A Proud Father of Twin Girls 👧 👧
The only way insecurity can be reduced in Nigeria is by job creation. When people are employed they automatically have a sense of belonging and will avoid risking their lives when they already have something to fall back to. When job is created, people gets employed and it becomes easier for people to get a family. A man who has a family will protect his life with all-cause on the ground that he has dependants so the first step to combating insecurity is by creating employment for the youths. When people are busy working they don't think of crime.
Job or no jobs people who wants to involve themselves into bad things will continue and will never stop unless they are caught. IMO, the best way insecurity can be reduced in the country is a self centered solution which is; being contented or satisfied. Greed, pleasure, peer influence and hunger are the reasons for all the bad happenings in the country. The rich wants to get richer so they could maintain power while the poor will do anything for the rich to get money. If everyone has a paying job snd stay contented with that there will be no reasons for the insecurities. Imagine a state where the rich is okay with what he is getting and the poor is contented and gradually pushing hard to grow higher the country would be a safe place and there will be peace. But its so obvious that this cannot be possible. Humans wants and needs are insatiable.
On the other hand, aside from individuals, the thread was focusing more on the role the government has to play as to help combat this insecurity issues surrounding the country and to me, providing the basic necessities of life for its citizens is key especially in an increasingly inflationary country like ours.
Long story short, make government try make easy, make we citizens no go Dey pray to God for the things wey government suppose don provide for us on a normal bases and I think in the side of we the citizens, we suppose Dey contented with what we have as contentment na one major key to prestige.

This one na nice article kwa ooo but the thing be say no be today all these nonsense start e don dey here before we come to exist so we no fit stop am but rather we go fit make am reduce or decrease the rate at which all these things dey take happen.
Even in this era e get some people wey them dey force to go school and some wey u fit promise to sponsor them but they no go gree and na this set of people dey cause problem for the society. The so called police kwa go see criminals dey pass for road sometimes dey no go stop them and even if dey stop them dey go just collect  money or go dey come dey greet them with so so respect.
Again no be say government no know waiting dey happen dem dey  fully aware but somehow somehow their hands dey for all this insecurity, kidnapping, killing etc sometimes self na them dey arrange those boys na waiting make e come be like say government no dey do anything.
My advice for my fellow country people be say make ona dey careful make ona no fall victim.

it's no doubt that insecurity has become the border of the day in our country and during most of our elections, it is almost a constant campaign promise we've almost gotten used to that politician will sweet talk us to believing that they can help of solve our security situation and after all the promises, there is always nothing to right home about. A situation that most of the security agency have become too compromised that most of them are even collaborating with criminals to enable them carry out there evil act

I think one way to reduce the rate of insecurity in out society is to get our military doing their jobs. If our arm forces are doing the jobs they are supposed to be doing, most of these guys that are coursing serious havoc in the society will run for there dear life.
Security risks are now more evident in the country. Everywhere is unsafe and unlike before, security cannot be guaranteed. The country no doubt pumps in as much funds as they can for the nations security yet still breaches and insecurity keeps occurring.  What is the solution for a common man to live with other than fear. The entire country is currently under the stress of fear. People can no longer travel on a road trip with their family because of the rate of kidnapping happening on  the highways. This insecurity also brings trust issues among ourselves, that we can’t even trust our fellow citizens, we are always on guard and always looking over our shoulders which is not suppose to be so.
The corruption has affected all areas and has put us in a situation of our security being in our own hands even if it isn't supposed to be that way on normal grounds. Money is pushed for ammunition and weapons acquisition but we still lag behind in our techniques and equipments available to combat crime. It's appealing and we can only combat it if there's genuine and transparency and proper security policies and guidelines be implemented .

Nigeria which is regarded as the giant of Africa, has gradually lost it's values and honours as insecurity has been thriving and creeping into the country.
I read the newspapers and online news captions daily and there isn't a day without a case of insecurity making headlines from kidnapping to bombing to rapes and even cultism and I feel these are major threats to a country's development.
~Do you think the government is doing enough to combact insecurity in the country?
~what will you suggest as the way forward to combating insecurity in the country?

OP the security of every citizen in this country lies in their hands because we've lost confidence in the security agencies as the life of people and property are no longer guaranteed so for me I think the best thing to do is for our government to legalize the use of riffles by every individual in the country to protect their selves then they can regulate the nature at which it should be used.

Every day with different sad news in all corners of the country we now begin to question the ability of our armed forces to secure lives and property, due to incessant security challenges a lot of investors that would have brought development to the country has ran away for their dear life as no one will be happy to run business in an unsafe environment.
If you look this matter clearly insecurity done reduce, compare to the way attacks been they happen and it is now looking as if na politics na him security matter be, kidnapping come chock one certain time like that, the thing come be like say them get people weg their hand they this things but as suffering done to much if you even kidnapp anybody now who go pay and were them wan. Get money pay for the person, the one wey I notice now na people wey they steal for area they collect people things so if person they comot for night person have to becareful before them go collect your money and phone.

To me the major reason for increasing insecurity na Religion. We Nigerians we dey always do our things excessively. Imagine say because of person pass where somebody dey pray the person receive slap because na person wey dey practice another religion. If we backdate most cases of crisis you go see traces to religious supremacy. Afterwards then e go gradually metamorphos to governmental, tribal, and others.

You're partially right, sometimes all this killing, shooting stories comes as a result of religion and believe. I don't support matters like this, we should learn to respect everyones religion and believe, you set an example say person receive slap just because he pass where person dey pray, the thing sounds bad but the person for respect himself first, if I may ask why you pass the place when the person go vex. Religion fight don kill people for this Nigeria mostly the North area that area dey very wild. Insecurity for Nigeria na problem and government needs to look into this matter. But in the case of rape should we blame the government, blaming the government doesn't sound necessary.

