantage of by Vitalik.
