I joined to buy some asicminor shares, but I missed out cause I am stuck in this newbie forum...LOL 
I only joined because I'm interested in the group buy (UK reship) for Block Erupter USB.

So It seems to me that this forum is just people replying to the top few posts with a few words until they are allowed to leave. Correct?
Every once in a while somebody has an actual question, which I might answer, or an original thought, which I might respond to, but you are correct, most of the stuff in "Newbies" is just useless drivel of people wasting four hours trying to get out of the newbie section. I am sure glad I didn't have to go through the newbie section when I first joined the forum (Newbie forum was created a bit after I joined).
I think this true for some. But I still like to post here.
Its a good way to slow down the spam. I mean, it takes a little work to be able to post in the other forums.
I think newbie forums will become increasingly common. Makes it harder for people to set up sock puppets and gets new users up to speed on current issues in the community without having to bog down the main forum as much with simple questions.
I just started, and I already like the newbie forum. Just a good mix of everything here.
Some people definitely do that. However, I've been allowed to leave the newbie forum for over a week now, and I still stay here and do most of my posts here. Its my favorite forum:).
