The Pharmacist has been asking our boss (theymos) to change his name to The Sceptical Chymist and today I discovered that the username has finally been changed. My brother from another country The Sceptical Chymist congratulations. I believed the additional merit allocation request also also granted. theymos thank you very much for granting him the request.
Congratulations to The Sceptical Chemist on the change of his username, I've also come across this recently with the thread from Coolcryptovator when he also requested for a change of name even though his own was changed base on the request that his username was abused by many and thereby change the alphabets from capital letters to small letters, as for me I'd liked both the former (The Pharmacist) and the new one (The Sceptical Chymist) because they both have a unique blend of beauty in pronunciation and meaning.
Nigerian Board is also on the request Queue...we also appeal to him for the creation of the board
I think it's all about time and chance with patience, i want to believe that Theymos has plans regarding this since he has approved some local threads to be pinned, I think its the first step to granting the local board requested and i believe that not only Nigeria is involved in this.

This has been already answered in the previous posts of the thread.No nobody can register with the username "The Pharmacist". Theymos has only changed the display name. The username hasn't been changed at all and it's still owned by "The Sceptical Chymist".

I am afraid to ask at this point. I think I have PMed theymos twice about it and called him out in public a few times to answer the questions. But I have something else in the works right now that should be interesting to read. I am hoping to wrap it up soon, and when theymos sees it, he might rethink my request on his own. Stay tuned... ?

Personally, I like the twist in your name "Sceptical" instead of Skeptical and "Chymist" instead of Chemist.
It's not a twist I came up with, but some very old spelling from a very old book by Robert Boyle. The name change request stems from very personal reasons which I won't get into here (or elsewhere). And I've gotten quite a few PMs saying the new moniker looks strange after all this time. I have to tell you all, I'm still getting used to it--but every time I see it these little bubbles of glee start being emitted from somewhere within me.

As much as I liked and were used to seeing the previous username "The Pharmacist" in posts, after such a long time period you finally manage to change your username to the one you requested. Thus, congratulations on your achievement, I don't think many users have managed to switch their username. Honestly, I am confused about who that forum user or that person is because of the name that I recently saw or knew until I have known that it is The Pharmacist. Changing the forum name is possible but as you have known that you must have boss theymos' approval then theymos will change the name. As I have know before that there are other people who wanted to change their name but it didn't get approved that's why the approval of changing the forum name depends on theymos himself. That is not possible because only the name is changed and not the username. When you register or create an account and what you have filled up will be your username and forum name so, when you try to create an account using The Pharmacist then that's what will happen because the username "The Pharmacist" is already used. Just few days ago I was talking about The Skeptical Chemist on bitcointalk as a keyword and using it as example to make a point of how keywords works for search engines. I thought TP was asking for a Chemist not Chymist LOL. But I see it was a cleaver idea from former TP 😉

The Sceptical Chymist deserves congratulations. I never expected the request to change his username to take so long, given his reputation and the amount of effort he has put into the forum. I like his new name because of his personality in the forum; he always does things skeptically here, so even his new name. I have the impression that the administration takes care of the name change requests rather slowly, I had assumed The Sceptical Chymist had already changed their mind on their name change request, after the time It took to get an answer.
I believe it would be productive to set a minimum-maximum waiting time to get an official reply from moderators on name change requests and ban appeals, not matter whether the request is accepted of denied.
Just my opinion.

Thank you, and thanks to everyone who's PMed me with congratulations. I have to admit it's weird seeing a different username on my profile, but I'll get used to it and am grateful to Theymos for granting me my wish.
I will really miss the name "The Pharmacist" which has now changed to "TSC". This new name is long, but I think I prefer to use his last name instead of his full name and I hope you don't mind that. Chymist, I have congratulated you via PM but it seems I would love to celebrate here too.I also recently noticed that one of our board local users had successfully changed their username. Theymos is probably being kind and granting some user requests, of course because the reason for changes may be perfectly acceptable.

I hope you get one, and take heed of what I wrote above; he says (and I'm paraphrasing here) that he tends to forget about requests if he isn't reminded of them, so be persistent....and obviously patient, too. We'd take this as a lesson, I know we've been patient enough, but maybe what we need now is to keep sending reminders since it's been almost a year since our leader made a formal request to Theymos, and the last person to respond to our request was Cyrus when we asked for the thread to be pinned.

Great after a long time finally the change has been made and was surprised to see the thread in Meta board otherwise it would have taken me more time time to realise that change has finally be implemented and our known @Pharmacist is now the one with username @The Sceptical Cymist so once again congratulations to you man and you deserve it.

I remember it was the same thing with when TheBeardedBaby got his name change , sometimes its hard then to recognize them with their new names.
Now i have to remember this change and guess it will takes some time to get it .
I remember it was the same thing with when TheBeardedBaby got his name change , sometimes its hard then to recognize them with their new names.

Sometimes its is good to give time a chance. Congratulations Sceptical Chymist this really Christmas present just like @NeuroticFish responded. The additional merit allocation will also be granted seen how contributive Sceptical Chymist has been to the growth of the forum.
As for the Nigerian Board we believe theymos is seriously making plans to seeing he allocate a board to Nigerians. Every good thing takes time. It been long since Sceptical Chymist made the appeal and here his first request is been granted awaiting the second. So we too we wait till it gets to our turn I strongly believe thymos has Nigerians at heart.

LOL! Thanks for bringing this up, I would be missing the news for some more time, maybe even days.
What a nice present! Funny enough, I even told him that he may get the name change granted as Christmas present.

My brother from another country The Sceptical Chymist congratulations. I believed the additional merit allocation request also also granted. theymos thank you very much for granting him the request.

Congratulations to The Sceptical Chymist! it took a long time for his wish to be granted. This is a lesson for everyone, specifically me, that we shouldn't lose hope about our requests, goals, or aspirations. That's why we need virtues called patience and persistence. As I earlier stated in this thread, Public request to Theymos for a name change, he deserves this name because it suits his personality. A big thank you to Theymos and others that have supported the course of this change of name. I also hope that all our desires would one day come to reality.
