I hope that in this modern era, the available options for the government of any nation, to creating an enabling environment for business to thrive, are the proper formulation and implementation of fiscal and monetary policies.
Fiscal policy is concerned with taxations and revenues driven by a drafted budgetary framework. So how far has the Nigerian government done with this international standard that is always adopted to creating jobs all over for the teeming unemployed youths and adults.
Monetary policy handles the issues of the total volume of money supply in a nation to cushion inflation of varying degrees.
Nevertheless, im in full doubt as to whether the Nigerian government has been able to deal with these neoliberal permutations.
On the basis of this doubt, the hardship would linger on for decades irrespective of leadership changes that takes place during elections.

If to say the goverment care the most important thing wey dey for do for common man is to regulate the price of food for the common man.  But because say the government no get us at mind na why dem no even care to try to make any effort to make things better. The price of food items still increases on a daily basis and it is even getting worse that people can no longer even afford it.

The government dey but the one wey we individuals dey add join the problem self dey. I wonder why people will just try to inflate price anyhow. Some traders has seen this as an avenue to extort their fellow Nigerians. How much do they sell a satch of water in your area? Mine is #50. Something that if they sell for 2 for #50, thy will still make a profit of #150 on a bag. But they keep selling it one for #50 to make double profit. Is it government here also? The country can be better if we as individuals change our mindset.

It's no longer news that inflation have practically taken over every sector of the economy, and the government are actually clueless of what actions that should be taken for things to come back to normal, we are complaining of how our naira has lost value in the international market, our current president is removing subsidy from our crude product without even making provisions for we to have our own refinery, which have made everything to skyrocket to the highest,  I have ever experienced in my existence in this life, till the government start doing the right thing by building our own refineries and focusing more on domestic production to bust our economy, so that our naira will appreciate, things will keeps on get uglier by the day.

It is not about bribing those who came out to protest cause I believe by now majority won't fall for that. The only thing is that Nigerians are avoiding every form of massacre, remembering all that has happened like the End Sars protest which ended up with sheds of blood, no body wants to experience such again that is one reason people are yet avoiding such actions.

The thing wey they pain me pass for this country na the way things they cost every day, by, day and he no consyn the government because them they enjoy. and the problem wey dey worry this country be sey them Sabi complain, them no fit protest. even though them protest the government go Just bribe them with 10k or 20k to stop protest

So. main looking at Nigeria situation na we be the problem of this country, we suppose unite, attack the government and their property, if thing wey they happen for the country they really pain the citizens the protest suppose hot

The high costs of living in Nigeria is really alarming. Sometimes I wounder how long this will last because everyone is fed up. Goods skyrocket everyday even garri for common man as it usually use to be cheaper has become more expensive than before. Accommodation has also become more expensive by the day to afford to pay for rent has become a big problem to the extent that most people has gone back to the village an start farming business. When you talk about educational sector, school fee is very high. Emagine the school fee of a primary school student now, is my school fee when I was in higher Institution. Transportation is another problem because most people whom work and receive little salary end up spending it on transportation and they might just end there salary in transportation fee. The economy is really bad I am always greatfull how I find myself in this BTT, if not what would I have done? All thanks to God .

That's why it is important for a government to think before deciding on the policies to take in other to better the life of the people, if the government were sincere on subsidy removal they would have rolled out some programmes or ways to caution the effect of the subsidy removal, mate, inflation has dealt with Nigeria and again no price control of any kind, any person can wake up and decide the price he or she wants to sell respective of what consumers think.

The new and the old government has shown incompetence in different areas of governance just imagine when a governor can not be hold accountable for anything just because he is a member of the ruling party, every commodity in Nigeria is messed up because we have people that are are in power because of selfish reasons.

Sometimes when I begin to imagine the bad condition of Nigeria I will just laugh we are now in a situation where by if you want to buy anything you need to budget extra Money with you because what you buy 200 naira in the morning might increase to 250 naira in the evening, when you ask why the seller will tell you dollar has increased, is not really there fault the government has failed us they don't have the interest of the citizens at heart.
If the price of Petro was low transportation wouldn't have been high these has also affected this price of things in the country. Honestly speaking the really need to something about this situation before things we get out of hand.

