Looks like the game has stalled, no buys for 4 days.
(Consider it a friendly bump Wink

yes, and I think according to the rules, the guy should be refunded and game should reset? isn't that correct?

3 weeks, is the time. People can still attempt to steal/release the Final Satoshi at discounted price.

I think 25 minute confirmation time is rather short, as we have 1 hour blocks nearly every day. You should make it one hour, it won't affect anything I think, as soon as 1st confirmation is made, you can make the site available to buy in again anyway.

Noted, the timeout is only used when a fee isn't included with the purchase.

Definitely weird. Seems like yours is the only one to have done that. My best guess is that your purchase timed out. The Final Satoshi is locked for two minutes after you click that buy button, so make sure you send payment in that time period. If you could PM me in detail exactly what you did when you purchased that'd be great. In the meantime, you've been fully refunded:

New update. Check it out!

The timer display has problems on firefox.

Hey,

We've tried running the site on Firefox and had no issues. Please make sure your browser's updated or try viewing in an alternative browser.

The timer looks like this on my machine, I suspect it's due to we have different system font size or something:

Making the iframe higher and wider would resolve the issue for me at least.

May I ask what the zoom settings on your browser are?

I'm at the default zoom on firefox, it works for me on chrome. On IE the height works, but width is still short.

Yeap, insturction are clear, no problem. I also just realized that steal and release is not profitable for a single person (I do several things at the same time during days).

Debatable. It's up to each player to find out!

Somethings in math does not make right... If someone tries to steal my satoshi and fails, I get only 40%. If 60% goes to house, that is quite a lot....

Maybe I have not looked this enough yet.. maybe I do the math on weekend...

I think 60% to house is quite fair, we have to earn money don't we? The 40% to the current holder is just more of a liability bonus. Although it's not neccessary for us to have done this we felt it would be quite nice for players to be able to earn extra BTC in addition to their predetermined 10%.

I think steal is worth if you afterwards release... but odds look quite small, like in many lottery systems...

Maybe I try to calculate some series systems, but while I am lazy, I could make some Monte Carlo simulations to estimate how much house gets...

This is all available on site in the "How to Play" section. Everything's clearly laid out and explained there.
House always earns 60% of unsuccessful steals, while the current owner owns 40%. In the case that a steal is successful house would earn nothing and the current owner would be the one to lose out.

Steal:

The only way the current owner of the Satoshi can lose his bet and profits is if another user plays the “steal” option and is successful. In order to attempt a steal you must fund a percentage of the current Satoshi price. The percentage you invest in a steal corresponds to the odds of you carrying it out successfully.

Example:

Pay 1.75% of the current Satoshi value for 1.32% odds of winning.

Pay 3.5% of the current Satoshi value for 2.64% odds of winning.

Pay 17.5% of the current Satoshi value for 13.2% odds of winning.

Pay 35% of the current Satoshi value for 26.4% odds of winning.

Pay 70% of the current Satoshi value for 52.8% odds of winning.

If you carry a steal out successfully you become the new owner of the Satoshi at its current price.

Why would someone want to release The Final Satoshi?

Because The Final Satoshi does not reset, the price will naturally only go up unless someone or a group of people interfere. While it is not profitable for one person to choose to release The Final Satoshi, it is profitable for a group of people that want an oppurtunity to buy in at a lower price to release The Final Satoshi. This is done by funding 15% of the Satoshi's current price. The current owner would receive 10% and the price of The Final Satoshi would be set to it's baseline of .1 BTC.
__
So say the Satoshi's price grows to 3 BTC and that's too expensive for you alone to buy it, but you want to buy in at a lower price. You can get a group of people to help raise 15% of this  (.45 BTC) thus resetting the price to the baseline of .1 and allowing room for entry for those who don't have large BTC wallets.

More can be found on the FAQ and How To Play pages on the site.

I think the house is only making money on steals, since he promise to compensate the last bagholder. Though what if no one uses the "steal" function?

