Football and cricket are exciting games and there is no situation to control emotions in this game. So no matter how much we talk about controlling emotions, no one can control emotions in the last minute especially in stressful situations. As a supporter of Argentina in the last World Cup, I was not in a position to control myself or control my emotions.

That is just half of what most fans can show for the love of the beautiful game, see football is a game of passion, sometimes it goes your way sometimes it doesn't, and we will start looking for whoose head will go for it, I know that it is actually wrong for the press man to start laying abuse's on the Coach, which I know that his emotions are getting the better of him, he will come back to his senses when his emotions has subsided.
It is very good that we as a football fan can control our emotions because results can't go out way every time, so it's important as a football fan that we should always have our emotions in check even as a bad loser that we are, their are some fans that goes as far as sending death threat to coaches, player or even a reff, which is really bad, and it's not a good thing, and we should all stop it for the love of the beautiful game.

Ghana fans look angry, this is natural because they consider themselves strong, so losing to a weak team makes it difficult for them to accept the reality. And in my opinion, Ghana fans have a sense of right to express their anger demanding that their team should not lose to any team despite the fact that they performed poorly at AFCON.

But apart from all that Ghana Fans should also try to find out why they have never won the African championship, That might help. Feeling sick after every match is normal, it is normal for them to be disappointed, angry and so on. In fact, there are no more small teams in African football. The choice is that you rise on the field or be defeated. Because when playing Football, Past records don't mean anything when you start.

Football will always make many of us feel very emotional. Some compare that in football it is like measuring up in wars. There is nothing more beautiful than enjoying football in all its facets, but with respect, football makes you make friends, football is for everyone, if they used football to make great friends, I think things would be different, Everyone makes their effort and everyone always has things to do, so this is something that can be very decisive, I personally always say that the main thing about football is knowing how to enjoy it and that there is no violence in any way.

Before now I believe we already know that football is a game of passion, spirit, and emotion which always influences the die-hard fans, or supporters into doing or saying some bad things out of emotional anger.
If watch the premier league, Brazilian league, etc this is something that happened at some point but only a few fans can avoid his/her supported team losing to the underdog team.

Exactly. I think it's football games that I would really excuse going bonkers and crazy cause that's the culture of the game in the first place. You wouldn't go to a carnaval in Brazil and have them stop their floats and partying just cause it doesn't seem nice for you for them to be that loud in the dead of the night. There are certain situations where emotions are called for, and I think football's just one of those games that deserve to not be called out for when they go stupid like this lol.

For one, it makes for good content, people will keep watching and supporting the sport when they see that people are this passionate about the game across the planet. It also inadvertently makes the game better and safer cause if people could just go about doing something like that, then for the safety of the players and the coaches they might want to install even more robust systems to keep them safe.

It's correct, but it is nothing special to the AFCON teams. I think we all remember when coaches like Jose Mourinho behaved outrageously or when some coach freaked out and called other coaches or the referee names. It shouldn't be like that, but I am sure that emotions getting out of control will remain a part of any game, whether that happens in amateur or in professional leagues. There is something to learn from it, but it doesn't mean that there will never be an idiot crossing the boundaries for good or acceptable behavior again.

But I think that especially the club's representatives should make sure that they don't fall out of line and understand they are role models for so many people.

Getting to that point already is too much. If you are getting way too emotional about football, then you are doing something wrong. Don't get me wrong, it's normal to get happy when your team wins, but you should not be really getting too much emotional after a loss or something, or get too hyped about a game before the game starts, or care about the end of the season results too much.

The results of games are not expected and are definitely not going to go our way most times and this is better understood if we allow ourselves to be better entertained than the fanatic nature have a better part of us when watching football games as dose more harm than good and have a better part of us and we may suffer some negative effects such as becoming sad and may even get depressed in cases of extreme emotional involvement. As football fans to enjoy games it's better to watch for entertainment and not just because you are a fan alone.

It is normal for one to attach emotion in football, more especially when result turns against their wish, sports in general work with emotions and it how it is, note, a gambler gambles to win and he doesn't win he will feel bad because money and emotion is involved, gambling without something at stake is not real gambling, though two events are bound to occur in gambling which is winning or losing, gamblers should know this, but in real sense, no loser will be happy that he lost, that's natural, even when your favourite team win in a particular match but performed poorly you wont be comfortable too because the next match might not be favorable to them, what am saying in essence is that as a gambler or a football fan it is not bad to attach emotion but it shouldn't be extreme.

I also think like you that it's rude but that's how it happens. Those who are already emotional will not think about the impact or risks they will experience because they just want to express their emotions until they are satisfied by destroying public facilities. I believe they failed to understand the fact that in a game there must be a winner and a loser and also to not underestimate your opponent. Maybe the Ghanian team and fans expected the match to end in their victory forgetting that the game was a bone of contention between both teams. Although it is very disappointing but they should not have taken it that far by abusing and insulting the coach and team players.

This kind of situations happen when the people involved are not entertainment conscious but are just thinking of winning it all by all means which did not go down well with them. I think they need to be oriented to know how tournaments are. After all other previous AFCON tournament they have been playing did they cause their team and coach.

