Indeed... I've sold 9 of my RX cards on e-bay in two days.

I am reducing my RX inventory to increase nVidia inventory in my mining systems.

Although, I do plan to keep some of my AMD cards as a hedge in case something new pops up that they are killer on.

Same, been selling my 480 8gb nitro+ for $500/each, 1070's run cooler, faster, and are cheaper (while not being as inflated).

Reference cards with blower style cooling design are significantly louder when running at 70-85% fan speed which is necessary if dual mining in summer. I don't have a decibel meter but if I have a reference rig and a sapphire rig in the basement I won't hear the sapphire rig at all but will hear constant white noise on the main floor from the reference rig.

Thanks for the info. Damn that make me think twice about buying the cards. I am not planning to dual mine though, so I guess the fans won't have to spin around 75-80% of their max speed.

Polaris will still be kind for etash algos, especially newer forks. 280/380s are running very close to their hash rates back when eth first launched on Ubiq or Musicoin, and I last checked they are only 10-15% less profitable than eth. I think polaris will see the same fate.

Nvidia will be better for ETC/ETH in the future, but you should have made ROI provided you didn't overpay for your cards.

I would not do such thing, even if he would be my friend. Doing so will only give his friend 120 bucks more. But he will not gain anything rather than "thanks for the tip" message.

They are good for lots of coins Eth, zcash, monero and all of their clones plus some others just look at whattomine.com

Profit will be taking a nose dive in all coins in july because of the ice age in ETH until they can fork.

Blower reference cards are usually well build cards that last, the r9 290 blowers are like tanks (some people had been running for 24/7 for 3 years). They do run hotter but are great cards regardless.

The only thing I'm worried about is that the cards he's selling are reference cards which means they have a blower style cooling system and from what i've heard, it's not as good as an aftermarket cooler when it comes to actually cooling the card. Hope I can still mine with them 24/7.

I own 20 of the blower reference cards -- they cool fine just spin faster / are noisier.

Hi guys,

A friend of mine just accepted to sell 2 Rx 480s for $220 each. Now we all now that the ETH profitability is slowly but surely going to decrease, so before I get these cards I would like to know what is Polaris (rx 470/480/570/580) good for ?

I mean what other currencies can you mine efficiently with Polaris going forward ? Zcash ? Monero ? Ripple ? Eth classic ?
