Congratulations for your potential moved to start accepting bitcoin as a payment in your business, which many people wish to do in their businesses  but they later discourage not to accept Bitcoin in their businesses, because of their fiat customers advice in the area. I feel like introducing this system to my local business for people to buy and pay with Bitcoin but am scared about our government officials because they don't use eye to see Bitcoin users in the environment than to empty or block the person account unless you make it secret to Bitcoin users without showing any Bitcoin Logo that will make people to know you are accepting bitcoin in your shop. I believe, someday I will be bold to create a platform for all my Bitcoin users in my business to start alerting them that am accepting bitcoin payment in my electronics shop for only Bitcoin users to see how it will be secure and save for me and Bitcoin users in the environment before I will make it public to fiat users, because Bitcoin is not fully legalized in my country.

It is a matter of pride to see people being able to transact with bitcoin directly at several store outlets that accept bitcoin payments. it also refers to the regulation of the use of bitcoin as a legal tender. I hope shop owners can provide early education about what bitcoin is and how to use it.

and bitcoin payments I think I can use Lightning Bitcoin because it's faster, more efficient and the transaction fees are cheaper.
I am very happy with the existence of large restaurants and shops that have accepted payments with crypto, even in my country there are also several restaurants that are willing to accept payments with bitcoin, now in Bali has launched a special website that campaigns for the use of bitcoin in Bali. there are several companies that have accepted bitcoin transactions and there are also jewelry shops such as the Sanur jewelery studio and tabra international stores, while for restaurants that accept bitcoin payments are clear cafes and there are also several other restaurants that accept bitcoin payments, while for lodging places that accept bitcoin is an S8 hotel and also a Del MANGO villa, this will be an attraction in itself and of course it will be a source of pride for those of us who are very interested in bitcoin.

This is a welcome move by the shop. These are the things I like to hear. let other small business also take bitcoin for buying goods in their shops. I am still waiting the day I will use Bitcoin to buy garri in my locality. Even though Bitcoin is ban in my Country but the youth is massively using BTC so I am believing that very soon small shops will accept bitcoin.

Didn't Nigeria put some sort of ban on bitcoins and then users bank accounts were getting frozen because they interacted with crypto currencies or something? How is the owner going to convert his funds to fiat cash or is he planning to hold them forever or wait until the bank gets lifted (which in this case he will have problems explaining the source of his funds, but I doubt they will care for small sum of money)? Anyways, good to see more physical shops willing to accept bitcoin.

The ban is still on but millions of Nigerians are still doing their Bitcoin transactions smoothly with the help of exchange companies. In this case, I think the business owner will be receiving the payments via his wallet then through the help of p2p they can covert  it to his local fiat currency so that he can purchase more goods to stock the shop. The Nigerian government is not planning to lift the ban on Bitcoin soon because they believe that once Bitcoin is adopted in the country, the fiat currency will not be valued anymore and her citizens will be in control of their finance.

It's absolutely true that Nigerian government had ban crypto related transactions, however majority of crypto users/traders resorted to P2P transactions mostly using Binance, where a crypto can sold in exchange for a fiat, however the buyer of the coin MUSTN'T make a remark that the transaction is crypto related else such a transaction will be marked for questioning by the owner with that transactions worth millions of dollars is made anonymously without government bank awareness to avoid clamp down and freezing of accounts thus a shop can accept bitcoin for business.

Nigeria is getting really hot in bitcoin adoption as currency. The local devalued fiat currency must make it a necessity. Who knows if in some time bitcoin becomes the main local currency? Even though the government is against crypto, at some point they won't be able to stop bitcoin anymore, because adoption will become so popular, while impacting the economy positively that they won't want to forbid or restrict it.

Businessmen like the owner of this wine shop are doing their part in allowing and introducing bitcoin to their customers, although further training and preparation are needed, so employees can also accept bitcoin as payment. Otherwise, customers will have to predict when the owner is going to be on the spot to meet him in order to make their purchases through bitcoin.

a unique and interesting topic, with bitcoin being able to buy  grape is a good sign and it is a sign that bitcoin is increasingly popular among the public, and of course this will be good news for me and my friends who are holding bitcoin or can also be called investing in bitcoin, and all the members on the bitcointalk forum. and indeed now there are more and more stories of people who buy using bitcoin. such as someone who buys a motorbike and so on, some even pay for the cost of the hospital using bitcoin. so in my opinion in the future bitcoin will definitely be more advanced.

I think wine has high price enough but for small price, Lightning Network is useful.

Anyway, even without Lightning Network, Bitcoin accepted is a good one already. It will be a good start for other things, for bigger Bitcoin adoption in that location. Lightning Network adoption later and more.
Lightning Network is needed for small transactions that will use bitcoin payments.
I see from a lot of news nowadays the lightning network is being used more for small payments like buying a glass of wine or at vending machines. We see that in El-salvador currently payment is more dominant using bitcoin because it has been fully adopted.

