A VPN is like a shield. You don't reveal your real IP while using a VPN. People mostly use them for getting around restrictions or if they want a more private connection depending on what they are doing.

Some VPNs may help you keep your privacy secured and also VPN could also be the reason that your data is taken or saved so, the best solution on having a more secured wallet is by using hardware wallets like Trezor and Ledger or you can have both to split your crypto or in short not keeping your eggs in one basket.

I used VPN but for securing your wallet that's a big NO, that article you read is not reliable at all, there are nothing you'll gain from buying in it, better you should buy it for a hardware wallet.

I just use VPN to bypass some geo restrictions on some favorite sites I use to visit as my country censored it, you know what I mean. Roll Eyes

You can't use VPN to secure your wallet friend ,VPN is not responsible for keeping your private keys ,VPN is for securing locations not crypto wallet and I hope you don't come across any VPN asking for your crypto wallet info? Thread carefully my friend

Hello everyone! I still really new here and also beginner in mining and using in crypto currency in general. I've read some articles that it's better to secure your crypto wallet very well and it suggests to buy a vpn. I asked some of my friends who's little bit into this, they suggested me nordvpn. Although I'd like to get some opinion from people who know this field well. Also, is there any other benefit of having vpn in this field?

If your question is about funds security, then having a VPN or not is irrelevant and you should better chose a hardware wallet, such as Trezor or Ledger.
(You should avoid savings a few bucks on a solution that's maybe a bit less expensive, because this is very sensitive and those 2 companies are very trusted and serious)

Bitcoin wallets act as nodes and relay transactions that are unknown to their own list of peers, this is how it is broadcast on the network.
For your wallet to be on this or that network, it doesn't change much, as it is P2P.

In bitcoin, there are only valid or invalid transactions.
There is no big or small, no legal or illegal, no borders, etc ...

As bob123 is say, VPN can protect your privacy in a way that hide your traffic from your ISP, and it only depends to who you trust more in this case. Regarding any extra security for your wallet, do not waste your money on VPN, this will not help you in protection from hackers, malware or any bad things which you can pick-up on internet.

I see that you also are mentioning mining, and just a warning for you and others who think that there is profit in cloud, browser or PC mining, stay away from that and save time&money.

NordVpn is €73.74 per year, and for almost same price you can buy decent hardware wallet and raise the level of security of your wallet to a high level.

I'm from the US and I know that many vpns from my country or UK they really have to log the data because that says the law. That's why I was thinking about nordvpn because they're based in Panama where's no laws about requiring to log the data.
From which country are you? And do you think that if I'm in the US it should be better to use ISP instead of VPN?

You don't get ANY benefit at all.

All you are doing is that you are shifting your trust from your ISP to the VPN provider.

I don't know from which country you are... but in my country the ISP is way waaay more trustworthy than a random VPN provider whose business model is user data.

P.s. Even if the VPN provider claims to not save logs.. they do. They need to.

P.p.s. There are legitimate reasons to use a VPN. But those are mostly to circumvent geo blocking.