Not only Ghanaian fans are crazy passionate about football, but football fans are in general more crazy than any other sports fan. I have never heard that in any other sports, fans throw something on the field (fliers for example) to make opponents team fail. I have never heard that there are any sports fans, that fight against opposite team fans after the match. Ultras for example. Cant remember any other sport that football where there are such fans. I cant remember that there are any sports fans, that destroy the city, overturn cars when their team looses.

Are they that good in the last few seasons? From what I've seen their rank on FIFA is not that high compared to other participants. Granted you can't really use that ranking as a basis to judge the result, but I still think that shows a little bit of how their international match performs.

Btw, does the sentiment about lack of commitment really exist? Their matches are quite tight as far as I'm aware. They managed to score goals quite well, although their defense is poor. Stats-wise they never look like a team that dominates the game, which works quite well other than the fact that they still concede goals[1]. CMIIW.

I think that was rude. I will never do that no matter what. Money can only be found again but the reputation will hard to be restored once it was tarnished. So, all must be careful on how they will carry their selves especially in public places. There is no need to predict what will be the consequences of doing it because it is already obvious. Yes, anything is possible in sports and as well as in gambling.

There are instances that it was actually unreal or manipulated. But again we need to control our tempter when things like this happen. This year's AFCON is somewhat different, the tournament is getting tougher and big teams are no more favourites. Ivory Coast, Algeria, Tunisia have also been knocked out from the group stage. So Ghanaians should take a chill pill, accept their failure, work harder and come back stronger next time.

This is why i've been avoiding this tournament because the previous AFCON wasn't any different. As a sports bettor, I agree you need to learn to accept these bad results because even the best teams can start to crack on their bad days, and expressing negativity to the players and their management won't solve anything.

The video links OP shared might not be gamblers, but some people can be just as emotional or even worse when their bets lose because of a specific player or team.

Regardless of the outcome of any football match I don't think the fans of any football team should act so unprofessional because the results of the game didn't go their own way, too bad that after the poor performance of Ghana which actually took them by surprise because they played like a team that had already won the match before it began, the team and her fans couldn't control their emotions and at the get got things messy again. I think there is a need for CAF to sanction the entire Ghanaian team and her fans whi h started the drama so that they will learn to control their emotions when next they play in the nations cup.

Personally I have been supporting a particular club for years now and I understand how it feels when things don't go as planned but weake no troubles than to accept the outcome of the game and work harder to win the next game. Football is a game of luck and fun no one should be violent when the game doesn't end in their favor.

Sometimes a strong team will not guarantee to continue winning, but at least there are still many chances of winning if the team we support is the top-ranked team and the opponent team is low-ranked.

I was just about to ask OP what's the status of both teams overall but when I read this post, it says it all. It's now clear to me that Mozambique is the underdog, that even worse than the usual underdog against the much stronger Ghana. It's a slap to the face on the Ghanaian team to lose over Mozambique which was supposed to be a bonus round for them but an upset happened.

If that's the situation that happened, I can't blame the fans for how they reacted. It's a problem that the Ghana team should work out.

There was a similar situation in my country's stadium sometime ago when the fans stoned both the coach, referees and the other officials who were part of the team that led the club to the stadium, which made the football body ban some football activities in that stadium for some time.
So this is not a new thing to see fans going overboard in reactions to what outcome the club come up with this mostly happens in local football because the International leagues already have basic security architecture to secure the stadium and environs.

It goes for many sports, but for some reason it is deemed more acceptable or action is not taken against individuals who conduct themselves so badly. Then again, the players are allowed to abuse referees on the pitch, which sets a bad precedent for the fans abusing officials or staff related to the teams as well. If the public fans saw a crackdown against poor player behavior, they would fall in line too. However any people who do these things should get incremental bans that do not reset, 1 month the the first time, 3 months the second time, then a year, then a lifetime ban. Public shaming of the worst offenders might also cause them a bit of self reflection too - as they often try to hide in the shadows. There are plenty of decent people out there who would love to attend these games and pick up any extra tickets that became available, plus a nicer environment would persist all round.

Discipline is supposed to be imbibed in every sportsperson. There is a need to understand that it's a game and there must be a winner so even when you don't win act disciplined on the ground that you are a human and everyone deserves some level of respect.

No doubt, football is a game of passion and it is difficult to differentiate passion and emotions. However, in my opinion, attaching emotion to sports is not bad but a person should only be guided against showing violence due to emotions.

Well I can't myself not guilty of over reacting because of football because that's the epitome of every football lover behavior. But I agree that violence is no way to go about this feeling with your team losing. Let me tell you a story of what happened when I went to watch a match in a football film house, it's common here in my place, so this boy was is a stammerer and a hard die fan of Chelsea. His club was having challenges last season and this boy argued with his friend that Chelsea are going to win Leed United because they were in relegation zone then but in the end, Chelsea FC conceded 3 goals and lost, he was mocked and when he wanted to defend himself, he bursted into cry because he couldn't due to his disability but after the match, I saw him and his friends doing their things, that's football for you.

