Godfatherism in Nigerian politics has eaten deep into the nation’s political space and economy.it shows in clear terms that you can’t occupy a juicy political position in Nigeria based on your credibility and merit but based on favoritism as you must be ready to kneel before, worship& bow down to your godfather. However, as concerned citizens we must begin to eradicate this menace that has eaten deep into the Nation’s political structure.

Godfatherism isn't the problem at all, there's godfatherism  in almost all works of life  starting from apprenticeship, mentorship, even in business partnership, there's a contact you can be going for and you'll need the recommendation of a more superior person, or a known face to be successful.  As simple as a military gym I visited today, they bounced me and requested that a military man (not civilian worker) introduces me to the gym. That recommendation that I got from a military friend today is another form of godfatherism .

The problem is therefore the selfish interests of the godfathers on the political sector. They don't want to lose control of the political positions even when they've served their terms. They go ahead to bring their own candidates who will remain loyal to them and  allow them continue their evil manipulations
Godfatherism in politics is different from Godfatherism in other field. In politics anyone that wants to Godfather you, is not doing that to favor you both to favor himself. This is because he has seen that you have a great potential in which you can use to win the people's heart to vote for you, and that is why he will bring you up to put you in that position where he can control you on what to do, so that the evil that he did during his tenure before he put you there as his Godson will not be reveal. That is the main reason why this politicians wants to put their own godson in power, and so that they can also get a percentage of the money coming into your office. Because I believe that an agreement is always signed on that percentage. So you can see how greedy politicians use Godfatherism to continue stealing from the country without stopping, as if Nigeria is their inheritance.

Developed countries wey de practice true democracies, dem politicians de get political mentors, like past leaders wey don perform for dem tenure and dis new politicians go emulate dem good work. But for most underdeveloped countries like inside Africa, na political godfathers de put leaders for office and dis godfathers go like to de control who dem put for power, dis practice de for Nigerian politics well well, godfathers go put dem loyalist for position and dem go de tell di person wetin im must do, if di leader no obey im godfather again, gbege don start be dat. Dis practice of godfatherism no de good for democracy, because these godfathers na selfish interest dem get, just to use who dem put for power to de indirectly rule, and de still from dem puppet office.
