Sounds like a horrible feature that would eventually lead to most of the board being ignored.

A feature that would ignore most of the forum is very much needed Smiley

Yeah, apply it to posts, not posters.  A post with an invalid input (quote) becomes invalid, and is not broadcast.

Ignoring (blacklisting) posters is much more fun and powerful when done manually.

Auto-ignore could lead to entrepreneurial opportunities, like tumblr services for blacklisted (tainted) posters.  You could limit users to 21 million ignores, ignored posts could be restored if 51% of the forum members hit "unignore".   The possibilities are endless.  There could even  be alt-ignores, like scramblepost, anagrampost, and block-out-letters-until-the-post-is-obscene-post.

I'm not saying auto-ignore is practical or ethical, just desirable.

I'd write a pull request, but I"m too dumb.

How
It started with fonzie, then anyone who quoted fonzie, and spread from there.

Then I had to ignore the guy who FUDed Tesla, and anyone who quoted him.

Then I had to ignore the "academic" hero of Central and South America, and all his quoters.  That guy gets quoted a lot.

Now I have 95% of the posters to my watch threads on "ignore".  It takes much less time to read the forum now.

This forum needs an ignorechain algorithm.  Any post that quotes someone on your ignore list should be auto-ignored.

Sounds like a horrible feature that would eventually lead to most of the board being ignored.

I think he meant any single post, not any poster quoting an ignored post.
