Pirate, The One-Eye Cat We Saved From The StreetsEnd of December 2013. It was like “Wuthering Heights” day – cold and awful. My mother met a grey cat on her way home. Small, looking like about three months old creature was extremely thin, dirty, with wounded ear, and what’s the worst… with frightening looking eye. The cat – to my mum’s astonishment – wasn’t scared and came to her with no fear, asking for caress. So, we love animals too much – my mom just couldn’t leave this one with no help. Kitty had been taken to vet.
Doctor examined the stray cat. His condition was very bad, but doctor decided she’d try to save and treat the cat. The biggest problem was the cat’s eye – damaged too much, so it had to be surgically removed. Unfortunately, at that moment it was too risky to operate, because cat had been too weak, refused to eat. First we needed to make him stronger. So we left him in a hospital to make sure he had the best care. We visited him every day. Over the next few days we realized that kitty was older than we thought: approx. 2 years – not months – old, and not gray, but white with tiger stripes. When he put on weight, the damaged eye was removed. After that operation we could finally take him home. He was safe and supported with our love and care. We called him a Pirat (Pirate).
He’s the most wonderful cat in the whole world. He loves to talk, to purr, to smooch, to play with his ball. He sleeps on my pillow. We know he’s grateful for saving his life, but… we are more grateful for having him. ....more
