First, In my own opinion being proud of your nationality is not discriminating the other.
Secondly, perhaps you are right but for me giving no importance on behalf of your fellow citizen here is a kind of destroying your own reputation from the place where you belong and the reason why Pharmacist generalised the Filipinos that we have no good contribution to BCT and I thanked him for this because it is a chance for us Filipino to become fully aware.
So concerning the words "destroying reputation" this is not intended to anyone but I said this intentionally to my fellows who wants to bring a new member here but a shitposter.

Hi I'm a Filipino and I am always proud of my nationality. Concerning with the post of pharmacist I can't deny it and accept it as true since the evidence is clear. The hard thing to accept the truth is when it is presented in an unfriendly manner but how a person can do that if the frustration is already controlling the emotion. So I could say on the side of pharmacist that what he has done is understandable and a good chance for us filipipinos to walk away from being shitposters. It is easy to read and understand a bad English than to understand the growth of shitposters.
So although it's hurt for calling that Filipino has no good contribution here let us prove that pharmacist is wrong and avoid to become shitposter. And also to my fellows if you think that a person you will going to tell about bitcoin will become just one of those shitposters and destroy our reputation please do the best thing to instruct or better to keep it secret than adding a person here that will be one of those who are destroying the reputation Filipino here.

Signature campaign rules are not the same as forum rules/guidelines, but I highly doubt that actually means much to you shit posters.

You generalize us Filipinos as a shitposter for a single liner post! try to lookup your inter post first before you judge us Filipinos! your even spam before or even have single word post, we Filipino is a good worker here and just follow rules.

Some of the signature campaign just ask 80 or 100 characters length and that's only a single line post and that's a very simple rules.

I'll echo your sentiment, bud, adding that during the going on seven years I've been here, I've never ignored a single user nor considered it. Not relevant to this thread, but I've also never solicited or accepted a single satoshi for my scam-busting services in this community, as well as refusing tips regardless the amount (tip amounts never revealed; simply flat-out rejected them, thanking users for the offers). I'm pretty sure nobody else in this space can declare said truism.

Quasi back on topic, I don't have a horse in this race but do find this thread interesting and informative.

This is my experience:

Last year i followed an airdrop (a free airdrop), because i was intetersted on related project. Rules for joining airdrop was easy: at least to be a BTC talk Junior Member, have telegram and a twitter account. Well, over 90% (but i think near 95% ì) of airdroppers was from Philipines & Indonesia. Most of them just opened a new BTCtalk account and made a lot of shitpost, just for became Jr. Also a lot of them had multiple accounts or used airdrop telegram group for begging money. Obiouvsly: 1 days after airdrop this new coin goes near to 0 due to high sale volume. A ridicoluos thing was that most of them called "scammer" the developers (that had spent a lot of time and money for develop the idea), accusing them to not support this coin to go on coinmarketcap.

Due this  experience  i could say that i understand the Pharmacist's frustation. Is not easy to fight around tons of spammers here. Also i could say that 99% of post that began with word like "Does - Why - What " are just shitpost made by spammers.
 

The world isn't some hippy love fest and neither is this place and The Pharmacist didn't break any laws as far as I'm aware. I believe in freedom of speech but that works both ways so we aren't going to remove something just because it is deemed 'racist' or someone else doesn't like it, but there are rules here. You can actually say things deemed racist or offensive here just as long as you make a valid point and are not just doing it with the sole intention to inflame or aggravate someone (even if someone is actually aggravated by it). Sure, many people are going to find what he said offensive but I personally don't believe he broke the rules. As others have said, every user here is free to ignore any users they don't like and I would suggest you do that rather than hope staff will make a judgement call on it for you.

Legitimate people need not buy other people's accounts. They also need not/will not spam. Strong changes to these two things will not impact any legitimate users.

Unfortunately, neither: a) Strong changes to reacting towards spam; b) Strong changes to who can run signature campaigns and how, have been made. Either one of those would significantly help the forum.

As I've suggested in another thread, bounty sign ups should be handled outside of the forum.

It would be nice just to be fair and square with others. Never in my real life to make a statements like that will offend someone specially speaking about the race. We do not own their lives and we have no right to control the or say anything bad to them. This is a forum that all people can share together for the common good and not for the interest for oneself. I believe we are a loving community and all were happy to use this forum for many things and not for dragging people down. I hope the mods can see "The Pharmacist post and have a review on it for fare usage according to the laws.

I've witnessed how much work the mods actually do to try and combat the spam that keeps on popping up. By the time they have mopped up a few hundred posts when they check again there's another few hundred posts to deal with. It's a vicious circle right now which quite frankly won't be prevented by hiring new mods. Changes to the structure of the forum is likely the only way we are going to combat this. But, then we risk hindering the actual legitimate users of the forum, which I for one aren't a fan of.

Signature campaigns are a big problem of the forum. Changes have been forced which are far from perfect. The changes which have been made have done little to actually stop the widepread spamming. Serious discussion and it's sub board for example isn't dealing with it directly but, allowing a safe haven for discussions that people want to talk about without the annoying spam.