There is nothing difficult there to understand. There are two ways that goods and services are being purchased. Most goods are imported  and services are from foreign countries but there branches or sub divisions based in our country nigeria. This is why they are being expensive. I have a freind who is into import and export, he was lamenting yesterday about the cost of clearing consignment on the border. Irs actually high and this is because of the dollar rate. So i dont blame them if things gets high.

While goods and services that are from our country directly are less expensive because its been produced here.

With the price of petroleum products it is obvious that things will be very cost imagin buying 1 liter #690.do u know how much liter that will take you to another state with the bad road and other factor may even affect ur car. Everything in Nigeria are transported.Carrots and onions are from Northern part far North,how much will the farmers get ,by the time it reach wholesale,retailers and consumers will suffer it more that y the cost of living is hard and Expensive not everyone can afford it so

What is affecting the price of things is not just the rate of dollar,  the price of petrol is also affecting commodities in the market.  Food processed by machines,  petrol are needed for this to take place. Petrol is needed to transport goods from one place another,  even if the naira gains value thing might still be expensive because of the price of petrol in the market.  The increment of petrol has really make thing to be very expensive in the market.

What I don't really understand and I need clarity on it is how dollar rate affects the prices of goods and services, I mean goods that the materials are sourced locally. In this country everybody takes advantage of every slim opportunity that come there way.

Recently, south Africa frowned and stopped to use the services of multi choice company like DSTV and gotv. If Nigerians should adopt this action. I think they will think and consider.

Yes oo, we dey for very hard times and the cost of living dey very high, but the truth na be say even the government sef don know say anything wey dem do, our own na just to grumble and to murmur we no dey fit do anything other than that one, las las we go adapt to the system, now see the price of petrol before e be like say dem been dey plan to bring am down small but now e don increase again because we nor dey talk. Nothing naija people would rather stay starving than to vent their anger on any unfriendly policy by the government now that ethnicism and tribalism was used to elect the president some section of the country that control the press would not release any negative news about the sufferness naija people are being subjected to due to the high cost of living, everybody kept quite as if not is happening honestly there is hunger in the country a lot of people find it hard to eat three square meals daily parents are withdrawing their children from private school to government schools because they can't afford to pay high fees and so many bad things going on as as a result of removal of subsidy.

   The current situation of our economy is a major in the retarded lifestyle of the people, it's affecting all from top to bottom but the difference is in just its level of effect. The country's resources are just kept unutilized and mismanaged thereby causing  poor revenue and in turn depreciates the economy. Resources meant for the growth of the country is now owned by individuals which is not suppose to be so.
   It's very much difficult to afford a comfortable meal as a person talk more of a home with children, where they'd have to pay numerous bills and yet still there's no improvement in their income neither is there improvement in their means of survival. Standard of living no come easy again for person to live, the matter just day go bad day by day the only way out of this matter na when we ourselves choose those way go lead us, person way go take our interest to heart and not for him own pocket. We too get the idea say once we reach that office na to chop our own share. Once we start to day reason differently, the country fit day go in the right direction. The backwardness continues and one is left with no other choice than to manage life in a nation that's very much filled with resources for her citizens to live in affluence.

The high cost of living in the country is so alarming that  if nothing is done to salvage the economy it might  collapse,most Nigeria citizens find it difficult to eat twice meal,and the government is not worried about the situation .
The people in authority are deliberately ignoring the situation  because they see it as a means of enriching themselves, because if things are done the right way they will not be that rich, for instance, when it's time for their salaries or allowances to be increased no time waste they quickly pass the bill and start receiving the increment,  but for civil servants, they procrastinate and even pretend they are not aware like the current Labour union and government issue,good road, e.t.c.
The Nigeria government does not want The people to grow most especially the youth because they see us as threat to them,the only way out is been skilful I.e hardwork, creative, self employed and earn your own money .

like I normally say, we are the architect of our predicament in this country like we brought these problems to our selves reason being that our mentality is very backwards.

Just imagine if there is an increase in price of any product in the country you will see that every body will also want to add price to their goods and services too, for instance if the price of cement is increased, you will see bricklayers, meson men and even people that also aid in building will increase their charge as well i now begin to wonder that do they also increase the quantity of cement as per maybe as they increase the quantity now it will now increase the service of the labourers as well.