Did you know that Ghana head coach was sacked immediately because of what happened, they fumbled and disgrace Ghana for losing to Mozambique in 90+ minutes but I think the fans over reacted, some people seems like they are frustrated and we're looking to paste their anger on the players that didn't do well in the Afcon match.

there are some die-hard fans who really are investing too much emotion on their games. it is as if the athletes are paying them to defend them at all cost. these fans need to wake from the reality that these athletes won't be there if they cause trouble. actually, it is not good in their image if they are involved into nonsense trouble owed to some crappy reasons.

Football is a great game to watch but it also plays a lot of role on how we feel, think and react to some certain things that occurred during the process of playing and in turn if affects our emotions. We should not allow our emotions to override us as it is only a game of fun and can one day be in your favour and the other time, it will totally be against you. The Ghanaian National team were eliminated because of their poor performance and inability to win a team that ought to have been beaten by them. Underrating is not nice in a game of football and now they’ve to reap the fruits of their negligence in the first place. I saw that they also sacked their coach after they were not able to qualify for the round of 16 after all three matches were played. Let’s await and see the results of the other teams and see maybe they can qualify amongst the best third places in the group stage. But for now, they’ve ti just accept the result and take it as fate.

People just have to know that in sports, for a team to win, the other must lose and vice versa, it is a game that is somehow unpredictable. So, attaching so much emotions will only be detrimental to the fan and even the team if he allows his emotions control his actions and utterances. It is very okay to love a team to the extent of feeling emotional over their defeat but raining curses and abuses on the team is no way an encouragement, it is an unpatriotic act for his country. It is a problem when the fans cannot manage defeat effectively even if they placed bets on their favourite team. As we should. No one has guarantee of the result, that's why you gamble. As you gamble, you are betting also with your fortune and luck; part of this is to either lose or win. No matter how huge the difference with odds and handicap, only the result could tell things. With this, being preventive of your own emotions to get over you is the best thing as well as your discipline to the amount you are betting. A controlled bet would allow you to avoid regrets of losing huge money or satisfaction with the amount you will be earning after a winning bet; it might not be that much with what is everyone expecting but bottomline is that you earn profit from doing so. its funny how people assume that football is won by how big a team his or how popular a county his. No Country came to the afcon for the purpose of catching cruise or to allow their opponent win them just like that. The same way Ghanaians want to qualify for the next round of the tournament is the same way their opponent want it also it's just whichever team that put in the needed work that end up winning the match at the end of the day.

Talking about the reactions of the Ghanian fans towards their team, it's normal for them to react badly because some of them paid huge some of money just to witness the game only to see that  they could not win a single game till they were sent out of the tournament. It's enough reading to be angry but for a journalist to publicly rain insult on the national team coach is uncalled for and very unprofessional of him.

Football gains meaning if there is love, peace and brotherhood. Football ceases to be football if there is intolerance, conflict and hatred. We must be free from all forms of fanaticism and hooliganism. Fanaticism and hooliganism are part of collectivist movements that dull the human mind. From time to time I feel similar situations in the tribune, so I decide to watch the matches at home even though I have a season ticket. I have never harmed anyone in my life because of football. I love football, but for me football is a subset of some value patterns that are more valuable than football.

There are two things here. First, if the people were angry with the bad performance of their team, this aggression may not be because all of them were betting on the game and lost the bet but it could be that they want their national team to win and  due to a draw they were not able to qualify. Winning and losing is a part of the game, and there is no need to be angry or show such emotions on a teams loss.

Even if most of those people were gambling, and they were sure that they would have won this match, still nothing is certain is any sports and gamblers should manage their risks accordingly.  Even when you are sure the one team is weak this does not mean that they will lose. On a bad day for a good team, the upsets do happen and in that case, most of the betters will lose their bets.

They might have placed some bets on Ghana and got furious by the fact the underdog team managed to draw against the favorite. Maybe they even thought results could have been fixed, what potentially justifies so much dissatisfaction and rage from the crowd. If they love their country so much it's not through soccer they should show it, especially when creating troubles and quarrels with the members involved on the soccer industry of the country. Love for the country is shown in the daily life, when focused in improving life quality of the population, seeking to see the country developing itself in education, health, infrastructure and technology sectors. Sports should remain in second plan, at least in countries which aim to develop themselves as strong, independent and influent nations.

There are so many important and meaningful things to be angry about, that to put all their energies into a lost soccer match seems a big waste. What difference would it make for real if the national team would have won? Would it bring more food into the table next day? Unless there was money wagered, the answer is no, so it really makes no sense to fight for something so insignificant like that, also because they may be risking their lives by doing so...

I also watched a short video clip were some fans vented anger on their national team, I think such kind of embracing behavior might discourage some of the Europe based players to stop coming to represent the country in their subsequent international matches, though Mozambique might be weaker compared to the star-studded Black Star of Ghana, their should be aware that a lot of lowly rated national team had up their game thus creating upsets especially in the ongoing AFCON for instance Ivory coast is the verge of being eliminated after losing 0-4 to an underdog Equitorian Guinea, Cape Verde is another tournament underdog who topped their table in a group which consist of Ghana and Egypt
