If the virus can survive in weeks, that is really alarming.
Might just go online shopping, but how about the delivery staff or the ones who packed the orders? Tongue

Wait 3 weeks before opening your package!  Grin

Please please instead of us joking about this, why dont we help spread what is Ebola. That might be very good.

You cannot catch ebola simply by touching the same things that someone who is infected has touched. You need to swap bodily fluids (meaning their bodily fluids need to get "inside" your body). If you simply touch the same dollars that they have touched after they were infected then you would most likely not get infected.

you do realise that your hearing the PR speech that ebola is safe. yet 200 doctors have been infected, even with protective clothing

try looking at actual reports from the centre of disease control instead of the PR guy on news channels trying to keep people calm.

We believe there is scientific and epidemiologic evidence that Ebola virus has the potential to be transmitted via infectious aerosol particles both near and at a distance from infected patients, which means that healthcare workers should be wearing respirators, not facemasks.1

=coughing ans sneezing..

yes snot and cough spittle can be transferred to bank notes and electronic keypads..

but as i said in my last post, i said sex with the wife. which is most definitely the most extreme form of bodily fluid interaction without drawing blood

oh and if you say it has to be live fluids such as blood straight from the vein.. check out the CDC scrubbing away vomit 4 days later

yes the virus can survive for 3 weeks
health care workers are getting infected because they are not following all the precautions all the time when they interact with people who are infected. The fact that they need to interact with them a lot and over long periods of time mean that there is a greater chance of them getting infected.

You cannot get infected from a cough alone unless something other then a "cough" comes out of your mouth, meaning you must either have some bodily fluid come out of you and mix in with bodily fluids of someone else

reading more of that CDC website link

Quote
Ebola viruses can be isolated from sera and tissue culture medium at room temperature for up to 46 days,

Quote
aerosolized Ebola at relative humidity and 72°F, had biological decay rates of 3.06%. per minute. These rates indicate that 99% loss in aerosol infectivity would occur in 104 minutes

so if someone suspected of having ebola sneezes or coughs, it will be in the air for 104 minutes, and if they sneeze into their hand and rub it into their clothes or handle a bank note.. its on that material for 46 days.

Quote
There is also some experimental evidence that Ebola and other filoviruses can be transmitted by the aerosol route. Jaax et al reported the unexpected death of two rhesus monkeys housed approximately 3 meters from monkeys infected with Ebola virus, concluding that respiratory or eye exposure to aerosols was the only possible explanation

All the available information is that it spreads from person to person through contact with bodily fluids from an infected individual. It doesn’t seem to spread by being in close proximity, or by casual contact. The recommendations are that you avoid contact with infected individuals’ blood, feces, or other bodily fluids.

So It can spread through touching money, a lot of people have the habit of counting money using their saliva wet finger, and saliva being a body fluid can contain the virus.

It's like saying that people should use email if they don't want to get anthrax.

lol yep

i only made the topic after reading someone else trying to use the ebola news to extort funds for people saying that a bitcoin fundraiser can cure ebola.. but yes the best cure is to stay away from people infected.

if my wife starts coughing,, i aint having sex with her for a month!

no, this is not a money grab like the other guy is trying.

bitcoin can directly help reduce ebola contamination.

think about it, dallas right now has 80 people on observation. imagine it increased to 800.. would you start to be more cautious about who you touched, knowing they could have sneezed, spat or pissed on their hand.

well would you touch their bank notes...

well would you touch the keypad of a debitcard reader

wel would you touch the keypad of a ATM.. not knowing what germs or potential 'fluids' it had on there..

once dallas becomes more widespread with more people under observation due to more people showing symptoms you will see this happening. shop owners will start refusing to accept bank notes in fear of touching someone elses "fluids" and they will be spending lots of money on hand sanitiser and antibacterial stuff to put next to card readers to tempt people to pay via debit card or other methods.

but guess what

bitcoin is the solution. no need to touch an ATM or 'chip&pin' card reader. no need to touch bank notes. simply scan a QR code from arms length

... simple huh

 Grin
the other topic of a similar name is someone trying to use the ebola outbreak as a get rich quick scheme. please dont donate to it, instead think smart about how you use your money. including who you come into contact with
