The important is that bitcoin is useful when donating money to charity localized in another countries, so people can save on exorbiting fees they would have to pay to banks due to international transactions dealing with fiat. Furthermore, it's easier for charity organizations to launch their campaigns and ask for donations in btcs, without going through the traditional bureaucratic method of creating a special bank account and also having to pay fees to maintain it and to complete the regulatory requirements.

The negative side is that the lack of formality bitcoin proportionates added to the easiness it is to adopt the digital currency, makes it simpler for scammers to create fake charity programs to steal money from donators, as it has been already seen innumerable times. However, if there is transparency and public accountability, it is not an issue at all...

About the environment, well, it's part of the evolutionary and technological developmental process to use the natural resources we have disponible to improve our techniques aiming to use less of those natural resources futurely and make them last longer.

The problem is not with Bitcoin, what most people seem to not be able to understand, but rather the problem is the fact that we still do not have a solution on efficiently creating clean energy. Even if Bitcoin and all Crypto mining disappeared from one day to another, we would still be creating filthy energy that harms our environment. So what we need is a clean energy solution. And when we have that, we will also have clean crypto mining.

But people are too greedy. They would prefer to keep burning coal and breathing toxic stuff while the polar caps slowly disappear and our natural protection against the suns cancerous radiation fades away.

I see hope in fusion energy. Soon we will have the technology.

Example of an advantage is that the Donator of Bitcoin is anonymous and therefor secured. He/she could be a target of kidnapping knowing he has Bitcoins worth of Millions. Tax is a necessarily collected, but somehow in some part of world where corruption is rampant, the tax is just a way to get your money and put it on their own pockets, corrupt officials are to be expected. Some I am thankful and felt remorse that the world isn't half bad as we think as their are kind hearted people who are willing to help others, We can say that this guys don't go after for fame, they do it secretly, a genuine act like this should be followed by others especially those people who are on top of the list for world Richest people.

Yea, FUDER always says that environmental damage for Bitcoin mining. So did miners stop mining Bitcoin? And how much damage happened to donate Bitcoin? These are unrealistic thoughts at all. Miners moving to renewable energy. A lot of other sectors are doing too much harm to the environment, Bitcoin mining is just a drop of water at sea. Positive is it become quite easy to donate to those charities that accept Bitcoin. If anyone wants to stay fully anonymous they can. Not much hassle to help others, sending money through Bitcoin made it easier worldwide.

Bitcoin transactions have no environmental impact, because blocks are going to be mined with or without them. There is no correlation between amount of transactions and amount of electricity being consumed by the Bitcoin network.

Bitcoin network consumes around 0.1% of global electricity, and electricity is responsible for just a fraction of greenhouse emissions. It's stupid to criticize Bitcoin and ignore all the top polluters like agriculture, metallurgy, transportation.

The anti Bitcoin crusaders have always focused on the energy and the environmental impact on the mining farms and it electricity consumption and checking data it shows there are other sectors such as mining and steel this sectors consume higher energy compared to Bitcoin.

Yes, and they refuse to change their minds despite being given data on how much of the mining usage is used using renewable energy; or that something being a waste or a non-waste of energy is mostly subjective in the first place. Us talking about it repeatedly is not going to change their minds, unfortunately.

Environmental impact of Bitcoin donation. It sounds very weird personally. Please don't try to bind Bitcoin with environment in any case. After failing to accuse it with Bitcoin mining, now try to accuse it with Bitcoin donations during catastrophe.

This topic again? Ugh.

Are these critics aware of the environmental damage of the banking system? Of gold mining? Of their cars? Of their 4k plasma Netflix TV? Yeah, Bitcoin is definitely the problem here. BTW, proof of work is an environmentally friendly mechanism as much as you can't digest it. It seeks the cheapest energy such as from renewable sources.

We've had this conversation thousands and thousands of times already on different platforms.

Yes, Bitcoin itself uses(or "wastes", as said by the critics) a good amount of electricity. But is it really a bad thing? A lot of things we use in life uses a crap ton of electricity, but people turn a blind eye just because they're privileged. People turn a blind eye on things like gaming consoles and Christmas lights but then Bitcoin is a waste of energy just because they're not using it, totally ignoring the people who are unfortunate enough to be born in poor countries.

As for positives, probably the push to renewables and the energy arbitrage from other countries with cheap electricity.

Bitcoin donations have been in existence since 2013 when the International none Governmental organization (INGO) name save the children launch its fundraising crusade to Carter for children's health and wellness across the globe, and ever since then, they have been several charity donations through Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
This donation through Bitcoin comes with its unique challenges such as lack of a record on how the funds are utilized and also the issue of taxation and its resultant environmental impacts. But the fact is that Crypto donation is here to stay and as a way to give back to society Bitcoin community in their various capacity has donated Bitcoin to support charity works across the world.
This thread is to discuss Bitcoin as a tool for a charity donation and what are it contributions to the environment both on the negative and positive side. What are it gains and shortcomings?
