I don't play League and I know base on their "stats" they have the most players in the competitive platform industry. I recognize about the stats about Dota 2 because the last The International 2019 made history for having the huge prize pool in any esports tournament.
And I think this will continue to gain traction and popularity because of the esports industry is becoming bigger and gaining popularity to the world. As you can see, streamers and every tournament that they do, the prize pool is becoming the interest of the players so watchers are there and viewership is increasing because of it.

It’s pretty common to see esports viewership compared to the Super Bowl, but that’s not the most accurate comparison. This time, we’re recapping the most watched esports events of 2019.

According to the report, the League of Legends World Championship dominated the competition when it came down to most hours watched. However, the competition ran for almost a month, and was hosted in Berlin, Madrid, and Paris. The length of the event, combined with where it aired and who battled it out, was a huge spectacle, and amassed more than 137 million hours watched.
In second place was Dota 2’s The International 2019, which clocked in at 88 million hours watched. Following on from Dota 2 was the IEM Katowice Major, StarLadder Major Berlin, and Mid-Season Invitational reaching 53 million, 45 million, and 43 million respectively.
Average Viewership
In terms of average viewership, League of Legends World Championship and the International 2019 both did pretty well, hitting 1 million and 726,000 average viewers each. However, they were beaten by the finals of the Fortnite World Cup, which maintained an average viewership of 1.1 million - plus it lasted for a much shorter amount of time than the League of Legends World Championship. Ultimately, the most popular event of 2019 was the Free Fire World Series 2019 Rio with 1.2 million average viewership!