It isn't just signature campaigns. Altcoin annoucements and bounties are a big part of the problem and it tends to be a spamming ground for many non English, broken English and English responses.

The forum shouldn't have to accommodate for signature campaigns. Signature campaigns should accommodate for the forum. What should be done is if the signature manager isn't doing it's job then the thread should be trashed and the manager punished.

I don't know if you've ever run something which requires using moderators, but it's incredibly difficult to find trustworthy ones who most likely have no identity attached to them, more so on a cyptocurrency forum. Plus, any of the reports that I make normally get dealt with within a few hours at most. The forums staff team cover almost 24/7 between them.

A dumb logic would be to do nothing and have the forum to become what it is now. we need 2 mods to verify who is participating in signature campaigns.

You could pay $2 per post, whatever the fee per post, it has to be enough to pay for at least 6 new mods, 2 of them to be active for 8 hours, another 2 for the next 8 hours and the last 2 for the last 8 hours of a 24 hours day. forum needs more than 6 new mods, this is just to have 24 hours online mods on the boards with the most spam.
Let them pay, if you have enough moderators, you could stop them from breaking the rules. you say they'll rank up by spending time? they are doing the ranking up and are earning at the same time, if they'd post just to rank up without breaking the rules, you couldn't do anything to stop that, it is their time.

What you say makes sense, but what I said kind of confused you. I meant that users are allowed to post anywhere in the forum, as long as they are not breaking the rules mentioned by mprep and they are not shitposting and saying bull shit. If they do so, yes then they are banned and corrective action is taken. But still those users come back with the greed of participating in signature campaigns. Administrators do not have all the time in the world to check who is avoiding their ban and what not.
Posting is not exactly a right, it is a privilege, I agree. Excluding bounty sections from counting towards activity makes sense. Altcoin sections seem a little harsh, though it can be argued that this is a bitcoin forum.

And at the end of it, this doesn't stop account farmers who just shitpost to gain activity. They can just not wear a signature until they reach their desired rank.

I used to be called idol in a  game where the majority of players are Filipinos, they are really simple people, once I got in a signature campaign when I had neg trust after I posted something in Filipinos language, tagalog. I was in love with a girl, though she was Chinese but a Filipino was my competition.

It could be partly my fault, ever since I talked about Bitcoin on a game with 3000 Filipino players, I started to see more of them here, price was $2000 back then. oi The pharmacist, do you think that you are special? (you are fluent in English, that doesn't mean you are above them all).

Mr. prep talk to mr. theymos to change activity counting, for example if you are wearing a signature you wouldn't have your activity increased but even getting negative activity per post while wearing a signature. then make people to pay at least $0.1 per post if they would like to maintain their rank. then exclude bounty and altcoin sections from counting towards your activity.

This is not off topic, this is why we're here on this topic, when you have a signature on even for a day, your activity should decrease for 2 weeks per post, that way, no body could trick the system.

While The Pharmacist tends to go a bit overboard in his rhetoric, as many have mentioned, his frustrations aren't completely unfounded. Nothing has led me to such desperation as watching East Asian and Russian spammers flood the forum with waves of crap that I'll never be able to mop up, no matter how hard I tried. And while the not every [insert nationality here] is a spammer principle applies, trends do exist and certain countries with shitty living standards do tend to dominate the spamming sphere more than their more affluent counterparts. (Usually) not the individual's fault, but the mind does tend to lump people into categories.

I speak 2 languages fluently. English is my second language. You have no excuses. This is an english speaking forum - if you can't speak english well, either stay in the local sections or don't post at all. Also, it's mprep (pronounced as em-prep; always starts with a lowercase m when written).

I understand him somehow. I myself have trouble finding valuable topics to read, or having a normal discussion with users. And when I see an interesting topic and start to read, 80% is filled with stupid posts (bitcoin is good so it will go to the moon and because the moon bitcoin will shine it's the best crypto, bitcoin is freedom and so bitcoin is awesome) When you read 20-30 posts like this one, you don't even remember the original topic. For the same thing, people open 4-5 different topics making several duplicate topics, while you just need to search before and if there is already a topic, stick with it

OK, so there are Filipino mods.  Does that negate what I said about the Phillipines' collective contribution to bitcointalk?  Hell, no!  Not all shitposters are from the Phillipines, but most Filipinos from what I've seen are shitposters.  They didn't come to an English-language forum to discuss bitcoin in a language that's not their own.  They came here to earn money from campaigns that only pay for English posts, and they're wiping their ass with bitcointalk in the process with the results you can clearly see in sections like Bitcoin Discussion & Economics.

In this post someone who doesn't understand the difference between public and private or rights vs privileges.

There is a fundamental difference between a private forum open to the public and a public forum open to the public.

Like it or not there are rules here.  Are some less enforced than others sure but in what are of life is that not true...  When you get pulled over by a cop do you use the lame ass defense of "hey that other guy was speeding too".  Guess what, NO ONE CARES.  In the USA a lot of people say, "it's my right to drive".  It's not, driving is again a privilege available to the public.  Go get your license revoked and drive around, then when you get pulled over tell the cop its your fucking right to drive and see how that works out for you.