I quickly rushed into the shop and asked the cashier if what is written is true and she told me that I can buy any wine with Bitcoin. But the she has to call her boss who was not around for us to carryout the transaction since she knows nothing about Bitcoin. I was not happy because her boss have not taught her how to receive payments in Bitcoin. I had to take these memorable pictures and promised to come back later to buy maybe a bottle of wine.
It feels so good to see businesses adopt bitcoin despite the government's stance. In this case, I do understand why the business owner may be hesitant to teach the staff just yet about it. Possibly, he or she just started accepting it. Secondly, lack of trust and security. Thirdly, for some personal reasons.

Although some countries have Bitcoin ATMs and countless businesses that accepts Bitcoin. But in my country such businesses are rare and I have never seen or heard of any Bitcoin ATM in my country. Maybe it might be because of the restrictions placed on Bitcoin by the Central Bank, but I am glad that businesses are taking advantage of the opportunities that Bitcoin offers. Gradually my area would have more Bitcoin friendly businesses.
There are actually two bitcoin ATMs in Nigeria. They are located in Lagos State. One is installed at Dazey Lounge and Bar in Lagos. While the other is installed at CI Cryptosolutions also in Lagos. I cannot confirm at the moment if they are still operational but I am aware that at some point it was operational.

^ I've heard that bitcoin is pretty hot in Nigeria though, so idk. Maybe only in terms of investing and not in payments.

Not only in Nigeria, but bitcoin is getting hotter throughout the world, as you stated, it is more commonly used as an investment strategy than a payment method.
Even in countries that have accepted bitcoin as legal, people tend to treat bitcoins as an investment rather than using them to pay their daily bills. It does not matter what they use bitcoins for, as long as they are not illegal to do so, it is a great thing that bitcoin is being used more and more and more.

This is a smart move in this dispensation; owing to the fact that bitcoin isn't a legal tender in your country Nigeria. Moreso, I consider this a brave move; as law enforcement agencies might decide to work against the interest of that bar.

However, I suggest that you instigate meetings for bitcoin lovers at the said bar to encourage the management, and thereby,  promoting the awareness of bitcoin in your area.

Kudos to you!

This is a wonderful thing. And hopefully in the future all shops will be able to accept bitcoin as legal tender. Like in el salvador. I have never seen so far in the area around where I work there is a shop that says accept bitcoin as a means of payment. but i hope to find it. but so far I know of a shop that accepts bitcoin for means of payment there. but he did not put up the words 'accept bitcoin' because he said that in his country bitcoin is not yet legal as a means of payment. but it is legal to buy and sell as an investment asset.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
In a shop that can accept bitcoin as payment, I think that's the most desired, but in my area I still haven't found anything about this because it's an illegal payment and only fiat applies here.

If this store has a lot of interest in bitcoin payments, of course other stores will also follow it, it just needs broad education how to expand bitcoin to the public about bitcoin payments more easily and simply, but I see your country has more developments about bitcoin adoption.

The store owner should have just left a QR code or an address for customers to make payments with. A simple instruction to the employees could been enough even if he is not around. But maybe it was just newly offered. So there will be those information in the coming days.
Thank you for your wonderful suggestion. I collected the owner’s phone number and contacted him. I also proposed a brief training section for the staff of this business. He was quite exciting about my suggestion, maybe in few days we might have the Bitcoin discussion.

If I were to guess, I'd say that they didn't have a Bitcoin-supported PoS system ready and the boss is just going to receive the BTC straight to an exchange wallet.
Still better than nothing though. Baby steps!
Yes that was exactly the situation. I don’t even think that the sales personnel at the wine shop even have a wallet and a Bitcoin-supported PoS system might be very strange to them. I think our baby steps would soon become giant strides.

Can I just give you some advice ..please.
Support that business with regular purchases and also encourage your friends to support it to, because if you do not do that... the owner will decide to remove that payment option.

Thank you for this great advice. I have plans to introduce more Bitcoin users to the business because that firms is like a proof of the using Bitcoin as a legal tender in my neighborhood.

I know of several online stores that sell wines/alcoholic beverages, and as far as I can see, some have physical branches, so the idea is not new, but it is probably unique considering the location. Still, it's a bit strange that the owner first posted the sign without explaining to the employees how to accept payment in Bitcoin, so @Die_empty was left without his first bottle of BTC wine (at least for now) Wink

@Die_empty, as far as I can see from the pictures, there are also other alcoholic drinks in that store, so I assume that they can also be bought for Bitcoin along with the already mentioned wine?
Dear Lucius, thank you for your response. It is now responsibility to ensure that I teach the staff of that organization about Bitcoin transactions. I would definitely get a bottle of wine from that shop and when that happens the pictures would be uploaded. I was so excited that I didn’t even observe that there are alcoholic drinks in the shop. Yes, everything in that shop can be bought with Bitcoin.

