Isn't this idea just second life done again? And whats with that highly dubious url?

Fortnite is just another iteration of something that has been going for years. You could just name minecraft or several MMOs.

This is not a "new version" of internet, its the same internet, your games and simulations are simply getting more immersive, that's all.

And sure, i wouldn't mind getting paid in a virtual world with bitcoin so i could use them in real life for the pesky physical needs. Right now this is somewhat possible often doing gray or forbidden activities (the so called real money trading). But of course some games do allow it.

I have always thought games should use a real crypto rather than their (unsafe) virtual money, ie. actual Bitcoin or at least some altcoin.

...This is pretty much just sig spam right? Cause you're not fully understanding what is going on in fortnite and why it is being referenced in connection with the Metaverse.

It's being referenced in connecting with the MV because of the fact that they just had a concert in game with 12.3m people showing up to listen to the concert -- this was over a 2 day period, and I think that's very cool to see as we're just scraping the surface of the MetaVerse - https://techcrunch.com/2020/04/24/fortnite-hosted-a-psychedelic-travis-scott-concert-and-12-3m-people-watched/

Epic Games is going further and even planning encore events so the show is going to go on. Very cool.

New internet: MMORPG

Personally I wouldn’t entrust my own wealth to MMORPG for the very reason many MMO simply goes bust in the pass decade, they’re leaving the online game whale who collect a lot of rare items and coins on their own, and just leaving a note that they’re running out of funds to continue running the servers. They’re truly sorry for the inconvenience, bow down like a true Japanese warriors Orz, and the life carry on with a brand new mmorpg, and this sucker just went to big conglomerate, and promote their own next Internet mmorpg, the future of economics.

Honestly was not expecting to get a Washington Post article here, but here we are. Was really expecting to get hit with some ZeroHedge, Google Sites, Blogspot, etc. But anyway - this is actually pretty insane to think about. So pretty much this is just an attempt to build an online world, with a functioning economy, concerts, etc.

A very cool thing to try to do. It opens up a world of possibilities that all of us can think imagine and another realm of possibilities that none of us can even imagine. Just based on the ones we can imagine -- concerts, baseball games, football games, and other sports, all televised live in a world where you're able to witness everything in another world. Just like the virtual concert that Marshmello put on for the people in the Fortnite community.

It's an amazing realm of possibilities that could be uncovered. Crazy, crazy, crazy.

Thanks for the great article, now I'm going to be stuck thinking about what the possibilities will be. +Merit.

That would be very nice.

It will have its own economy, complete with jobs, shopping areas and media to consume.":

The new internet is powered by Quanta so what if this is so expensive that our grand children can't afford it anymore. I propose This Idea to run them out soon.
