I had heard about police people searching into the houses and apartments of people and taking their shotguns and handguns, sending them to their police station without actual permission or something like a real reason, for the owner of the guns to recover those weapons then it becomes almost like a legal battle against the police station of some sort. I never got it.
I thought for the police tl have access to anyone's home they first needed a warrant, without it I assumed one as a citizen could reject them access to the home. But I guess zinwss wrong about it? I do not live in the United States so I am not 100 percent sure on how things work there, most of the things I know are because of news and anecdotes from friends.
Also, regardless of what the personal bad experience anyone here has had with police agents, it is unfair to compare the United States with countries like North Korea, in my opinion, in NK you can get easily imprisoned and executed because of saying something very bad out loud about the supreme leader of the country, in the USA you all are free to bad mouth the president in live television. Those are very different countries to live in. Though, I agree one is not supposed to allow one's right to be striped away slowly.

Civil forfeiture is crazy:
Quote
Since 2000, states and the federal government have forfeited at least $68.8 billion—that we know of.

Police is far more corrupt than any cartel. It's funny that in the U.S. right wingers will usually call themselves freedom loving but on the other hand will tell you that they love police.
I mean come on! Think about it, isn't police as we know it today the single most oppressive wing of our governments? There's usually very little separation of powers with the central and local government, and they're always using their forces to coordinate against the will of the people. Breaking protests, targeting people they don't like disproportionately, seizing cash and drugs that in the end ends up being unaccounted. Many police forces were even caught having internal gangs that were competing with each other on who will beat the most people or who will steal the most cash.

Police reform should be a universally supported common sense cause regardless of left and right wing politics in my opinion. They have sweeping powers and close to zero accountability. These things need to change if we want to call our countries democracies here in the west.

The US government is becoming more like China or North Korea every day.

This stuff still happens, but it's actually a lot better than it used to be. Most of the time it's the federal government using harsh narcotics laws to justify this stuff. Thanks to activist orgs like BLM, ACLU, etc. citizens have fought back against predatory prosecutions and seizures. The system is still not perfect, but it's better than it was.

And if I recall, local police are the biggest offenders of these kinds of violations, not the feds.

I really don't think so, that the government is stealing from you, that is just the act of corrupt officers on duty, you know that most of  this cops believe that since they are with a gun, they can do whatever they want believing that you can't do anything, ok let take a look at the police brutality that has been in display all throughout the united state, are you trying to tell me that it's the government that told them to be that way? No, I believe that due to their possession of firearms, they just feels like doing things recklessly, though there are few good ones among them, but the actions of the bad ones have overshadowed their good deeds.

So what am trying to say is that the only way a government of a state normally use to loot their citizens is through high taxations, but stealing properties of the citizens is being done by corrupt officers on duty.

This lady had to get a court order for the FBI to return the property they stole from her.

You see stories like this all the time. The big banks and big government are literally stealing your money on a daily basis.

This is not an isolated incident. I had something similar happen to me about ten years ago where US police used a ridiculous pretext to search my apartment.
The only reason why I let them because I had nothing of much value stored in my apartment at the time and I felt threatened by their demeanor and they didn't exactly asked my permission.
These cops were little more than thugs. There is no doubt in my mind if they found anything of enough value like cash they would have stolen it.
When they didn't find anything they left and I never heard from them again.

They can use civil forfeiture laws or use the Patriot Act to take anything they want from you without any warrant or due process or even explanation.
I believe the US has turned into something unrecognizable since 9/11, which they have used as an excuse to subvert our civil rights.
What other country makes you take your damn shoes off to go through airport security? Land of the free my ass.

Just goes to show how little respect they have for your civil  rights and their way to condition the population to gradually accept these "little" daily insults to your liberty.
The US government is becoming more like China or North Korea every day.