A farmer that also goes to farm, brings his farm produce to the public for sale will also want to equate his price with people who are buying and reselling in other to make profits. So until we change our mindset and stop blaming the government for everything that is going wrong in this country, then the better for everyone of us.

The matter with this country be say na all of us be the problem because everyone in Nigeria has let that foul spirit cover them that has to do with corruption. The leader of this country are a major cause yes but the citizens of the country too are a big contributor to this act. Well like you said only God can help us and we all pray that a saviour comes to rid the plague that is in this country.

The country’s economy is rapidly going on a down slide with high cost of living and low income. The government is not helping in the tackling this crisis, we still have a lot of unemployed youth out there who are still looking for their way. And many graduates coming out of school to face the labour market. The government is not helping matters in tackling this problem. A lot of hardworking youth and workers who are looking for opportunities  to shine in their field are not given the chance to show their skill and talent. The masses are desperate thereby turning into other available means of survival. The high cost of living is currently pressing the neck of everyone in the country. Due to the removal of the subsidy the price of fuel went up, affecting both the price of goods and services as well. Both the lower and middle class families will find their selves struggling to meet up with standard of living.
 The government will need to handle this situation with precautions cause the people are desperate and hungry. A hungry man is an angry man. People can vent to joining illicit activities just to meet up with the standard of living. An increase in salary will help the civil workers, provision of job opportunities for the masses, and thanks to the internet and it’s benefits. A lot of Nigerian youth are not making very good use of the internet to better their lives. The government can do better in easing the burden.

Everything starts from voting the right persons into office and also we destroying whatever cartel is in Abuja controlling all the president that get into office to change dem from the initial plans dey had for the country to what suits the cartel over there because how will everybody be doing the wrong things, e means say something dey happen for that top wey we no dey understand. Goodluck Jonathan had go plans for the country but e no work, even Buhari been start very well but everything collapse. Our problem is coming from bad governance because if we get it right from the voting poll we no go get problem again for this country as we dey bless but no know how to use am because our government no wan give us breakthrough, dem want make we dey surfer so we go be their puppet for electoral malpractice to give them power again.


Those Real estate people self dey take risk building all those costly building, the average Nigeria no fit afford their house and na the small favored people wey get luck get better paying jobs fit afford the house and again yahoo (illegal people). If we get a good government dem go invest in human development and creating jon opportunity for people to hustle and not only stomach infrastructure wey no go pass 24hrs and e dun finish. In Nigeria whenever something goes up it doesn't come down again, I'm surprised why tthe government are not able to control the prices of commodities, at least there should be some sorts of agencies established to enforce price control were as they make sure everybody sells at the required price and if found anybody selling above what his suppose to be selling will be persecuted and charged to pay a certain about for violation of rules, with that the prices of commodities will be moderate were as everybody sells at the same price but perhaps the government doesn't really care the survival of the people if not they would have done something about it because the rate at which things are costly in this country will seriously affect the less privileges were as they cannot afford to buy somethings for themselves, is actually a real situation and government have to do something about.

It is true that the cost of living in our dearly beloved nation is on the high side and our government is doing nothing about it to cushion the effect of it on her citizens and this has so far caused untold hardship on Nigerians who can not afford two square meal a day. This situation got my attention, Nigerians are currently facing hard times because of the inability of our government to hold the bull by the horns, the high cost of living is attributed to the government lapses in planning, and the government of the day has made it almost impossible for our naira to have value for whatever goods we want to purchase, and this portrays a high level of danger, Nigeria is a great country that is blessed with natural resources, I think out government to rethink and get the right things done for the sustenance of it citizen, prices of what the citizen need keep on rising every day to the extent that, if you buy something today by tomorrow the price will go up, when will all this stop, I think there is no price control in Nigeria because of the insincerity, what we here every day is excuses, no action of hope, I know that government can not feed everyone or provide employment for all, but they can create an enabling environment to lure foreign and domestic investors in different sectors that had been abandoned or that's facing under/ mismanagement, government anti-peoples policies should be reviewed in other to caution this condition being faced by people in this country, I think Nigerians has being push to the wall, some many homes barely feeds twice a day not because the can't hustle but because the hustling is no where to be found, even the mason work people manage with, is not anywhere because the price of building materials is on the high side, currently you can only see real estate firms building but not even the level it was before, the government needs to start from somewhere because the masses are suffering much and this might cause more insecurity is not handled very well.