The level of insecurity in the country is so high that the government's efforts to combat it are underappreciated. Nigeria is a large country, and bringing its people together in peace and unity is not an easy task. We have numerous languages, cultures, and beliefs that do and react differently to things. I believe this is one of the reasons the Nigerian government is finding it difficult to deal with insecurity, but they are doing their best and I applaud their efforts. I hope they are successful in addressing insecurity in the country soon.

I totally agree with all you said such as language difference, culture beliefs etc actually such aspects have there own impact to the security instability but there is one major problem that superseded all these you have highlighted which is "politics" most of our security challenges here are politicized as for me I don't see much on language difference and culture because in time past the language and culture were in place when our security was active and cub all manner of hinious crime in all the tribe why I emphasize on politics to occupied any governing position here in Nigeria you must be strongly involved in crime even some who are not qualify to leader the society today are leader because they have seen that our politics permit such with proper sanction or purnishment I want to emphatically state that if politics is cut off even with police alone can reduce crime to the nearest minimum because if top official cease to call for any one who is cut in any crime and allow them to face the consequences it put fear on those seek such root .

Oh yes the government are really doing good with the fight against insecurity and insurgency in the country. So far I have come across updates on the federal government providing more sophisticated armour and military devices to combat and curb insecurity. I will commend them for that as it is a good move by the security agencies to pushing the battle to the insurgents but however, if I may ask, when the poor have no food to eat do you expect them to stay idle, the unemployed youths roaming around the streets looking for jobs or is it the the one with a good business plan but no money to help support the business? You see all these things are the little things which are of good effects in the society but they are not really given that opportunity to work with. So tell me how do the government want to stop the insecurity in the country when all these minor challenges are not properly looked into. I was passing by a particular event going on in my state and I saw people running towards a particular place to form a cue these are youths, elders and children  and I inquired to know what was happening and to my greatest surprise, they were running to form a cue for payment, just to receive peanut and I was baffled. This is how terrible the situations of Nigerians are so tell me how does the government want to stop insecurity in this kind of situation?

Sure they are doing their best but I think the issue of diverse ethnicity is not the major cause of insecurity neither is it language nor belief but the government should step up their game in human capacity development.

Do I think the government is doing its best to combat the insecurity in the country?
Yes I think they are doing their best. However I feel with that the security apparatus of the country is already overwhelmed. First there is already a low level of confidence by the public on the security agencies. Second the security apparatus of the nation is greatly under armed. Third we have to do deal with those sympathizers or those who have hijacked the insecurity the country is facing for business gains.

The solution to this is that everyone should be his own security. Arm yourself and your family. Take proper security measures and be security conscious at all times.

~Do you think the government is doing enough to combact insecurity in the country?

People fail to understand that security is not only the government business. Security concerns each and every single individual in a country. Security is everyone's business. If you fail to take note of possible security threat and fail to report to the nearest security agency close to you then you are bound to face security risks. We should not wait for the security forces or government to do investigation before they swing into actions we should do well to report so as to be on the safe side. Atleast doing this would help mitigate potential risk involved and also, Keep security agency on the watch and alert at any time to swift actions.

~what will you suggest as the way forward to combating insecurity in the country?
There is a saying that says " an idle mind is the devil's workshop" I remember a one time minister of the federation saying that "human capacity development is the answer to curb insecurity and restiveness in the society". Going by that,  one would say that employment and empowerment could aid in curbing security issues in the society. This is so because when the people are gainfully employed  in legal activities which fetches them reasonable amount of money through salaries, income etc, they would not be bothered causing problems in the society.
My conclusion is that the government should look into human capacity development which will help individuals in the society and keeping them busy with a means of getting income, their energy and intellect would be meaningfully used for good productivity

The issue of insecurity no dey my mouth again, because no be only our country  dey suffer from insecurity problem, most countries also have thesame issue. But the way we do our own is very bad because it seems some of our leaders support those group of people that distort the peace of the country.
We no trust each other again because of the things we don see, where you go see somebody you call your brother have the mind to plan evil against you and kill you if care is not taking.Boko Haram dey worry from their own angle, unknown gun-men  dey also disturb us from their own end too.Na only God go protect us for the country.

Our country has been severely affected by corruption, which is why any government that comes to power always finds it difficult to address the issue of insecurity. This is because many heartless people are frequently sponsored by those in power to intimidate their other opponents just to continue get their selfishness, and there is also a lack of government effort to meet the basic needs of is citizens, such as lack of creating job opportunities  in the nation and simplifying the educational process for citizens. Most of the people involved in the book-haram controversy today are uneducated and have been brainwashed by their religious authorities. In my opinion, our country's security issues can only be solved by the military power which I think it will hard for military to get chance to rule again.

The security challenges for we country na serious issue ooo. No one is save again. Kidnapping, arm roberry, assassinations are on the rise. Even persons that are saddled with the responsibilities of security are being kidnapped or killed. Last 2 weeks an army lieutenant was kidnaped during the festive period at her home town in Imo state, yesterday an army lieutenant colonel was kidnaped enroute to Zamfara. This morning it's Edo train attack. No one and no part of the country is save. Our government has failed us. I don't see any miracle happening anytime soon but we can bring the activities of these evil agents to minimal by carrying out a major reform in the security sector, making sure the security operatives are well armed and equipped, better payment package for personels, periodical trainings etc.

Combating the problem of insecurity is not something we wil leave for the government to take responsibility alone. We ourselves have to contribute to our safety at the security of our country,.
The government through the police, the armed forces and other security  agencies have a responsibility of securing the state and the federation.
The security agencies can not be everywhere at once so it's now left for us the citizens to be watchful and report any suspicious movement to the appropriate security agencies and give them accurate information so they can carry their work effectively.