I don't understand how can the last guy not hold the bag?

Your site says:
"You will earn the 2% that has been set aside or Perk 1 (whichever is greater) in addition to your stake and steal bonuses (if any)."

How can the last guy receive his stake back? it's already been used to pay the previous guy, are you going to pay the last guy out of pocket?  Grin

Yes, the last guy would be paid out of house profits since afterwords the game would be over. We are hoping that's not for a while though as it's just way too much fun watching something I've worked very hard on brought to life and enjoyed by others. However the beautiful thing about our backstory is there is always room for an even better sequel.  Roll Eyes  Wink

ok that's very nice of you. Another question, why would anyone use the "release" button? I don't understand the incentive

I have been thinking same, I see this in two ways, player should be able to release wins for free. On the other hand, current system is profitable for succesfull stealer to release?

Btw, what was the issue you had to fix?

I paid the fee, so at least it was not me who kept page stuck 25 minutes, I refreshed it in 1 or 2 minutes and it was fine, I just did not own the dice.

Edit: I dont remember did I used confirmed coins, and did not realize that....

We're in a weird type of beta mode. We fix issues only to sometimes have those fixes create more issues. It doesn't exactly mean it was your fault, that's just the way it is with coding. An inevitable road block. As far as I am concerned right now though we are a well oiled train for now, and all issues have been patched. I'm going to refund you now and post the TXID.

EDIT:

You've been refunded. Feel free to play again, and sorry for the error. It has been fixed as of now, and there are more great options and updates on the way.

You guys are really killing me...  Shocked. If you send me uncomfirmed coins chances are they will take longer than 25 minutes to hit 1st confirmation causing the site to assume you are trying to lock-out and cancelling your claim to the Final Satoshi. I've upped the time for it to wait for 1st confirmation, but please try to help on your side.

I've had to issue 3 refunds today, but it's all just helping shell out a much better and efficient product. Thanks for taking the journey with us!

How can I send you coins that are already confirmed?  You should assume that the new person owns the coin with 0 confirmations, but not pay the old owner until the confirms come in.  Then just roll back if the confirms fail.

Hey,

Say for instance you receive coins from satoshi dice or something but they are not yet confirmed but are available to spend. If you send those coins to an address they won't confirm until the satoshi dice payout confirms in your wallet. So there is an extended delay on confirmation relaying to the site. Instead of the usual 10 minutes for confirmation it can take anywhere to as much as 20! As for why I don't pay the old owner, it's because the system is fully automated. Also, let's consider scenarios like steals and releases. Without the 1st confirmation to make sure the payment is legit there is a lot of room for errors and mix-ups down the road.  It's overall a lot more easier for the other players, the site, and myself if the new person takes possession after confirmation.

I hope my explanation was clear, and if you have any more question feel free to inquire.

BTW, congratulations to the new owner High Overlord Sothhus.

Oh, sorry, did not realize that payment had not been confirmed.  (My coinbase wallet did not make that clear.)

What about the option to pay more than the next bid?  For example, current bid is at .214.  What if you allow someone to buy it for any price they want, as long as its over that?

That way, if I want to keep my name on the board longer, I can bid like .5 btc.  The previous owner gets a lot more profit, and I don't have to keep rebuying to keep my name up.

Great idea! I'm gonna start coding this right now... sort of like a max bid? So you would send X amount to cover the automatic buy back of The Final Satoshi until it reached price XX.  I'll try to have this option available ASAP.

Exactly.  Maybe there should be a maximum you can raise, though, like double.  So currently, you can choose to pay between .214-.428  That would keep it within reach of other players.  We don't want someone to bid 10 BTC and stop the game.

Congratulations to our first successful thief:

1752xWJWSMrgdVniW5sA59vKR7vrUUCJaq stole the Satoshi for 0.122 btc

EDIT:

Updating steal module so that thief takes over The Final Satoshi at the current price instead of at price he/she paid to steal it. Also increased 1 confirmation timeout to 25 minutes.

