People needs education because if they are well educated for sure they know what their politicians do over the years. And they have election so they should not take any money given to them by those corrupt politician so that this corruption will not became repetitive cycle on Nigeria they most elect a leader who have vision to make their country grow and not those corrupt one who dominate their country for so many years or decades.

Their is no government that doesn't take of advantage of power, it is a common act that sometimes the president of a country act like a dictator even in a democratic era.
You have a point but I believe some people don't understand all this president is a human, not an angel which will only focus on his assignment and the more people understand that the democracy we have this day is a scam the less they are not surprised with the habit of the government because decentralization is the true democracy.

I don't think their is any government that practices 100% democracy and no epitome of dictatorship in the system of government.
The constitution we are governed is a scam especially the country in the subject and if their constitution is not changed there's no way they enjoy democracy.
As I said, decentralization is the true democracy, the government understands this, and that they never want to support Bitcoin in the first place and they are doing it now because they don't have a choice since their monetary system is collapsing.

Democracy has been the political system of Nigeria, and any government coming into seat must adopt the pattern that has been used by his successors in order to maintain a smooth political tenure.Democracy is indeed the best for Nigeria because Nigerian politics is always full of problems and bribery, therefore,in order to continue a smooth political system that will be free of curruption and bribery, the government of the people,by the people, and for the people will be used.A situation whereby people will be given the privilege to choose whoever they like to rule them. It is the very best for Nigeria and they have been maintaining it.
@Lordhermes, I disagree with you that Nigeria is practicing a democratic system of government as you stated here. There are certain things that a county that is under a democratic government experience that is still lacking in Nigeria and that is why the country is facing a lot of hardship and suffering today, the word freedom of speech is found in democracy but when you rise to speak against the corrupt politicians here you will be arrested and imprisoned for speaking against them. In a democracy, people stand to elect who they prefer as a credible candidate to be their president but in Nigeria the reverse is always the case so I see them as a country which is still under military rule.

i think that some of the points above have become a problem in developing countries globally .. especially in Africa where usually the majority group leads a country ,, and i think that democracy there is only a "formality" ,, because seeing the many sectors controlled by the president and his supporting parties, it seems that it will be very difficult for a minority to be able to run as president there

Nigeria is democratic state with a presidential system of of government theoretically.while  in practice,it is unitary state with autocratic system of government.

I consider this as hate speech which is not patriotic to the image you represent for your nation that's if you're a Nigerian, why do we consider the common things as a big issue, in fact the painting we give it is even worse than the real situation, i will advise you leave politics for those in it and let them perform all they could as nothing is parmanent, read about the political history of other countries and you will appreciate your country in many ways.

What I didn't understand was how you inserted the word "democracy" when you were talking about Nigeria or any other country in Africa.
All the points I mentioned prove beyond any doubt that Nigeria is under the control of a minority, benefiting from the country mortgaging its wealth and energies to the colonial countries, especially France, which is considered very influential in the governing circles, in addition to its extended hand to armed groups capable of causing chaos in country by a simple order.

I guess its not the only corrupt country on the face of the planet.
I can guess that you are frm an arabic culture if not from an arabic etnicity. Smiley

The pointers that you have mentioned Clearly indicate that it is not a democracy at all, the most important point in democracy is that Judiciary is an entirely independent pillar from the government and government or any executive cannot veto what the judiciary has decided for once. Best they can do is to change the law for future instances if they want to but that too shouldn't alter the very essence of the constitution. So constitution should always be supreme and not easily alterable for major laws.

The term democracy itself is a mere fabrication that it is not realistic in real sense. No where in the world where democracy is being practiced including America. To some scholars e.g Aristotle doesn't believe in the existence of democracy as a system of government simply because it is not practicable based on what it preaches. It is just Nigeria and most of many other African countries tend to abuse power and have no regards to the constitution and democracy they practiced. Although democracy offers fair system of government despite its lapses after all.

There might be a form of Democracy that works right for the people. But it isn't being used in any major nation.

All that Democracy does is to elect a dictator, or a dictatorial group. The Dictatorial government goes out and does whatever it wants.

The US isn't a Democracy. Only the US Government is. The rest of the US is a Republic... freedom for the people.

Is it the same for any place in Nigeria? Or are all the people included in the Nigerian Democracy, and none of them in a Republic?

Cool

I guess its not the only corrupt country on the face of the planet. There are several countries that are corrupt out there and still they get to say very little of it. Speaking of South Sudan, Somalia, North Korea, Pakistan, Paraguay and many others. Somehow, these guys aren't very shouty about it and you wonder if they are not on the forum or aren't plagued by the menace of these corrupt practices in there nation states.

I understand at OP that, being constantly under the hit from the unjust acts and policies that emerges from the corrupt governance seems like a lot to you but in turn, what are you doing for a change. Its time again to select a new leader to head the highest office in the nation come 2023. I know its been so bad that Nigerians no longer believe in the electoral process as, its often rigged but I'll beacon on you to go get your permanent voters card (PVC), come out with the masses and vote in a peaceful election.

My friend you see many of the corrupt countries including the ones that you have mentioned still provide necessary amenities and needs for the citizens including fighting for them abroad and protecting their lives and properties at home but you and I know very well that the Nigerian government don't care about you. It is a kind of government where only families of the people in power benefit. Their families are those who get information about what is happening in government and they are the ones that can grab it. It is a kind of government that is not far reaching and so if you are not in you are totally out which is the reason everyone is trying to get into power and making the Nigerian political system one of the most expensive in the world.

Dont just vote and leave, wait till the results for your pooling unit is announced and if possible tap it and be justified that you've done your best before going about to being a good citizen of this great nation. The change is now and it starts with you!

These blood sucking demons in politics are very deadly, they find every means of rigging elections. Whoever is staying behind after casting of votes is still standing to risk their lives because they have thugs that can come to destabilise and shoot to say a few.

Nigeria is democratic state with a presidential system of of government theoretically.while  in practice,it is unitary state with autocratic system of government.
Nigeria, can't be called a democratic nation, while none of the pillers of of democracy are not followed.
1_some individuals are above the law, which alter it's supremacy.
2_The people mandate is not heard.
3_The president has too much veto power,he control both the the judiciary and legislature
4_There is not check and balance
5_ Two party system in practice,PDP and APC are one in practice and the remaining parties are one.north vs the rest of Nigeria
6_protection of the lives and properties of the masses is not longer a function of the government
6_curruption is legalized in practice
7_fusion of power, the president is vice president, inec chairman, chief justice of the federation, the ministers,Senate president, controlling the military etc.becaise he put them there.
8_The constitution is not supreme and flexible
9_devision of the country through ethnicity, tribalism, religious line
10_Detachment of the masses from political activities in the country.
Therefore, Nigeria practice democracy on paper not practically