Though you do have to admit that its 3rd world posters from Asia that completely ruin this forum. They just spam 24/7 in bounties, signature campaigns, they buy accounts and scam.

Yes, there are legit people here from these countries that The Pharmacist is 'attacking', however you somehow forget about the peaceful people when their brothers and sisters are doing such vile acts here. While I don't completely with the wording of him, his core ideas are spot on and something should certainly be done about all this spamming.

English being their second language is besides the point, but you're forgetting that this is an English speaking forum. If you can't speak English then you should stick to your local board as that's what they're there for. I have nothing but respect for people who speak multiple languages but when your English is so poor it's often a stretch to say it's even a second language and when the forum is wall-to-wall shitposts by people quite clearly struggling and forcing themselves to make posts it becomes both annoying and disruptive. A lot of people's English here is so bad they're like human spambots and it would be akin to me going into the Philippines local board and trying to speak Filipino. I can't. So I would struggle and so do they. They would also quite rightly get annoyed if their board was flooded with largely unintelligible drivel by people who can't speak Filipino and I wouldn't blame them for that.

This forum used to be a place to discuss bitcoin but now due to signature campaigns that has become second fiddle and is now largely just a place for people to earn bitcoins via signature campaigns and when you can't speak English either very well or at all this is just a recipe for disaster. I honestly don't blame people from developing countries trying to take advantage of it but it cannot be acceptable for people to spew nonsense all over as they ruin it for everyone else as it is almost impossible to have a decent discussion about anything here any more. The fact that they can't speak English doesn't hold them back because they'll either just google translate it or even worse copy and paste somebody else's post. You don't have to clean up their mess on a daily basis so you can't understand Staff's annoyance with the issue. You will also have no idea how many users are banned for copy and pasting content on a daily basis and the vast majority of these instances happen to be mostly Filipinos and Indonesians (because they can't speak English very well if at all). Staff's job here now is essentially to babysit these annoying kids for free and we waste countless hours attempting to do so and it's incredibly frustrating and that frustration is shared with many other users who are tired of having to sift through streams of illiterate diarrhoea to even find something worth commenting on.


As others have said this is a private forum with rules. The rules are no low value posts. People really shouldn't be posting in their second or third language if they're not fluent in English and if you're not fluent then stick to your local boards as that's what they're there for. Far too much abuse is already tolerated here but that's partly why the forum is in such a mess and all these restrictions that are being suggested or trialled are done so to try make the forum actually readable and usable and to cut down on the wall-to-wall abuse by both bots and spammers.

This is pretty much a PUBLIC forum. Public as in anyone can come and post coherent and relevant posts. There are no official rules stated by the admin you know. And consequences, my foot there are any. There are hundreds of users abusing campaigns and scamming innocent people, what consequences have users faced, a red tag is going to help anyone? Not everybody in this world not get offended when rude things are said, some feel too hurt and they get angered because everyone has their own limits. I don't think anybody complains about a Newbie posting a serious question/problem in Bitcoin Technical Support in very broken English. I don't report them, I answer them (if I can). They don't get banned for that.

I think it's pretty clear when a "kid from a third world country" tries to post "English" just to earn from a signature campaign. That's what it's about.
I've posted (in English) on an Italian board too, but I did it only once, on a subject that interested me.

I would say they are malnourished cancer to this forum. And also include the Indonesians and the Bangaldeshi Beggars to this list. This is why there are local boards. I would expect to get bashed too if I tried posting on a board whose language I don't speak. The crux of the issue is that the only reason they are posting on the English language sections is because they're being paid by a signature campaign to do so. I don't see people getting bashed for their English in sections like Scam Accusations, for instance, since the same conflict of interest isn't present.

Although I disagree on the language The Pharmacist uses, I understand his frustration with shitposters. Not only from the Philippines, but also (or even more) from Indonesia.

I know many Filipinos, and I know they're all very proud of their country. But they also leave that country instantly if they ever get the chance, and even then they remain very proud of the place they left behind for a better place.

I think so, yes. Unless he considers this to be related to the forum, but as far as I've seen, much worse language doesn't get deleted by moderators. I think theymos values expression of speech much higher than possibly hurting someone's feelings.

I am not that mad of The Pharmacist. I respect his opinion/statement but just like you've said, he's out of line.

I cannot blame some (or many) of my fellow countrymen here if they're not well in english (I consider myself as well) or if they're only here because of bounties. No matter what the reasons are, at least they are having a life. Some uses bounties here to sustain studies, to cope daily expenses due to unemployment. Some helps the community, the 2 Filipino Moderators for the most suitable example. Some wants to learn and be updated.


It's hard to clean up messes especially if you did not make and/or cause them.

I don't agree with certain language he used and he could probably tone it down a little but this is just a symptom of people's frustrations here with 'shitposters' and the sad fact is that a good majority of them happen to be Filipino (along with other South East Asians such as Indonesians and to a lesser extent Vietnamese).