"This is a 10% profit (0.221 btc) for you."

In the intro on the first page, you might want to change the 10% profit number to actually reflect 10%. I like the game and idea Smiley Its a nice spin

The number in the brackets is exactly how much you would receive into your Wallet rounded to the 3rd decimal place. But yes, I see how that could be confusing and will update it. Thanks for the feedback!

Okay because everyone is not as honest as we would like. We have patched the game. This means:

IF YOU SEND A TRANSACTION WITH NO FEE, WE WILL ASSUME IT WAS WITH THE ILL INTENTION OF STALLING THE GAME. ALL TRANSACTIONS NOW HAVE A 15 MINUTE CONFIRMATION TIME OUT, SO IF 1 CONFIRMATION IS NOT MET WITHIN 15 MINUTES YOU LOSE CLAIMS TO THE FINAL SATOSHI AND MUST BE ISSUED A MANUAL REFUND WITH A FEE DEDUCTED.

I'm sorry for any legit people this may effect but now you know that you cannot simply send transactions without a fee. The site was in lock down for 24 hours because of this and it is unfair to other players as well as to us, who have to handle bad press and monetary loss from advertising.

Thank You!

Hey man, I totally agree, I have updated my client to include a higher default transaction fee

EDIT:

I felt it was important to mention; if you send a payment yet it does not confirm in 15 minutes you do still lose claims. However if we see it was not with ill-intentions and that you did indeed include a fee we won't deduct our own fee and will refund you what you paid. The fee deduction from our side is simply to prevent lock-outs.

When you send payment include the fee. NOT cool. I will start implementing consequences for repeat offenders.

I'm in for a bit of fun Smiley

Network's taking a while to confirm though

Can you exaggerate on this? Are you having issues with buying/stealing/releasing?

We're back up, for good this time!  Grin

Refund has been sent, problem has been fixed. No first launch is perfect  Embarrassed. But we're back up.

Nice work

I think some Star Wars style music should play when the viewer gets on the website Smiley

Cool suggestion! I thought about doing that paired with a little intro slideshow of the back story in the beginning (it would have been skippable for returning visitors). The only issue is that I feared it may have caused compatibility issues on different platforms/ speed issues. But yeah, I definitely agree that would have been cool.

If you or anyone has any suggestions to what you want to see/ what you like so far; please do leave feedback. It's always appreciated.

Hmmm, possible problem?

Purchased and sent payment (http://blockchain.info/tx/e84b90b13f253fcca057aaa2a83e4b1c9244e953df38ea52db55d256096f7840)
The website showed that purchasing was locked for a few minutes but now it's open to buy again and no change in owner.

Looking into it right now. Usually takes 1 confirmation. Will be back shortly with an update.

It is a good, though brief, story. A nice little idea, especially the stealing part Smiley

Now, lets see how many thiefs are out there  Cheesy

So the final satoshi costs 0.1 BTC?

lolwat xD

and,

apparently, it's another chain game.
I'm sorry but I don't think this'll work

It's not a chain game. There is an end. Read in.

EDIT: What do you mean by "work"? It's for fun. I had fun making it, people should have fun playing it.

Benefits of playing:

THERE ARE NO RESETS

You can steal:
If you don't have a lot of BTC and want to try your luck you can attempt to steal The Final Satoshi. The amount of BTC you use to fund your steal corresponds to the odds of you carrying out a successful steal.

If you're the owner and someone attempts to steal The Final Satoshi from you and fails, you earn 40% of the amount they used to fund it!

Price too high?

Then get some friends, pool together, and release The Final Satoshi from the current owner so you can buy in and profit.

Cellrius Taxfreid lived in an age of unprecedented change...

A game of morals, chance, and fate.
The Final Satoshi, do you have what it takes?

- BUY

- STEAL

- RELEASE