I am always amazed when seeing merchants and more countries that accept Bitcoin as one of the payment methods. because in my country, this will not happen because of the regulation nd rule, except that we are doing hidden transaction P2P without someone else knowing about this and not for publicity.
But here, I am also quite surprised why they don't explain to their employees about the transaction using Bitcoin. Maybe this system is new, but at least, they should prepare all things related to the payment using Bitcoin, including the cashier at least. So, this will really make easier transaction for the customers or buyers even there is no boss.

Recently I decided to take a work around my neighborhood since I am on holiday. I have just walked a few distance when I saw an inscription on a particular wine shop. It reads Bitcoin Accepted Here. It was like a dream come true because I have never seen a physical business accepting Bitcoin. I have come across some online, but never seen something like this wine shop in my whole life.
I could have bet that this business was owned by a young person, Your write up confirms it. Just as you were attracted to the shop because of the very bold "bitcoin accepted here" sign you saw, so other young persons who see it as well, will be drawn to want to try. An effect this could have for his business is that it has the potential of increasing his client base as I already highlighted its ability to attract young people especially. It can also drive adoption as other shops in the area noticing this business advantage this shop has over them which is accepting bitcoin, they may be forced to look into integrating it into their payment system as well.

One improvement that they can do though for the owner of the shop is to educate at least one of his staffs how to accept btc payment. Because it will be a bottleneck if someone wants to pay btc and his boss is not around. Even if the address is owned by the boss, he can surely see the incoming tx even if he is not physically present in the shop. The communication is fast these days because there are so many medium now how to communicate with one another.

It's good that Nigerian people has another place to spend their bitcoins despite having a ban by NCB. But this kind of adoptions make me think how impactful will it be! Bitcoin is not a great tool for payment to be honest.

But for countries which are technologically backward, this will be an wonderful thing. But for countries where digital payment are already widely accepted, people will never move to an alternative payment method like bitcoin because frankly, no one likes to pay extra fees while making a payment.

Let's hope people will make use of bitcoin in this store.

Bitcoin businesses are there where you least expect them, you just have to do what you mention, get to know the area where you live, although I don't think it's necessary to be on vacation

It seems to me from what I read that you are from a local board, we made a thread with that idea "neighborhood businesses that allow you to buy with bitcoin" maybe that will help to exchange ideas or get to know those small businesses that exist and we do not know that they are in our region or nearby cities.

Glad to see how adaptation continues at the present inspite of the negative impressions being created recently because of the bearish market (which often occurs, quite unding like FUDs ). In my country as well, there are small businesses accepting cryptos as mode of payment but unfortunately, some of them stopped because they are afraid of the idea that the continuous 'downfall' of the price would lead them to bankruptcy ( which is quite sketchy on my end, like why?). But my take on this is that, those owners who accepted and atopped might probably be new ones in this industry, who are still not resilient with tokens' volatility. Quite sad, still a long run for sure. Let us hope for the better.

We had a few businesses in my area that also decided to do that, but he got almost zero transactions and he also struggled with BitPay and then when I visited the shop again... he stopped accepting bitcoin as a payment option.

Also ask him to give a small discount to people that pay with bitcoins, because that will be the incentive for people to rather pay with Bitcoin than Fiat currencies.  Wink

From the tune of everything been said here, this seems to be Nigeria (if am not mistaking) and am happy that such businesses have started accepting Bitcoin despite the central bank restrictions. But however, business is always a step by step process, and one has to start from somewhere, because in as much as you couldn't find a Bitcoin ATM machine or POS been put in place by the owner for transactions. The wallet address is actually still an option to be use for transactions, and it works perfectly

This is probably the first business in your area to accept bitcoin, so it's not complete yet. You should come back to the store later to see if they have fully completed the steps to allow customers to pay with bitcoin.
It would be inconvenient and pointless if only the store owner knew about bitcoin and the sales staff knew nothing about it. He's not there often and if the shopper pays with bitcoin it's at a disadvantage and time consuming.
He should teach his employees about bitcoin or send them to take bitcoin basics classes. So they can replace him when he's not at the store.

Safe to assume that it's either indeed a new payment method, or that there's little to no demand hence the owner isn't spending much time into having a better experience for bitcoin payers by integrating a Bitcoin payment PoS.

It seems so, and for some other reason maybe the store just has a bitcoin payment plan and a logo as a promotion that the store can accept bitcoin payments for the next few days until everything is done and teach the cashier how to operate it.
this is a good step and making bitcoin a means of payment has steps that must be well understood for workers, especially at the cashier.

This is another step toward full adoption. This may look like a small step but every step counts. Every shop or store that starts accepting Bitcoin contributes to the overall success of Bitcoin adoption not just as an asset or store of value but as a real currency.
