I think it was the admin who gave those titles and not people that chose it. Because no one will choose untrustworthy

Does this mean that the forum was moderating scam before. But later theymos stopped moderating scam and left it for the community to handle.
It is a custom title, and if you only know about it with Craig Wright account in 2025, you can not know when theymos assigned that custom title.

There are other forum members with custom titles.

They chose the titles themselves as donators (50BTC+) to the forum. The forum is no longer accepting donations, so you cannot choose a custom title for yourself.

it's not 50 bitcoins, it was more like 100 pounds at that time.

If someone had written to the admin and offered to donate 2 million pounds, he wouldn't have refused.
Donators and VIP members donated their bitcoins in the past, not in Euro, pound or US dollar. They possibly calculated their bitcoin donation in fiat value (or they did not), but they donated bitcoins, not other coins or fiat currencies.

In the past, forum security bounties paid in gold, troy ounces of gold converted to Bitcoin equivalent value.

Maybe he would   not want the tax issues and reject the coins.

If I was offered 50 coins I would not accept them until I got an IRS ruling on them.

Thermos would be in the same shape.

USA laws are written that

 a. You owe tax on 5 million
b. If the coins are tainted the government can take them.
c. You still owe tax on the illegally obtained coins.

  • It is saddening how communication has changed in the forum. I have been reading the Satoshi threads and people were writing a few line posts and they were very humorous and engaging. You will not help but smile as you read and wish you existed then. Fast forward till today, people write long posts like machines and there's no humour in it. Some high rank people accuse new people of the offence they didn't commit and tag them. They bully people to leave this place for them alone
I don't think anyone bullies low rank account to leave the community. This is almost an anonymous space so everyone has to be careful they way the exchange information and interact to avoid being scammed. There have been cases of hacks, scam and impersonation so to avoid being a victim new account/low rank account has to be checked occasionally until they have established a good reputation to be earn some trust.

Communication were fairly short and precise during the early days of bitcointalk because back then communication were more on technical issues but today we have more users on the economic, societal, political, scam related, meta and gambling application of bitcoin as well as off-topics so to sell out your point you have to make the post engaging and lengthy.

Can you show us a few examples of the bullying you refer to? Because I disagree with that. Someone who gets tagged unjustly can always raise their issue with valid points and provable evidence, and if it's proven that they have been bullied and the tags are not justified, they are reverted.

The trust system has been a huge improvement for the forum, and it is very useful if you ask me. Can you imagine this forum without the trust system? There would be no trusted members; anyone with a legendary rank would be considered a reputable member, which wouldn't be fair at all because not everyone has a history of good trades in the forum and can be trusted.

Anyway, when it comes to the custom titles you are suggesting, I agree with @gmaxwell on that.

I'm guessing most of those accounts have long since been taken over by hackers or sold, so you'd potentially just be giving some scammer undeserved recognition.

Plus when they are held by their original owner they may not want the additional recognition.  But if they do they can note their posts in their signatures. Smiley
Like this list, full of scammers and some famous scam activities in the past.
Legendary profiles of bitcointalk.

Many accounts were hacked in three forum hacks with mass accounts were compromised but there are accounts hacked separately and don't relate to past forum hacks.

How about if the admin gives the old people that communicated with Satoshi, who are still active a custom title of "OG" or "Bitcointalk OG" or "OG Bitcoiner". At the end of this post, I will drop the list of people who discussed in the Satoshi thread that are still active who can be given the OG title or we track it by the year of registration

After said old timers bullies the new timers does it still make sense recognizing such old timers at this era of platform as OGs? Because that seems to be highily graded and exemptional to other members.
Regardless of those who had been here during the time of Satoshi, I humbly acknowledge them with a doff of my cap but I think it is unnecessary having that remark of OGs. Like said, even some new timers are  more relevant to the old timers because individual attributes to the wills to the forum matters which any user can become a solution to the community.
I verily acknowledge it is the deeds of the OGs too that has brought about what we enjoy in the forum today as the forum is a tip to advance by individual ideas that are put to good working.

I used 200 for height. I think it should be fine now. I use mobile phone, I don't know how it will appear on desktop.
They are still quite big with me. You can see another thread and adjust width or height smaller like that thread if you like it.
Save your nice merit records here.

Images there are visually smaller than yours.

Images are too large. You need to reduce its display size with width or height
Code:
You can use only width, only height or both.
Thank you. When I uploaded the images with talkImage, they gave me a default width and height, but it was so large and I removed it. What is the recommended hxw for small images.

Edited: Thank you. I used 200 for height. I think it should be fine now. I use mobile phone, I don't know how it will appear on desktop.

@Jay, yes, there are other threads. I just pointed out one which is very iconic to me.

I observed that most of the Bitcointalk OGs have custom titles such as "donator", "untrustworthy", "V2.0", "Early bitcoin miner" etc

Why isolate a single thread to give out titles? Satoshi created other threads and many more people interacted with him on them.

Before I proceed with my suggestions, I want to state the following things.
  • I am very happy today because I stumbled on the Satoshi thread in the forum Welcome to the new Bitcoin forum!
  • I sent merit to Satoshi, so I am confident to brag to my friends that I am in the same forum where Satoshi developed bitcoin and I sent Satoshi a merit gift
  • This is the forum I have seen where old is better than new. The new is good because there are more people now. But I don't get tired reading the old posts. I don't know if it is because I have this natural love for old things, the reason why I visit the museums more than the cinema, unlike my fellow girls

My observation
I observed that most of the Bitcointalk OGs have custom titles such as "donator", "untrustworthy", "V2.0", "Early bitcoin miner" etc
  • How about if the admin gives the old people that communicated with Satoshi, who are still active a custom title of "OG" or "Bitcointalk OG" or "OG Bitcoiner". At the end of this post, I will drop the list of people who discussed in the Satoshi thread that are still active who can be given the OG title or we track it by the year of registration
  • I have voted recently in the community award. I saw categories such as bitcoin hero, bitcoin geek, local hero, craft master and more. The admin can also include this custom title for the winners of that particular year

I am happy and grateful to my fiance for introducing me here. Thank you all for reading.
