This is the moment all buyers wait for.

Don't kid yourself.

That panic selling sweet spot is much lower down than this.

Mat! Long time no see!

Are you feeling better these days? more importantly sleeping better?

*edit*

I guess I should at least address the original post since I'm crapping in his thread trying to catch up with an old friend (not really, but I do value MatTheCat's contributions)

So my "The philosophy of buying when others panic sell..." is that I am a crap trader.

The only way I have been able to consistently increase my btc position has been to simply set a tranche on either side of the price and hope for volatility, (last couple days been very nice Wink I just make sure that I have my tranches set deep enough to account for whatever occurance. For example lower tranche ends at 288, upper tranche to 4000. worst case outcome is I get cleaned out on either side, If I get cleaned out on the top side, oh well, I cash out a tidy sum. I get cleaned out on the low side, now I've got a ton of coins, but they might be worthless. Oh well, it's been fun, just wait and see if it recovers (lesson learned from that crash after the 32 spike.)

Believers in the Bull who do not pay their due to me will always pay their dues when their faith waivers, I assure you, you will pay your dues to me. When your losses exceed 50, 60, 70, 80 % you will not be able to refuse the irresistible draw of Oski!

The sooner you worship me, the less you will lose mortal.

FYI: I exit unprofitable positions immediately.

Holy smokes he's a pro trader!

I'm not really good at it. Other people have satoshi dice, I have btc-e (I can't really use anything else others charge too much fees)

As much as I try to plot and plan, I almost never do better than buy-and-hold. But that's probably just because this is a freak of a market.

Finish the following sentence: ElectricMucus is an idiot because.....

he doesn't understand the fundamental value of the bitcoin protocol. He only focuses on the "currency" aspects and trading. He is very shallow in his ideas and ideologies. He has been so far incapable of wrapping his mind around the solutions that the bitcoin protocol offers the world.

Nerves to steel might be required

No nerves of steel required. You just have to not be a wimp and sell.

How has the hodl bullshit influenced me?

FYI: I exit unprofitable positions immediately.

Tell us how you sold out coins at lower price and you want to buy back and how you are smart.

You mean trading? I do this almost every day.

Define what is:
a) "unprofitable positions"  (did you exit at $5 USD/BTC ? )
b) "immediately" ( 3 year ago ? )
d) what you think is "trading"  ( selling 100 BTC 3 year ago and buy 3 satoshi yesterday )

a) While I don't recall which trades I made all back then, some time I probably sold at around $5 and some time at $1200 or $200, etc
b) within 3 days to a week, some times shorter if I feel up to it.
c) trying to increase my capital, beat the market in a sense

Besides the penis wagging, so far, unless you bought above $1000, no one should have ever lost money long run, more or less. Bitcoin has yet to have a "Down" that isn't followed by an "up".

Nerves to steel might be required, but thus far buying when others panic would only do you good.

Saying that somebody is an idiot because one does certain things isn't an insult, it's just descriptive of an idiotic action.
To rephrase this: People influenced by the hodl bullshit are idiots.

The irony is all the idiots influenced by this hodl bullshit have no money to buy coins with. Grin

So basically people holding are idiots... because they heard holding was a good strategy.

Anyway stop crying little kid, or should I say idiot

Some of us have paychecks you know... I mean for jobs in the outside world - not feeding from the fear and hope of others for a living like quite a few experts and traders here!  Wink

The thing is the price of Bitcoins is now so high that normal people paychecks do not really matter any more.

exactly.. reg folks are getting scare trained to buy in only under $800...  it bounces around too much to think about 'buying a piece' of bitcoins. If it was stable people wouldn't mind getting .3 or whatever but until then, people will look at the price for a whole bitcoin and act on that

I sold near this latest top but got my hands a little bloody on the way down..  one batch ~917 and another ~852..  so the 917's will go to cold storage and a spike might free up the 852's in a few days.

probably see tight trading 770-810 for a while

"bulltard"

Do you know how childish you make yourself look by using that word? Grow up.

Then again you probably are just a little kid but that doesn't mean that you can't at least try to act a little more mature.

I hope you're not talking to me. My plan was to always hold for at least a year or two, so I'm really not too bothered by the daily chart. There's no way I can pick the best time to get in or estimate when the dips will happen.. but as long as I come out on top I will win.

I'm only a little worried about NMC

You're the same bulltard who 48 hrs ago, stated btc will never seen triple digits again. So now that it's gone down 20%, you flip your propaganda to... hey cheap coinz on sale today, to da moon tomorrow !11!

Throughout all my posts I have only several key points:

1. Bitcoin is looking very stable these days, and poised for big success.

2. This is translating into the outcome of this latest bubble when you compare with previous ones.

3. Thus this is probably the very worst time in Bitcoin's history to panic sell your coins into a trader's lap!

Said Mucus who has neither money nor bitcoins, ok. And for the record, hodling includes buying more at the dips, otherwise you have nothing to hodl on to.

The problem with this is you don't know how low its going to go. I've been thinking "panic sale" ever since $1015.

I think this one is closing now and we will look back at it as a subdued sell-off compared with previous ones.

We react less and less to medium-strength Chinese news now.

We are getting PLENTY of positives in the US etc.

The biggest fear - a global ban - that was an unknown a year ago is now banished for good. This WILL play into market psychology (EDIT: significantly with very noticeable results on bubbles etc. [for the quote he he!  Cheesy] ) from now on. You can quote me on that later as much as you like!  Smiley

Too bad I have no fiat to spare

I bought more LTC and NMC an hour ago and it went down even further and still going.... and I just realized that China has yet to wake up today and the prices will probably continue to sink more. Terrible decision on my part. Fuck

So much for $2000/btc in January... China keeps making us crash

Listen man. This might sound a bit silly saying this as if it's personal advice but try to give up worrying about China! It's a red herring when it comes to Bitcoin - at this stage it is not a fundamental technical or business-related problem for Bitcoin; it is purely a psychological one!

Advice to those fearful. Just Hodl!  Wink  (That means hold on to your Bitcoin and don't worry for any of you new folk who might be wondering).

The fear transfers to the buyers... who today, with Bitcoin going mainstream this year, more than ever WILL get in once the selling calms down.

This is the eternal law of the Bitcoin market!

Good luck to you all!  Smiley
