I guarantee Bram already knows and plans to use bitcoin. If he wants to disrupt tv he'll have no problem disrupting banks.
Bram already bashed Bitcoin (on his twitter account) many times by saying that it's a completely fail.

Someone from BitInstant/BitPay/Bitcoinmagazine should meet him on this year

Seems to be a case of someone who can't see the forest for the libertarians  Smiley

Someone should tell him there are plenty of socialists who absolutely love Bitcoin as well.

Someone should create reddit AMA "I'm a socialist and I absolutely love bitcoin".

I don't care too much about politics generally, but the thing that bothers me with socialism is that it is also nationalistic - the socialists in Finland try to get better welfare and support for finnish poor, while ignoring the rest of the world. Bitcoin could be something like "global socialism" - access to global trade for everyone in the world, equal opportunities to trade for everyone, "free bank account" for everyone.

And I don't care what socialism actually means by definition or anything like that, just thinking how bitcoin would be good for so called socialism.

My point was that Bitcoin is somewhat above politics (like the monarchy, lol). It's like saying "science is libertarian"... it just makes no sense. Bitcoin is a tool, and a paradigm shift, but in and of itself it doesn't represent any one facet of the political spectrum. As it happens, it's been co-opted by the libertarian crowd, probably because they were the first to come across it and saw its potential. But it just as easily can be a socialist tool, inasmuch as it draws power away from the corporate structure, for example.

I think it would be a good thing if the "face" of Bitcoin (aka The Bitcoin Foundation and the main players, like Bit Instant and BitPay) were to dial down the specifically libertarian rhetoric. It would at least allow for others in the body politic to see Bitcoin for what it is, rather than for just one aspect of what it might be.

The waiting for it has been long, but BTLive (Bittorrent Live) keeps being very promising as a disruptive technology.
Bram Cohen, the genius behind it, once said: "My goal here is to kill off television," he joked.
What if BTLive gave a special place to bitcoins?
Like having each broacast have a default bitcoin address associated with it and/or bitcoin payment schemes.
This could be huge to propell bitcoin!!! Imagine the impact this would have, without underestimating the importance media.
It is really not to be underestimated...

I've always wanted to see a bittorrent client that paid seeders and gave priority to leachers who sent payments to the seeders.
