Exactly, everybody is interested in buying without thinking the other way round.
If everyone continues to buy bitcoin and holding it, the amount of people to sell to will soon be few, which means all the holding is for nothing.

The other option then will be, to use it as a form of payments to goods or commodity and services.
But also, this has some shortcomings like if your country do accept bitcoin as a form of payments.

You made my whole day, are you the next Pablo Neruda? Or the next Paulo Coelho? Seriously, your phrases are very motivating

Buy when other are fearful
Sell when others are buying

You should not forget that bitcoin is probably the most volatile asset that has ever existed, and you should not believe or be a fan of it. Because it went from $600 to $17500 in just a year doesnt mean that it will be $100k during the next year.

Bitcoin is still undervalued so if you don't know how to make profitable exit or trade on short terms than Holding bitcoin bought at current price range will be best decision. Bitcoin can easily go over $100k

Of course that we all would love to see those rates, but we need to be realistic, maybe $25k - $30k are stable rates for the next year.

All I know is that I know nothing.
the most important question is actually: how much you understand bitcoin and by extension its market and potential and if you do really understand bitcoin and its potential you wouldn't be asking this question about "when to sell" here because it would be clear to you already.

you either see the potential and selling means a foolish idea unless you are a day trader. or you don't see the potential in which case what the hell are you doing here, get out fast!

Everyone is too focused on when to buy. Waiting for dips to enter into the market.

That is great, but the much more important question is:

When to sell bitcoin?

The timing on when to get out of bitcoin will be very hard to determine. What is your exit strategy? Will you risk everything and never cash out?

this is a simple answer. you can sell whenever you feel you can make a profit even for small profit. but most of the people want to sell if they think they can make a big profit. my exit strategy is if I can make more than 5% then I will sell and waiting the price is down so I can buy again and sell again when the price increase. I will do this over and over until I can reach 5 times trade.

I have an exit strategy as any good trader should have.

This is a specific exit TIME and an exit TARGET VALUE. Which ever comes first.
I will still keep a small portion of BTC for when shit goes really crazy. (Let's say a 5-10% of my holding)

For me this exit will buy me the house I want and some other luxuries. Everything I will earn from then on will be fun-money.

Yes I can go all greedy and want $1M more, $2M more, $5M, $100M, etc... but greed kills. Learnt this in trading a while back  Wink

So the thing about selling bitcoin is that it is a one time only thing, because one you do there is no guarantee that you will get the chance to rebuy your coins again because of how the price is constantly going up, the wisest thing to do when it comes to selling bitcoin is to divide your income from it into tow portions, sell one when you reach a certain profit that you set once you started, and save the other for later times, that way you would be profiting both on the long term and the short term, but still you have to be smart about it and be patient and pick the right timing, so you can avoid losing your money.

It depends on what is your goal in terms of getting the profit. You can do day trade as well as can hold for long time. But it cannot be said with any certainty that when to sell the bitcoins. If i have to sell, then i will sell whenever i am getting atleast 25-30% of profit.

If you are all in on Bitcoin, meaning it is your primary investment right now, I would definitely set a trailing stop (or a stop loss at support levels), buy some and diversify my portfolio. This would reduce risk.

When to sell bitcoin?

it depends on the goals of the person investing in bitcoin.

I agree! It always depends to the person who will buy and sell their bitcoins, but for me i will buy more bitcoin when the price is low and sell my bitcoins when the value of it is high and starting to decrease. You know all the people here will play safe when it comes to holding coins but there are times that i don't care whatever bitcoins price is.

well if you ask me, i will do simple and standard things. sometimes even more profitable and less risk of losses.
when you get the difference in profit then you sell bitcoin. do not hesitate to buy back more expensive if we are sure the price will go up.

my plain answer is these:
-make a knowledge about crypto
-buy when you feel it on its dip...
-make a mark or target price for selling
-get more knowledge about bitcoin, forecasting base on current event are good
-read a lot...

That could be a good question and only the Bitcoin holder can only answer that based on his own strategy and plans. As for me, I am trying to hold my Bitcoin into next year because I am sure that 2018 can be a banner year for Bitcoin after all the turmoils and that roller-coaster ride in 2017. Maybe when Bitcoin can hit $30,000 I might be selling all of my holdings and then use the money to develop my upland farm. People should realize that Bitcoin is an asset and when we convert it to cash it should be invested somewhere so that the value would not just evaporate...this is the best way we are building up our net worth and in the process make a long-term source of income for us and for our families.

When to sell bitcoin?

it depends on the goals of the person investing in bitcoin.
some may not even care about selling and getting the fiat. they have invested a couple of bucks. maybe less than $100 and and now have 1000 bitcoin and still don't care about selling it since price is too low.

some others are traders, for them it is buy in the dip sell after rise then buy back in the next dip. they increase the bitcoin they own day by day.

some others are like you, they panic sell in the dip or try to short bitcoin when price is rising and lose money.
each person chooses the strategy based on their goals and what they are capable of doing. there is no single answer to when to sell that works for everyone.

Bitcoin is still undervalued so if you don't know how to make profitable exit or trade on short terms than Holding bitcoin bought at current price range will be best decision. Bitcoin can easily go over $100k+ within next few years.

but its hard to tell whether most people are fearful or most of them are buying or not.  i guess there is no best time to sell because at the end of day, your are still the one who decides on what is your real goal and how much profit do you need in order for you to sell you bitcoins. in my case i usually sell all of my coins whenever or wherever i recieve something on my bitcoin wallet in order for it to be safe and secure for further fluctuations that may possibly occur.

What is the best exit strategy?

Stop-Loss of 20-25%?

At a certain return... say 200-300%, 500%, 1000% ROI?

Based on current events?

When is the best time to cash in bitcoin...
